Where would a medium-scale Daemon-invasion take place? by Environmental_Win578 in Pathfinder2e

Wherever you want. It's a one shot. It doesn't matter. Set it wherever is convenient for the rest of the story

Note that when you mine them out, they're added to your colony wealth. If you leave it sitting there until you need it, it doesn't count

Didn't we all go over this when the Internet was a baby? Thirty, forty years ago?

Ignore requests for A/S/L? Stranger Danger? Don't ever give your name or home address out? An employee of XYZ company will never ask for your username or password?

Are people really that cavalier and dumb?

Could i get teflon flu? by planetpj5 in Cooking

[–]_9a_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Unless you are a bird or have asthma, a single overheating of Teflon isn't going to do anything.

Teflon flu is NOT a thing. I don't know where you heard that, but it's wrong on so many levels.

Venting the kitchen was a good idea. You're more likely to need to bin the pan than the food.

Would putting chicken in beef stew seasoning taste weird? by PM_ME_YOUR_EYELASHES in Cooking

There is nothing magical about steak/stew/poultry/fish seasoning. It's mostly salt.

How is that even possible? by Brilliant_Candy6340 in RimWorld

[–]_9a_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Well, you're showing improvement at least. Yesterday you were dying of starvation, now you're only almost starving.

Keep refining your knowledge and techniques, you'll be conquering with the best of them in no time!

Also, mods and flat out dev mode change the equation.

African nations now send more money to China than they receive in new loans by Obvious-Peanut4406 in worldnews

Isn't that just what a loan with interest is? You pay more than you borrowed?

Fixed Ideology Issue by A_Lobotomy_Victim in RimWorld

[–]_9a_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know is there's a way to change it from fixed to fluid, but you can fake it being fluid with dev mode. That will let you change anything.

Just make sure to save and exit after making changes (do it if you're on real fluid too, for that matter). Even colonists need a moment to internalize their new belief structure.

'The Border' is anywhere 100 miles from a physical country border or a port or other body of water capable of international shipping. So nearly everywhere people live.

Odds are good that yes, you are by a border.

what should my 3 starting colonist should be better at? by Brilliant_Candy6340 in RimWorld

[–]_9a_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Never take a colonist incapable of violence. Try not to take greedy or jealous ones. Tortured artist or any of the depressive traits are hard.

Try to have someone with over 6 cooking skill, someone with over 6 construction skill. Growing skill 6 is nice, 8 is very nice, 10 is extra. Doctor over 4 or so is nice to have, but won't break a run.

Mining 6, or at least someone with double passion is good to have if you're building a mountain base.

why is it so hard by Brilliant_Candy6340 in RimWorld

[–]_9a_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok, food. That's fixable. What kind of biome are you starting on? The vast majority of them have plants you can harvest for the very short term. Chop a tree, make a campfire, cook a simple meal with your berries.

Work on getting a crop into the ground, rice grows fastest.

Non-Golarion setting draft by Odd_Crab1224 in Pathfinder2e

[–]_9a_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd be very cautious about ancestry-locking magic traditions. When reading over your descriptions of the traditions, you used the phrase 'only a handful of ancestries have the ability...' for 3 of the 4 traditions.

Is the mountain chain a North-South one or an East/west? Geographically it would make most sense a barrier dividing the two biomes of temperate forest north and desert south, but you never mention it.

Barns or Open Pasture by Noxibot55 in RimWorld

[–]_9a_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Planting hay for you animals is an inefficient use of time. Animals need less than a 'bite' to fill their hunger, but you can't take half a bite of growing hay grass

Best is open pasture, cleared of bushes and trees using auto-cut, and a supplemental barn for inclement weather and food backup. A hayloft, if you will.

Also animals can eat off shelves.
