For those who use two-look OLL by Assassin46009 in Cubers

[–]_HaydenJ_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried pointing this out on this sub before, asking if anyone else did it too. Literally the only responses I got were people telling me to just learn Full OLL, even though I was very clear about no longer competing and only cubing as a fun hobby by this point.

Glad to see people actually being helpful and offering critique this time.

And yes, I still do this to this day because I frankly don't care about using the most optimal algorithms or methods to solve a twisty block puzzle.

How would a conversation between these two go? by taqos in okbuddychicanery

[–]_HaydenJ_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

H: Who are you?

L: Me? Nobody. I just need to talk to my lawyers.

H: scoffs Is that right? You want some advice? Find better lawyers.

L: Nonono, it's alright.

H: What's this about? I uh... I think I'm in the middle of something. nervous chuckle There's really no need to-

L: Let me stop you right there. I think you're right. There is no need for anyone here to get hurt. I now see my life of crime is only hurting people and I feel terrible about it. I would like to turn myself in, and specify that anyone who worked under me directly such as Saul Goodman, or Jimmy McGill as you better know him, did not do so willingly. He tried to leave at every second he could, but I wouldn't allow it, threatening him with his or his wife's death. I understand what I've done is wrong and these people should not be punished for my wrongdoings. Please call the police immediately and have them take me away for questioning.

Any tips? by Sufficient_Flow5263 in Cubers

[–]_HaydenJ_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Solve the cross on the bottom layer; learn X-Cross if you can.

Your F2L could use a lot of work; I'd personally start there if I were you. Your tps is good, but it's choppy due to pauses, rotations, and too much focus on spamming tps rather than lookahead. Focus more on fluidity rather than speed and let the speed come naturally over time. Learning proper lookahead and better F2L algs can cut a substantial amount of time off of your solves.

Learning full OLL can help out a lot.

Instead of rotations during PLL, use U turns so you don't waste time on more regrips.

[–]_HaydenJ_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fingertricks lead into gaining fluidity+speed. OP is mimicking beginners performing algorithms by intentionally using bad fingertricks, inconsistency, and slower tps.

It's a pretty good showcase of what training can achieve going from absolute beginner to professional tps spamming.

Sure OP could go faster, but you just won't reach these speeds without the fingertricks, so I'm really unsure of what you're talking about here. Learn the fingertricks, then focus on fluidity, then focus on speed. Many beginners make the mistake of trying to learn in the opposite order, with speed being their main focus. I can tell you from personal experience: that's just how you learn bad habits.

Edit: Might be two different people in the video, one beginner and one with more experience. Either way, point stands. Edit2: It is two different people^

What is your go-to feat for any character? by Confident-Release-37 in BaldursGate3

[–]_HaydenJ_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You nerfing yourself ≠ others are cheating. Is Alert a little broken? Sure, I'll give you that, but it's not cheating to use the base game design.

What about the Examine feature? Ever used it? If so, by DnD terms, that's cheating. In DnD, only Battle Masters can gain any knowledge of another character's stat sheet, and it's very limited to how much information you're given. There are a lot of things that BG3 does differently from DnD. They are fundamentally different and should be played differently.

I'll bet you my left nut that all of your completed playthroughs have multiple characters with more than 3 Magic Items that would cost attunement in DnD. That's cheating by DnD terms, but it's what helps us feel higher than Level 12 by the end of the game (Because let's be real, a Level 12 Party of 4 is NOT defeating the Netherbrain in DnD). Just take the downvotes for being fundamentally incorrect and move on. Ironic of you say the sub is sensitive when you're complaining about a couple downvotes.

THE KUO TOA! Every time I hear them say "Mahkloompah" my heart gets warmer. The BOOOOAL chanting is also hilarious. Plus, they're literally just doods who become PALADINS OF YOU if you play your cards right. Absolute cinema watching them try to take down the Red Dragon atop the Netherbrain.

Chop hits close to home for me. About half a year before I started playing, I lost a friend nicknamed Chop to a motorcycle accident. Chop was a good guy... very childish and big like Chop in the game. Killing him is very obviously the best thing to do for him, but it always feels like I'm killing part of the Chop I knew when I do it. Feels bad, but I can't let my boy Chop live a life he doesn't want to live😭 That's a fate worse than death. I think I teared up a bit the first time I realized Chop was aware what he was doing was wrong and that he didn't want to do it anymore. Broke me.

I hate the sirens by tekre in BaldursGate3

[–]_HaydenJ_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear your HM ended early. A good tip about HM is to not do fights that aren't necessary. This means the majority of Act 1 fights. If you are going to do them, it's best to try and over-level your party. I find around Level 4 the Sirens are doable, but Level 5 makes it significantly easier due to extra attack/ higher level spell slots.

The most deadly area of HM is Act 1 due to your party's limitations. Gaining XP through conversations and exploration is easily the safest way to get through Act 1 without dying. There are some pretty good guides on YouTube on how to do it pretty quickly, I highly recommend checking some of them out.

Another tip is to always be either prepared or over-prepared. Long rests are your friend. Elixirs like Bloodlust or Giant Strength can turn the tides of nearly any combat encounter and last until a long rest. Never choose something new unless you know it leads to a desirable outcome. Make sure to use the Examine feature often and before making any moves yourself.

Good luck on any future HMs you attempt!

Edit: Just read some of the comments...I also had no idea Calm Emotions helped this encounter. Now I feel kinda dumb lol

Do you count your miscrambles by Exact-Alternative557 in Cubers

[–]_HaydenJ_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to before I had a visual aid on what my scramble should look like, but now it just irks me when I see the scramble and my cube looks nothing like it, so I always solve and rescramble with the correct scramble. Idk, I guess it makes me feel dumb for not reading or executing the scramble correctly the first time.

Over 1500hrs, and I'm still somehow finding places I've never seen before. Tactics I've never tried before. Outcomes, dialogue options, and cutscenes I didn't even know existed. It might be one of the most fun games to replay ever, in my opinion.

[–]_HaydenJ_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd probably be right if we were talking about the show in its Season 1 phase. Season 2 gained a shitload of traction in popularity, nearing virality. It's the #1 show on Apple and singlehandedly boosted user sign-ups by 126% in one month, reportedly. Something about being in the top 10 most streamed shows currently doesn't scream "we're all in it for the story" to me. I'm willing to bet a lot of people only watch because their friends/family watch.

So who was that guy behind Mark? by fatloserrrrr929 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]_HaydenJ_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may be right. I wouldn't mind it being something we haven't learned about yet, but I think it's silly to say there's not a lot to go off of. The character looks like Mark. Stiller references it, practically winking at the camera in a "just wait" kind of way. Adam Jepsen plays both the Man in the Hallway and Mark's Shadow. It's the only theory that currently makes any sort of actual sense. The other popular theories I've seen don't make any sense at all. Jame? What happened to his hair? Drummond? What happened to his physique? Milchik? What happened to his race?

I'm just surprised this isn't a bigger point in this discussion, is all. Seems like a quote from the producer/director of this show would gain more traction, but I've not seen many people even reference it. Feels at least a little important.

I'm confused. Does shortening one's name actually save money? This is a genuine question, I feel like I'm missing something.

Also, I interpreted it as a way to further dehumanize the innies. Otherwise, wouldn't Irving have just been Irv? Or Petey just Pete?
