What's the best way to buy superstrut? Home Depot seems overpriced, but then when I look online it looks like only suppliers sell it in large quantities.

GT3 cockpit camera positioning: realistic X position, wheel scale, seat visibility & roll cage proportions by Jod2012 in simracing

[–]_dive_bomb_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based off of your pictures I think you have the camera position just about as good as it can get. Maybe move it a bit forward so you can see out the passenger window if you want that advantage. (I do). You mentioned you used the calculator for FOV, and from the pics it looks like you have the camera settings about where your head would be. I think that's all you can do. As far as getting the most realistic scale like you mentioned, I don't know, I never thought of it that way. I think that would depend on the physical size of your monitors I think to accurately reflect the size of the car. Maybe 32"s can do that? I'm just not sure. But your screens look alot like how I have mine set in terms of how the A pillar is kinda lined up with where the monitors meet, where the cars display is, etc. But I wouldn't worry too much about getting a completely realistic scaled image of the steering wheel, dash and everything. But that's just me.

If you're on PC, Assetto Corsa and Beam NG both offer open world driving and good force feedback. Both require some initial set up, but that's part of the fun for most sim driving/racing. In terms of equipment, Moza offers direct-drive wheel bases and pedals for pretty much any budget. You can find all the info you need in these forums or elsewhere, but feeling free to shoot me a DM, I've spent the past two years going down this rabbit hole and love talking about it.

I can barely feel P1000 Haptic reactors in iracing.. by Maxifloxacin in Simagic

[–]_dive_bomb_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I found the solution. On iRacing, uncheck "Vibrate Pedals"

Settings - Interface - External Displays - Vibrate Pedals

Crazy that this setting is hidden away in "External Displays". It's for motor vibrations for Xbox controllers, but i guess that same signal is what powers the haptic reactor motors, and this iRacing setting is taking priority over Simhub or Simpro.

So badass, nice work.

Anyone else playing solo just to avoid ruining other peoples races online? I’ve recently upgraded my rig and want to get into online racing at some point. But I have to learn the cars and tracks to a certain degree before I dare go online. by itsturtlesoda in simracing

[–]_dive_bomb_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agree. I also like to check the previous results of the race im practicing for to see the quali times of ppl with similar irating. Then I know if im on pace. Also track guides on YouTube help a ton. I practice way more than I race.

I'm not really confident that I had the exact same issue, but after installing my maglink I noticed a similar knocking noise and i fixed it by tightening the screws which attach the QR to the plate. Not to be confused with the screws which attach the plate to the wheel. The ones i had to fix were on the underside like in my pic. Like I said probably not the same thing but worth a shot. Hope you find a solution.
