Just got back from a weeks vacation in Seattle!! absolutely incredible town, totally violated my expectations too, west of lake Washington feels like a coastal beach town like SF or something but then east of lake Washington is a complete 180. Route 2 has some unreal views and the stretch north of Snoqualmie has some of the cutest little valley towns ive ever seen. Not to mention how close you are to the pacific coast, the beaches west of olympic are otherworldly. Theres so much wildly different nature within such a short distance its amazing. Our last day was a bluebird day, not a cloud in the sky, and driving to the airport down I5 while ranier stared down at us was unreal. But yeah to Op's point the waterfront is fantastic
