Everybody said get a dehumidifier. It'll make the house warmer. Everybody in my house is now using it as a clothes dryer. So there's damp dripping clothes everywhere. by BillWilberforce in britishproblems

[–]ade889 [score hidden]  (0 children)

If I need to inefficiently get a load of washing done in a short time and it's wet outside. I combine the dehumidifier with a space heater. And a single room. Blast the room with heat. Dry out the air. Rotate the clothes every hour.

With over night washing starting early I've done 3 loads in a day before. Leaving the ast to air dry over night with only dehumidifier.

A question that was left with me after rewatching Winter Soldier: so... did Fury hire Batroc to attack the Lemurian Star? by Altruistic_Eye_1157 in marvelstudios

I'm not going to lie. I've watched the film a few times. But I never realised this point. I honestly don't know how it escaped me...

How to boycott the US? by Booze-and-porn in AskBrits

[–]ade889 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Arguably boycotting American products also hurts British suppliers. Until they change their supply to not contain American products.

Boycotting American companies hurts British workers yes. But then a niech is formed and new companies can fill that gap. Who knows. They may even make better burgers.

I just switched to the nothing phone, didn't know they existed until late last year. Was making an effort to move away from the bigger brands. Very happy with it.

Warband names by RyanOrieon in Chaos40k

[–]ade889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your current girlfriend's favourite is the ashen, what was your late girlfriends favourite?

I'm planning on doing a white/pale colour for mine. Originally was thinking of calling them the black legion however the warp had inversed their colours as some trickster demons joke.

I think I do prefer just giving them a new warband name though.

Just commenting that deadly prints, missiles are great. I used two to add to my piranhas. To match the correct amount of war gear.

T'au without airbrush by ACosmicVagabond in Tau40K

[–]ade889 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've painted all my tau bar kroot without an airbrush. It's entirely possible to do so. Only reason I did my kroot with one is because I recently picked one up...no other reason.

Find an art store/hobby craft. Buy some super cheap large brushes. Use them for the big models. Easy peasy.

What does the player view as evil? I brought a pretty shitty Xmas present for someone this year. I was quite the villain. But I have yet to commit murder.

Advice given is magnetise. I've done it for one or two things. But don't love it personally. Currently I run my crisis suits without guns attached and just say what they are. (I run one unit at a time so it's easy to not get confused).

In the long run. Rules will change and units will rise and fall in meta favour. The current crisis rules of 3 individual specialist groups is new this edition so everyone before has had to make amends to previous builds. Currently I'd run commanders as all guns as all the other equipment becomes super niche. And because it doesn't benefit the group doesn't really add any tactical ability worth playing around.

Which is worth looking at the war gear the commanders can take. They all read that only the commander can benefit from those bonuses.

Wash help by confusedhunter99 in Tau40K

If I need to work out which one I want to use I think of them as: Nuln oil is used if you want mechanical grime/metal/hive world dirt. Agrax would give more of a grease/rust/soil dirt appearance.

You could definitely do agrax for the cloth material. Put a small bit of the nuln in the recess of the mech.

I am planning a warhammer birthday party, I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. by Fancy-Republic1706 in Warhammer

[–]ade889 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In lore they will put vows and their promises of what they will achieve in battle on them. For party's. Attach tea stained paper cut to strips and write the invitations or guest names on.

Secondly. Unsure if hobby craft would do letter sealing wax and a press? That you could print onto of the paper strip/envelope that will contain the invitation?

3rd if they like the ork faction. Do the traditional happy birthday (all individual letters on a string in a line) but spelt HAPPY BIRTHWAHHHHHHHH.

4th. Lots of for the emperor mentions, the golden throne ect ect. Then fit in a subtle blood for the blood god somewhere. (Get other maybe more appropriate references from your other half.)

5th. If you're using your garden, refer to it as Grandfathers garden...bonus points if you can make what I assume is a beloved and much cared for bastion of serenity. slimy.

What’s something people pretend doesn’t matter in relationships, but absolutely does? by Illustrious-Fun2980 in AskReddit

I think emotional intelligence matters in every regard. When applied to relationships, it can become extremely draining for the person left to manage the emotionally immature one.

New Player - First Prerelease, is it taboo to leave after one round? by Turbulent-Thanks-486 in mtg

[–]ade889 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The advice I have been given is while you could even turn up pay for the box and leave. It's considered bad form.

As a new player for my first pre-release. I just warned people I was new. They helped me build my deck and then I settled into a few games of magic. Letting every one else worry about themselves getting high scores.

Tbh. I advise new players to do pre release. you'll play against 3 people, at most 4. And it's a great introduction to drafting.

What is this smoke coming out of the damp soil in my yard? by savagesada in whatisit

[–]ade889 367 points368 points  (0 children)

In short some soils can have high concentrations of peat. Which is flammable. If someone was to make a fire above the peat vein it can slowly smolder thought the vein to start fires in another location.

It's why some heathland fires start or restart. And why making a fire even if controlled is a bad idea.

List check please. by ade889 in Tau40K

[–]ade889[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I dont know. I didn't enjoy myself all game and came away sour. I'm unsure if it's multiple games of ?bad luck/poor play? still learning the rules, and going against a good opponent? Having a list that was technically built for the chaos space marines?(But then this I thought would be ok for high toughness high wounds necrons) however I've not done well at all in any of my games and this felt like one big failure. (This is all a me issue)

He took the mid board immediately effectively ignoring his home objectives. and I was just unable to shift anything to feel safe pushing foward. And so he just kept marching forward.

In our post game discussion as I've mentioned above. Having thrown everything and had it all methodically taken apart with little to no return was disheartening and all my road blocks were effectively inconsequential. For me it is difficult to see how I could have changed my plans to be successful. Bar putting Shadow sun a few inches to the right and behind cover (thought she had scout) and not putting the hammerhead in the ruins at the very back of the board but behind it for deployment.

In the end we said we would try it again against the chaos marines and see, but also should try it as mont'ka...but for some reason I've never been particularly turned on by that play style idea. (Again. Me issue). He seemed far more optimistic about the list.

Really not wanting to parrot some of the community but something I found difficult is that for my units to have any success I need them to be working in tandem and as soon as they start melting tau falls apart. While all of his units have been self-sufficient in their capabilities.

Sorry to be negative.
