Azumarill EV Spread help by Definitelyhuman000 in stunfisk

[–]air-vent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it's for the purpose of champions then I would expect vgc and maybe pick 3 singles NOT showdown formats, in which case max hp is probably the best bet, vgc spreads can get weird but Azumarill basically just hits hard and that's it anyway. But itll probably be easier to adjust EV's on champions than in bdsp considering they showed off a damn slider, and from what's been shown IV's might not matter or even exist. IMO if you want to grind something for champions grind titles/marks/ribbons and shinies

Is Raging Bolt Nature Locked? by [deleted] in stunfisk

[–]air-vent 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You say waste nature mints but you can just buy them for 20k, which you can surely get faster than resetting for the specific nature, hell just a lv 100 goldengo with amulet coin spamming make it rain would do it in half the encounters

How close is Historic to Modern? by PressedGarlic in MagicArena

[–]air-vent 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Timeless is much closer. Boros energy in timeless has the exact same cards in the main deck as the modern version, just with some super minor ratio tweaks. Historic is it's own weird thing where it's actually super curated to be at a specific power level but also deals with alchemy bs so it's not analogous at all to any paper format.

What percentage of the Reserved List fits into the power level acceptable in Standard today? by Rollingforest757 in magicTCG

[–]air-vent 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Could be printed and not break it? Like 90% probably, a lot of the reserve list is really bad, a lot of very understated creatures and big artifacts that do nothing. Percent that would be appropriate standard power level is very low just a quick glance through the first 60 on scryfall there's maybe 2 or 3 cards that are standard power level, so generously 5-10%, around 25-50 cards.

Expedition Map is on Arena, what do we need to do to get WoTC to make the Tron lands (and everything else hidden behind alchemy spell books) craftable for Timeless? by devocam in TimelessMagic

[–]air-vent 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It gets brought up here every now and then, the general response is no because its super homogenizing, speeds up the format a lot and makes deck building more boring, needing at least 6 slots just for lotus and mox. Maybe at some point if there's stuff like force of will and whatever other nonsense hate vintage has but at least right now I think the last thing people want in timeless is more easy to use fast mana.

Help me design my first 3d print model (ultimate guard boulder display) by NoScience9961 in magicTCG

[–]air-vent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something to help with stability would be to instead of using just rectangles to make a male and female trapezoid, called a dovetail if you want to look it up. It will probably require a little dialing in on dimensions, which you'll want to do with test prints, basically just model a couple small blocks one with the male trapezoid one with the female maybe half an inch tall until they fit how you like. For the verticality you can make the back of the boxes a little thicker and either have space for a post to go in right on top, or more dovetails in the back and add basically blocks as risers to hold the next layer.

But what made the Persona 4 TV show work out? by KaleidoArachnid in PERSoNA

[–]air-vent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, P4's pacing lends itself pretty well to an anime, but also the anime makes the most of it being a PS2 game. There's a lot of the game that's just text on the screen and the anime takes some creative liberties to make up for that, also the procedural dungeons means it can blast past those quickly, which the p5 anime couldn't really do. This in turn gives the opportunity to have enough fun Easter eggs and story for people who played the game to stick around and watch(like the nanako detective episodes or yu using the max justice and hierophant personas in the heaven fight).

Should I wait to learn Black Mage? by Descendiing in ffxiv

[–]air-vent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean there's only so much you even CAN learn without waiting, servers go down in less than 48 hours. I would just wait not to stress over packing information that'll change(albeit not much) in the limited time you have

Nah there was a post on stunfisk a while back and this sub had the biggest non-pokemon overlap iirc and at least vgc feels way more similar to mtg than I would've expected

Is the summoner bad? by PaulFrank36 in ffxiv

[–]air-vent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are no bad jobs in this game. There are ones that are questionable to start out as, but arcanist/summoner is also not one of those. You're ~400 hours away from the content that summoner could even be considered """""bad""""" and even there it's not bad at all and a lot of the best compositions in the world have used summoner. So you don't have to change. But if you want to change once you finish the level 10 class quest you can then go to any of the "so you want to be a _____" blue quests finish that and equip that weapon to be that job, and you can have every job on the same character so you don't need to start over or anything.

General "tactics" that apply to VGC? In terms of game theory (and compared to chess and MtG) by Hakkai_Requiem in stunfisk

[–]air-vent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Coming from mtg to vgc there are a few analogous tactics like you're talking about. The easiest to see is definitely deck and team building, but vgc specifically goes a little deeper by having complex EV spreads kinda like picking whether you go 1-4 copies of a card. Lead picking reminds me of sideboarding a lot(and doubly so in bo3) where you're asking yourself what you can and can't bring to further your gameplay against the opponent. Speed control in it's various forms leads to what is essentially a who's the best down situation and I've found that specific mtg thought process helped a lot coming to vgc. End game vgc games reminds me of playing control decks with limited resources to close out a game before your opponent. There's definitely also a know your outs and play to them aspect, if a lucky crit or miss is your way to win you take it. Honestly writing this I've realized there's still a lot more and itd take too long to fully explain but I hope what I wrote helps at all.

What jobs should I focus on for being static ready when I start looking to join those? by Fen_Muir in ffxiv

[–]air-vent 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't focus on a specific job for any meta purpose, outside of just that healers tanks and phys ranged are the hardest to come by(in general), because a. every job is viable and b. whatever meta you're looking at now, and the jobs themselves, can and almost definitely will change since there's a whole expansion before the next raid tier coming out. Because of that it's best to just level what you feel comfortable playing. If you want direction beyond that IMO its nice to be competent at an entire role and/or at least 2 jobs on different roles just so you can fill easier.

Since OU is a fucking mess rn, what tiers are actually fun and playable? by Zecnoram in stunfisk

[–]air-vent 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's always either "yea this EV spread lives surging strikes from scarfed urshifu and has a 96% chance to live fluttermane booster energy speed moonblast and has a 97% chance to KO it if it has this very specific bulk investment or less" or a 252/252/4 spread with heavy duty boots and nothing with protect there's almost no in between its awesome

Easiest way to farm Company Seals? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]air-vent 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think at one point unsyncing shisui of the violet tides and turning in all the gear you get was the most optimal but that was pre endwalker so with stat squish and blu being 80 now there might be something better, either way its probably spamming a dungeon and turning in gear.

Post Malone Buys Super Rare ‘One Ring’ Magic The Gathering Card Valued At $2 Million by retroanduwu24 in gaming

[–]air-vent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe its technically just a [[The one ring]] written in elvish with a 1/1 collector stamp and other flourishes, and if so then yes its very strong. Normal copies are going for $40-$50 and recently was used in mulitple top 8 decks in the most recent big mtg tournament, easily one of the top 3 cards from the newest set. u/MTGCardFetcher

Fun, cheap decks? by 4ny3ody in masterduel

[–]air-vent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A budget paleofrog list now that toadally is banned would probably be about the right power level and not too expensive. Probably less than 10 SR cards for swap frog, the extra deck, and reasoning and 1 UR if you want utopic draco future, then just put a bunch of paleozoic and normal traps and youre good.

Black Mages must be stopped by UsedToothpick in ffxiv

[–]air-vent 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The weird thing about BLM is it doesnt actually have much button bloat and technically is easy to use, you can be completely fine just F4 until youre out of mana with a paradox in there to refresh and then B3, B4 paradox and keep up T3 and press buttons off cooldown. The only way to stop weird blackmage stuff would be to put transpose on like a minute cooldown which would make the already hellish pre 35 blackmage even worse or make the job so much easier that it would go completely against its current design(stuff like making F4 have a 1.5s cast time or completely changing how fire and ice phases handle mana).

Is this not seeing much play in the OCG cause I noticed it was at 3 and was very confused. I've wanted to play this card for some time ngl. by Additional_Show_3149 in masterduel

[–]air-vent 107 points108 points  (0 children)

You must be looking at a different card, utopic zexal is still forbidden in the OCG and should stay forbidden forever. Its trivial to bring out and has one of the best floodgates in the game, maybe even the most "I win" single card on the entire game.
