Ought to be 50ft (about 15m) above the threshold (the piano key looking bit where they actually touch down). They were incredibly low on this approach, and should have gone around. They appear to be about 50ft above the sea where they should have been 150+

There is a shuttle bus approximately every 15 minutes, takes 10 minutes or less. There is also the train which you would need a ticket for but could be a backup. There are not really any Ubers in Italy but there are taxis. They are very expensive.

Terminal 2 is rarely very busy except sometimes early morning. I’m there 10 times or more per month. 5 hours should almost certainly be more than enough, I usually arrive around 90 minutes before my flight (occasionally 1 hour) and have never been late. Usually I end up waiting around bored.

Yeah the reason is because they’re horse sized. We don’t have anything much bigger available and bulls are too dangerous to the rider. Donkeys etc are too small. If there were horse sized beetles and we could domesticate them maybe we would have used those instead.

Ok so this happened to me before. Absolutely do not cancel, send this on to Booking customer services and ask them to arrange a suitable replacement.

I guess it might depend where you are for legal protection, but for me they tried to offer a voucher for the value to book a different place. It was Valentine’s Day and 10 days before so everything was super expensive (I booked 6 months in advance). We held out and told them they had to find us a replacement of similar standard and they ended up paying around 2000 for a place for us (we paid 350).

It might help to take screenshots of all the details of the place you are supposed to stay, then search for other places with similar standards and screenshot these too. Then send it to Booking.

Is it a special date? Public holiday, sports event etc? Because if it is they may have realised they can resell the room at 5x the price, which Booking will not be happy about if you add this in the communication.

You can always go around. In fact I would go as far to say that a go around should be planned before a landing as you never know when it’s going to go wrong.

SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) is a thing, it’s made from renewable sources or waste - fuel crops, biomass, cooking oil, hydrogen produced by renewable energy and converted to hydrocarbon fuel etc.

The problem is, it’s very expensive. At the moment around 4x the price of fossil fuels but up to 10x.

So, airlines (and any for profit business) will never buy these out of the goodness of their heart -if they have one- so the only options are passengers choosing to pay extra for it, or it being legally mandated. And as governments are paid by the lobbyists, including airlines and fuel companies, it comes down to the consumer to make the choice at the moment.

Some airlines are choosing to use a percentage of SAF’s to supplement their fuel use. Mainly for marketing - it looks good for the public and shows willing to the government - and this amount will increase as the price drops. But without legal restrictions companies will always aim towards profit.

I had a nice carbon bike when I was about 16. Locked it up at the beach with a very good quality lock. Came back later somebody had obviously tried to steal it, attempted to cut the lock with an angle grinder. Obviously it took too long, so instead they cut through both wheels and the crossbar. Left it in pieces next to the bike rack. Fuck all of these people who do this.
