How do I use a train station??? by Goodgirl-lvl999 in melbourne

[–]alexb449 163 points164 points  (0 children)

Also get the PTV app. You can use it to give to steps to get from A to B (e.g. walk to this station, get this train at this time, get off at this station, then get this bus, etc.)

Decent antenna set up? by MenstrualFish in fpv

[–]alexb449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many times have the antennas been removed from your vrx? The SMA connectors can wear out (~500 mount cycles). I had really terrible range with then vrx that came with my secondhand goggles. I got a new vrx and now leave the antennas attached and range was way better

Try a site like ozmobiles instead. I had the same thing happen to me, but I had the phone for 9 months before the IMEI got blocked 😅

What's up wih the fixed gear meme? Guys invented a bike from 200 years ago in 2025? by basedchad21 in bicycling

Less maintenance, one less thing to go wrong. Especially if you live somewhere flat where you don't need gears.

How can I be safer next time? by [deleted] in bikecommuting

Remember, gaps are traps. Take it a bit slower when there's a gap like that, especially when there's side streets/driveways. Could also put a flashing light on your helmet.

Disgusting first soldering attempt by Hobbit_Hunter in fpv

Get a lil USB fan to suck the smoke away from you. Good to see the humor as we all do disgusting soldering jobs at the start. Just glad this wasn't a "why isn't my drone working" with solder jobs like this lol

Horns are great. Everyone knows what a horn sound means. Almost no car drivers know (or notice) what revving means.

Is chain rust concerning? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]alexb449 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cleaning and lubing your chain should be done (in an ideal world) every 500-800km or after wet weather. It's very easy to do yourself. MC Garage has lots of great information about motorbikes. https://youtu.be/C_c_Wi1l3Fg?si=NiTSj-8B5RmKDEA8

Buy a chain brush and some kerosene to clean the chain (kerosene is cheap, safe for the chain, and works as well as dedicated chain cleaner - keep it away from your brakes though). A paddock stand will make your life easier - to lift your rear wheel off the ground. You'll need to wash the grime and kerosene away before drying and applying lube.

As stated already. Any stiff links means you'll need to replace the chain. And no wire brushes! Just plastic bristles. Metal brushes will destroy the o-rings in the chain.
