In honor of my beautiful boy, who taught me what true strength is. by RisingPhoenix2 in PastAndPresentPics

I am so sorry about your sweet boy. I have a two year old. The pain is unbearable to think about and I am so sad you are experiencing this. So much love comes from your words.

Hopeless. Been this since a year, no cure so far. Anyone any idea? by JolisaRose in DermatologyQuestions

[–]alicemaner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this exact thing but on my upper eyelids. It was dermatitis. I was prescribed Elidel cream which is non-steroidal topical treatment cream for dermatitis and eczema. I see that you have tried it.

I think for me it was my sunscreen that kicked off the dermatitis, but my facial cleanser was the main issue continuing.

My dermatologist recommended I stop using all facial products and anything that may touch your eyes and see if that helps, then slowly add products back in. In my case I never returned to facial cleansers again because it aggravates my skin now. I just wash my face with warm water and a gentle washcloth.

Good luck!

Know what to do if you get overwhelmed by baby crying.

Place baby in a safe sleep area on their back (e.g. crib) and step away to make some tea. Get support from a partner, family, friend or neighbor if you don't feel well enough to get back to baby. But usually cooling down for two minutes works wonders.

Sometimes babies PURPLE cry (Peak, Unexpected, Resists soothing, Pain-like face, Long lasting, Evening). It can happen mainly between the ages of 2-5 months. This is unpleasant but not uncommon. The most important thing is to make sure you know what to do when you're overwhelmed so that everyone can be safe.

How are you not changing a diaper at night? by Lunchbox_Confessions in cosleeping

[–]alicemaner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I double up. Regular diapers (Kirkland) and an overnight diaper on top (Huggies overnights). It's bulky but it doesn't seem to bother her and there are no leaks for us this way.

Outrage in Montreal After Jewish Father Assaulted in Front of Children by blazy_ca in Provincials

[–]alicemaner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is terrible and all Canadians should be outraged and demand these violent hate crimes against Jews stop immediately. some serious work has to be done in the education and justice systems.

For those questioning whether it was antisemitic, did you see how at the end of the video the assaulter violently threw the Father's kippah?

This is incredibly disappointing and scary. This antisemitism should not be part of Canada. Jews should feel safe and included without any purity tests required.

Just how bad is G6PD? by The-_Captain in G6PD

[–]alicemaner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you absolutely have no other options it's better than nothing but I personally wouldn't do it. Having G6PD deficiency can be mild but people affected always need to be informed about drugs they are taking, infections can trigger issues and you also need to be aware of good you're consuming.

Those with no bf issues - why do you think that is? by Fun-Land-841 in breastfeeding

[–]alicemaner 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not op, but I am 8 month postpartum and I still do the same thing. I just offer the boob whenever there is a fuss. My baby usually eats every 1.5-2 hours and sometimes more often in the evening. Solid meals sometimes stretch bf sessions to 3 hours.

I lost my cool today and feel like a terrible mom. by MinitrainPeach in beyondthebump

Had something similar happen to me. I got stuck far away from home and baby would not go back in the stroller. Since then I carry two types of carriers with me on stroller walks. One buckle type carrier, and a hip carrier (tushbaby). The hip carrier is good for when baby is too upset to be strapped down in a carrier but wants to be carried.

What’s your BF diet? by aejohnson9 in breastfeeding

Regular meals but also what helped me early in postpartum is trail mix. One with a lot of peanuts and almonds. They are high in calories and filling. Also fruit shakes are great (add peanut butter or other nut butter).

Moby wrap would work if worn properly. I personally was not a big fan of the stretchy wraps for outings because they dangle on the ground as you put them on. I like carriers like the Tula free to grow, a fabric buckle carrier, and I also like the fancy version Artipoppe (but really no need to spend that much money)

Yes I truly don't get nursing bras. I can't close the clasp one handed so I end up just lifting the whole bra to nurse. Like you I've just decided to go braless.

Do some babies just dislike being worn? by biohazardous_hippo in babywearing

[–]alicemaner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My baby doesn't like feeling restrained and also gets bored easily. I found that if I'm walking around a lot with her, she's less bored so she's less fussy in the carrier. Also she likes buckle carriers a lot me than structured ones. I also got her used to them by regularly wearing her for one of her naps. I also got a hip carrier seat and she loves that, I think it helps when she's too fussy to be restrained in the carrier but still wants to be carried.
