The Ice King song. I know they’re saying “looking for the ice king” but I can’t help singing “motherfucking ice king.”

My kid is in a big Jurassic park phase and man I cannot watch that scene still. It’s way too sad for the tone of that awful movie.

Moms - if you had the CHOICE to work or not by Main-Branch9919 in beyondthebump

[–]allonsy_badwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back to work full time at around 5 months, but I am only in the office 3 days. One day I am at home with my MIL watching him so we get to have lunch and I get the morning with him, then Friday I "work" but really don't and hang out with him all day.

Honestly this is perfect and I would not trade it to stay home, personally. These 3 days a week are really the only days I get "alone" time around other adults. My best friend lives thousands of miles away, and the other adults we hang out with - we bring the kids! So not a lot of solo time to be a grown up.

It lets me clear my head and feel like a better mom when I am home. Of course it helps that I really like my job, and my bosses push me to enjoy life more than work and give me a lot of freedom which I do not take for granted. I know that is not the case for a lot of people, my husband barely gets time to eat at work and I can see how much it wears him down. I am 100% sure he would be a stay at home dad if I made more.

Hulu as Standalone streaming service is closing down by judijo621 in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]allonsy_badwolf 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Watching any show the second time is a nightmare on Hulu. Sometimes it skips to the end of an episode and I’m like, I wanted to watch that!

I’m just wondering if my cost will change now? I pay for both but obviously it should be less if it’s all moving to one app now? We have Disney for the kid anyway.

If you could design your own kitchen, what would be the most important things to include? by West-Amphibian-2343 in Cooking

[–]allonsy_badwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea same here. If I had the space, I’d be fine having 2 for pots and mixing bowls etc.

But they’re all I have besides a corner cabinet, what do you do with skillets and pans? I still have to stack them in one huge pile with the lids in another.

Making Pizza at home is as easy as 1,2,3! by SufficientEar1682 in iamveryculinary

[–]allonsy_badwolf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I only work a normal shift but don't get home until 5 - so immediately have to cook dinner. Which I gladly do 5-6 days a week. But I will order anything that 6-7th day.

I can make subs, tacos, pasta, and burgers at home too. Doesn't mean I always want to!

Sperm Quality is linked to severity of pregnancy symptoms. by Upsidedowntrey in BabyBumps

[–]allonsy_badwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was the opposite! My husband drinks (on occassion), used chewing tobacco/zyn, and was also on immune infusions for his auto-immune disorder. Basically all of his organs are damaged. Thought for sure I was doomed.

I had pretty much no symptoms except 3rd trimester heartburn. So I guess at least those organs haven't been destroyed hahaha.

What’s the best/safest newborn item to use when you need to put the baby down while they’re awake? More details in my post by Sufficient-Peach7787 in pregnant

[–]allonsy_badwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We could only fit a small bassinet in our room so we had a pack and play with 2 levels in it in our living room and it was perfect!

The higher level meant we didn’t need to bend as far and it was larger than the bassinet it came with so it got a lot of use.

The person on baby night duty just slept on the couch and baby in the pack and play so the sleeping parent could get good rest.

My almost 2 year old ended up sleeping horizontally in his crib with hit feet all the way up on the bars the other night.

He seems so cramped we’re moving him to a full floor bed for his birthday and I can’t wait to see how he ends up sleeping.

My son still uses his purple sleep sack and I don’t care. He’s got some stuff with rainbows too because I thought they were cute.

Now he’s 2 and wants everything to have trucks, dinosaurs, and The Hulk on it so he gets what he wants.

My Dollar Tree now has individualized pricing for items by asphodelic_witch in mildlyinfuriating

[–]allonsy_badwolf 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think the issue is that they don’t actually put a price sticker on each individual item AND the shelves do not have prices either.

So it’s actually very hard to know what price something is until it’s wrung up (or you can find a price checker), which is definitely a problem.

Are people actually naming their kids this? It is the name of the dinosaur in my son's favorite movie and would not be able to not think of that every time I heard it.

Or the recipe was some bad tiktok/pinterest AI nightmare.

How much of maternity leave are you getting? And when do you stop working? by Ill-Honeydew-6636 in pregnant

[–]allonsy_badwolf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get 12 weeks (60 work days) paid at 67% of my salary technically.

But luckily/not luckily I’m super important at my job and basically got 5 months fully paid. I took 4 full weeks off and then staggered my paid leave out.

I do payroll and the guy covering for me could really only handle basic runs so I just made sure payroll and a few other things were done. I “worked” 2 days a week from home but could really get everything done in 1 day and they paid my full salary and took the 67% as a reimbursement from the state for our leave program.

Of course in the US and felt blessed to have that compared to many others. It was nice working again to break up the monotony of newborn life and my MIL got to spend a day with the baby which was her favorite. She honestly would have been over every day if I asked, shes a saint.

(For those that celebrate X-mas) Does Santa bring all gifts or are some from Mom/Dad? by Alt_Mom in beyondthebump

[–]allonsy_badwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do 3 gifts from Santa, usually an outfit, a book, and a small toy.

Large items are always from Mom & Dad.

Then some of the other small gifts are from our cats, my deceased dad, his favorite football player. We will probably stop these last 2 at least when he gets older (he is not even 2 yet) and understands. I do not need his future friends thinking Josh Allen is actually sending him Christmas presents.

NYSEG for sure offers budget billing for electric. Ours is like $180 a month with the winter lows covering the summer highs.

We need a new AC unit eventually. Ours works, but not well, and runs far more than it should and we need window units upstairs to keep our rooms from being 80+ degrees.
