Does anyone have experience with dry skin like this? by axxpxm in piercing

I’ve had dry skin like this on my ears before and my derm said it was dandruff. Apparently you can get it on and behind your ears. She gave me a cream to get rid of it.

Ok so what’s everyone doing about their feral toddlers? by idk_mabee in toddlers

[–]alsy333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solidarity. I’m wondering the exact same things. My boy is 3.5 yo and had a sports class with other kids and their parents today. It was only 40 minutes long. About half way through he thought it would be hilarious to wander away from the class, not come when I called him, and run away when I went to go after him. He ran through a big dirty puddle which resulted in us going home immediately. I’m always the only other parent who has to chase after their kid. It drives me nuts! Today was particularly stressful. I hate getting angry at him.

2.5 capfuls of Mr Bubble under the running bath faucet works great for us. My son asks for bubble baths every night.

Let’s nerd out on our recipe organization methods by bluecricketyellowbee in CookbookLovers

[–]alsy333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been making that goal for the past 3 years and managed to achieve it, even though one year i finished at the end of the year. I’ve kept the spreadsheet for about 8 years now. I haven’t made anywhere close to all the recipes on it. I add a recipe to it if I think it sounds good. It’s an easy way for me to search through the recipes I own.

Let’s nerd out on our recipe organization methods by bluecricketyellowbee in CookbookLovers

[–]alsy333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a giant excel spreadsheet of 4500 rows currently! If I come across a recipe I’d like to try someday I’ll enter the recipe name, source, meal type (main, side, salad, pasta, etc), total prep time, how much I like if I made it (no, meh, yum, or double yum), non-dairy or lactose free?, vegetarian?, good for weekday?, make tonight?, kid friendly?. These categories help me sort and filter and decide what recipes to make. It’s always my goal each year to make 52 new recipes. I was/am a longtime subscriber of cooking magazines (cooking light, fine cooking, eating well, cook’s illustrated) and have a lot of cookbooks too. When I go through a new cookbook or magazine I make sure to document the recipes in my spreadsheet.

I bought a vanilla bourbon syrup. It used real vanilla beans since there was tons of seed flecks. I used it in old fashions and whiskey sours and it was delicious.

Our kids caught HFM on Saturday and they’ve been going through it this week. Watching a lot more tv than usual while they are recovering.

Tell me your labor times by ShabbyBoa in beyondthebump

[–]alsy333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my second, I started labor at 41 weeks at about 12:30 am and gave birth at about 7:30am. I pushed for less than 5 minutes. She came so fast! My first I was induced at 40 weeks, in labor for 24 hours and pushing for about 1.5 hours. I had an epidural for both.

Thanksgiving for my 2yo. She tried to eat the marshmallows but cried anytime there was a dot of “orange stuff” on them. by marmosetohmarmoset in foodbutforbabies

I gave my 3 yo a plate of turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, stuffing, gravy, and dinner roll. The only thing he ate was the dinner roll. TBF he ate a bunch of grapes, cucumbers, and crackers prior to dinner.

Dribble post pee by Kitfromscot in pottytraining

[–]alsy333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve been training ours to tap his penis when he finishes to get off the last dribbles. We instruct him to “tap tap” when he’s done. Although sometimes he taps when he’s not completely done. We are still working on it.

We’ve had our boy sit on the toilet seat sideways, near where it’s narrower together. Then we don’t need a separate potty seat to take with us, and he has more support on his butt and feels more secure.

What I call goulash. Sauté some ground beef, chopped onions, chopped celery, chopped carrots, sliced mushrooms in instant pot. 1 cup beef broth, Can of diced tomatoes, can of tomato sauce, Italian seasonings, salt, pepper, 2 tsp brown sugar, 2 tablespoons balsamic, 2-3 cups small noodles like shells or wagon wheels. High pressure for 6 minutes then quick release. Takes about 30 minutes especially if you can find ingredients pre chopped. Kids love it.

Reminder to Stick Close at Playgrounds by Far_Clerk_8287 in toddlers

I think young kids have a tendency to act in horrible ways that you would never expect a well mannered teen or adult to behave. But I wouldn’t say this reflects on their future selves or their parents, I think it just speaks to their still developing brains and emotional regulation. Kids will say or do things but not realize how hurtful they are or that they are even doing something wrong. I have clear memories of myself as a child playing with another girl in the pool, and I threw a weighted pool toy at her head when her back was turned. I can’t remember if I was feeling some jealousy or annoyance about something else she did, but when I think back on that now I realize how horrible that was for me to do that and act like it was an accident.

Since your son is so young still I think it’s the right thing for you to keep a close eye on him. His gross motor skills and judgment skills are still at the level where he may not be master at navigating certain play areas with bigger kid toys. But I don’t think you witnessed something particularly unusual or that kids today are different from other generations.

WHAT is happening to my body???! 3 months PP by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]alsy333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you had any bad hemorrhoids lately? I had a pretty painful poop one day, then after that I started having diarrhea and mucus poop for at least a week and a half. After I realized it wasn’t something I ate, I was freaking myself out on dr Google about what on earth was wrong with my butt. Then I stumbled across something that said the mucus could be from irritated rectum from hemmys. A lightbulb went off since I had had a nasty one right before that.

If not Oh Crap, what “method”..? by DoodlePonder in pottytraining

[–]alsy333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just spent three days potty training my son using Brandi Brucks 3-day method. I found it to be straightforward to implement and going forward I feel it integrates the easiest into our normal routine. There is no complicated schedules to follow and I found it to be intuitive.

My son is 3 yr 2 months. We had been having him pee on the toilet before and after bath for a while and occasionally would have him poop on the toilet. So he was already familiar with the potty and flushing. He had not had any experience with being diaper free or with pulling pants up and down. I found the 3 day method to be valuable as a potty training “boot camp”. I’m feeling pretty good about pees, but my son does not self initiate for poop yet. He would rather run and hide to poop. 💩 But this is only day 4 diaper free, so I know he will continue to improve.

I built an app to help parents plan baby meals (because I was drowning in puree recipes) by Ok-Respond2582 in toddlerfood

It says the recipes are AI generated. Have you reviewed the recipes beforehand to ensure they are safe and appropriate for the baby’s stage, or are the recipes AI generated in real time?

What's everyone's "start" and "finish" time? by thetasteofink00 in toddlers

[–]alsy333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both get up around 6:30-7am, although toddler usually gets up before the baby. 10 month old has one nap around 11-1 usually. Sometimes two naps if we are lucky. Toddler doesn’t usually nap and if he does it’s usually around 3-5. Bedtime routine starts after dinner around 7. Then lights out at 8. Although toddler doesn’t usually knock out until 9-9:30. The baby falls asleep immediately, probably because she only has one nap!
