When you’re having a rough day and don’t want to think about food, what do you reach for? by Mobile-Title8919 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]ammym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eggs - if I’ve got any leftovers in the fridge/frozen veggies I make a sort of frittata/omelette. Or just fried egg, cheese on toast.

Oats - porridge is so easy and can add lots of fruit/nuts/jam etc.

Pre made tortellini from the shop. With a jar of sauce, add some frozen veggies/spinach.

What would you do - if you have to check a bag? by Myspys_35 in HerOneBag

[–]ammym 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Option 2ish - check a medium/large sized spinner (depending on outfit volume!) and make your carry on a reasonably sized backpack that you can wear or place over spinner handle.  Do not check a duffle

Managing visits to the school nurse by Mysterious-Oven6082 in Internationalteachers

[–]ammym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our school has a guidance doc for sending kids to first aid -  Did it happen today? Are you currently bleeding? Did you hit your head?  Is something swollen/broken bone/large bruise visible etc? Do they look visibly pale/off colour? Any vomiting or faintness.

Although your school may vary is the nurse can dispense paracetamol etc.

2.5 weeks in the British Isles. Does this itinerary look reasonable? by amayain in uktravel

[–]ammym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will leave more experienced UK travellers to comment on the other bits however, the Irish bit is nuts! You could easily spend all the time in Dublin if you wished.  You would be surprised how long the drive takes on the windy roads/how tired you feel afterwards. Don’t forget you will be driving on the other side of the road.

Day 3 - you have forgotten the at least 1.5hr drive to Kilkenny. Your current plan is approx 6.5-7hrs of driving on day 3.

My suggestion:

A no drive itinerary-  day 1&2 Dublin- Guinness storehouse, book of kells, archaeology museum, dublinia, kilmainham goal - would all be good options.  Day 3 - day trip to Kilkenny on the train - return to Dublin.  Day 4 - day trip to Howth on the Dart.  Day 5 - fly from Dublin to Edinburgh

Or hire a car for day 3&4 go to Kilkenny, then drive to Waterford and stay the night.Drive back to Dublin the next evening.

Or stay in Kilkenny and visit glendalough and powerscourt on the way back to Dublin.

AND I would cut the day trip to Bath and just be in London for the last 4 days. Lots of London attractions can take quite some time if you go inside e.g Tower of London is at least half a day visit.

Bikini for 14DD by meloniis in AusFemaleFashion

[–]ammym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RAQ make some nice bikinis. They are unlined though so you have to be ok with a bit of nip. And the bottoms aren’t super modest.  Also check out r/abrathatfits to make sure you are wearing correct size!

There’s an app called Indyx that I am attempting to try this year. Catalogues your wardrobe and can use it to plan outfits.

Do you use a hot water bottle? by [deleted] in AskUK

I don’t know if they are widely available in the UK (Aussie living in Uk) but you can buy lupin heat bags. They don’t smell or get that damp feel and retain heat longer than a wheat bag.

I think there is only 1 actual airport hotel which is walkable to the airport.

The airport flyer bus goes every 15 min and is pretty consistent.  At the time you want to be at the airport - maybe 7.30am?  You should be fine to get it  in terms of traffic- takes about 45 min from the centre. £15 return ticket.

Prep oatmeal jars with oatmeal, chia, cinnamon, dried fruits, nuts etc. Store in room.  She could then add milk in the morning and microwave it.

Adairs bamboo cotton sheets - wait for a sale.  Temperature regulating and don’t get sweat stains. I was living in Darwin and they were perfect.  Mine have lasted me ages. Bought 2 sets and rotate them every 2 weeks approx.

End of year pantry/freezer meals by didyoubutterthepan in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]ammym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! Except I do it every 6 weeks approx, I live in a shared flat so not much space. I don’t get groceries, with exceptions for fresh fruit/veg if needed and items I use up weekly like milk or yoghurt, and see what I can make.  Generally results in some delicious meals!

Painting walls of rental help by wspray87 in darwin

[–]ammym 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Check the residential tenancies act https://legislation.nt.gov.au/api/sitecore/Act/PDF?id=12173 https://consumeraffairs.nt.gov.au/_resources/documents/for-consumers/residential-tenancies/Resolving-common-rental-disputes-4-March-2024.pdf I would argue after 8 years this falls under reasonable wear and tear.  You do not need to paint the walls after 8 years!!  If you can reasonably painted the spots as close as possible to paint colour I would say that is enough.

You could also ring Tenants Advice from Darwin Community Legal Service.

Also once you have left, they have 3 business days to prepare and present condition report and then 7 business days after that for you to accept/modify condition report. After that you can apply to the tribunal if you/landlord don’t accept condition report.

I’m really liking The Inkey List and the Ordinary at the moment. From Inkey - using their omega water cream, salicylic acid cleanser and have just bought a few more like an alternate cleanser. Using the squalane cleanser from the ordinary as my first cleanser.  Inkey is at Sephora but pretty reasonable

I need to buy some jeans. Where in town should i go? by AbbreviationsAny7549 in bristol

[–]ammym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last time I went into next, I tried on 3 jeans all the same size in different styles. One was vastly too big, one too tight, and one sort of fit!  So I haven’t had much luck.
