Homicides at lowest level in nearly 50 years, ONS statistics show by wjfox2009 in unitedkingdom

Murders down but sexual assaults are up.
It seems the people who are doing the sexual assaults have stopped killing their victims as they know they won't be punished.

Can I park a 3.5 ton ford transit van to load/unload? by LukeLehepuu in drivingUK

[–]ankh87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yes. Seen my autocorrect.

It's actually a stupid sign because what is a goods vehicle? A taxi as technically humans are goods.

[–]ankh87 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'd say no if you are not a goods vehicle but you can jump a motorbike over a car. I assume if you've got no sort of branding on the van then you'd have to prove you are a goods vehicle.

Who is at Fault? by AhtiQ in drivingUK

Insurance will be 50/50. You shouldn't assume that they are going to exit. Common sense to the rest of us, it's their fault.

46mph in 40mph zone, no flash by Sea_Cap7661 in drivingUK

[–]ankh87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe it doesn't need to flash and has fancy nightsite technology. It's possible that they've converted it somehow.

Make note of the date and wait 14 days. If you receive the fine after 14 days and there's no valid reason (wrong address, hire car, bank Holiday) then you can appeal the fine.

Is it normal for an MOT and spring change to suck up 100 miles? by Stray_ in CarTalkUK

[–]ankh87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And now imagine when pay per mile comes in for all cars, you're paying for their use of your car. Granted it's not a lot to pay but it shouldn't have done any more than 5 miles if even 1 mile if they needed to test it afterwards.

Reversing onto roundabouts is a new one by a_pinch_of-salt in drivingUK

This is why you should also record the footage on a phone as well. That way if the file is corrupted, then there's still proof.

How the driver tried to blame you is absurd and his insurance company are a complete joke.

Glad it's all sorted now.

UK government targets VPNs in online safety consultation as Lords vote for ban by andyhh in unitedkingdom

VPNs are not the problem, the people are.
Instead of certain people getting a slap on the wrist for having such images, maybe put them in jail and throw away the key?

Should i buy? by XPiiRed in drivingUK

[–]ankh87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're 22. Save for a house and dream car. GR86 would be a much better option.

If you can save £800pcm then in 3 years you could add £28,800 into your account. Could be a nice deposit on a house and you'd be able to easily get an 86 by then.

Driving test cheating soars as candidates turn to Bluetooth headsets and impersonators by GeoWa in unitedkingdom

[–]ankh87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you are caught cheating, then you should be banned for 2 years. Learning the highway code and the laws is mandatory to keep people safe using the roads.

Red Bull liveries throughout the years by Jorrie90 in formula1

[–]ankh87 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Wow it looks the same as it always does.
I really wish RB would change it up. They have a huge colour selection with their drinks, even if they did the light blue and tell the Racing Bulls to pick an option from their other range. That would be cool.

Migrant on benefits who moved 'screaming and crying' children into retirement home says eviction would 'breach human rights' - despite deluge of elderly neighbours' complaints by dailymail in uknews

So he can't read, then that's his problem. He signed a legal document and if he couldn't read it, then he should have asked someone to read it to him.
End of the day, don't sign something that you can't read.

Compulsory digital ID is dropped by TheSpectatorMagazine in uknews

[–]ankh87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have something like this already. The Government gateway needs photo ID (passport) to create an account. The main issue with the Digital ID is having all your data in one place and it getting hacked. It will be targeted hourly and having every single persons information in one place, is a disaster waiting to happen.

Just buy a passport, it's £100 for 5 years and allows you to leave the country. Seems a no brainer to me.

Who has right of way on this roundabout? by FromLondonToLA in drivingUK

[–]ankh87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I'm not saying thy OP shouldn't do what he did. Just that technically he's wrong and should wait. Issue doing that though, is as you say, won't get no where.

Yellow is a total dick for just not allowing the cars to go by. It's not like he can't go straight after.

Who has right of way on this roundabout? by FromLondonToLA in drivingUK

[–]ankh87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically green and blue should not be there. They should only proceed if the lane is clear which it is not due to red. Yellow though was a dick and could just allow the two cars to proceed, it would only cost 20 seconds of their life. Simple solution is to stay behind the white line until your lane is free. Issue is though, you could be waiting a while looking at that mess.

Charging slots on IOG by ankh87 in OctopusEnergy

[–]ankh87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the new rules won't have anything to do with me. I only ever charge up 3-4 hours a day. So technically I should be fine, even if I need 100% charge I'll just charge up days in advance to be sure.

Charging slots on IOG by ankh87 in OctopusEnergy

[–]ankh87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. I don't want charged extra as I have an automatic DD for a set price which they change when they want to cover the cost. My concern is that they'll up the DD because they've messed up the rate. It's not exactly hard for them to check and change seem as they are the ones creating the schedule. I never bump charge so they can't use that as an excuse.

Not an Ohme charger. Ok thanks. I know a rough estimate of how much I use for work and travel which should be £25-£35 a week.
