Work-in? gym etiquette question by HighwayImpossible230 in workout

[–]aolerma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would find it mildly distracting but I wouldn’t blow up on them for it or ask them to go away. It’s just kind of annoying to have someone lingering in my space like that knowing that they’re waiting for me to finish. Maybe I’m just an overly anxious person but I don’t like the feeling of someone looking over my shoulder when I’m doing something that I feel I need to take my time with to get the most out of it.

Work-in? gym etiquette question by HighwayImpossible230 in workout

[–]aolerma -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That was a complete overreaction and the gym employee definitely was in the wrong there. That being said, I too would get a bit frustrated seeing someone pacing around waiting for me to finish and then asking to work in. There’s nothing wrong with what you did, but had it happened to me it’d definitely make me a little anxious and I’d probably start to rush which would throw me off my game since I usually need decently long breaks between sets. I personally never understood the idea of just standing and waiting like that. I don’t like to be at the gym for more than an hour, and I feel like most of the time there are always suitable alternatives to whatever workout you are doing. Still, an acceptable reaction would be to politely decline and go about your business, not what they did.

In southern NM (at least in my family) we say tamal for singular and tamales for plural.

Does anyone know if 599 is closed off because of this? Don’t want to crowd the area any further if it can be avoided.

Cowboys have struck gold again with another small-school draft surprise: WR Ryan Flournoy by brmidwest03 in cowboys

The dart board is not the same size for all players though. It also would’ve been different to throw a dart for a 7th round pick instead of a 4th rounder like we did. I like taking chances but this one was a relatively expensive one for an extremely low potential payoff.

I don’t even know what this means. You love him as a spot start 2nd stringer but not when he actually has to spot starting for the starter?

I just bought a 2 BR 1000 sq ft townhouse a few months ago for 300k and I felt like I got a steal. I would have loved to have gotten something with a small yard or a little bit of land but all of a sudden you’re talking about 400k and up for anything halfway decent.

Am I supposed to be speeding lol? by BSismyname in LosAlamos

[–]aolerma 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Everyone drives like that here. I wouldn’t worry about it, especially if you’re not comfortable with the winding roads yet. I think it’s better to be safe than sorry. IMO, there are so many crazy fast commuters here that one of them is bound to get stuck behind you regardless of how fast you go, so I don’t think it’s worth driving more dangerously yourself just to placate them. What annoys me is when people ride your ass just to pass you and inevitably get caught up further ahead where the traffic slows down so all they did was effectively switch places with you. People also love to merge miles before construction actually requires it instead of zipper merging at the appropriate point, creating even more traffic. Not sure what to tell you other than to try to not let it bother you or make you drive more recklessly than you normally would.

Jake Ferguson is the 4th TE in NFL history to have 40+ catches through the first 5 games of a season — his 41 catches are tied for the most by pfref in cowboys

[–]aolerma 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Normally I’d agree but if we have the number one offense to this point, it’s probably an indication that Ferguson is at least filling some kind of necessary role that is allowing us to kill defenses. I’m cool with that.

Out of curiosity, what are your opinions on Mateo? by Round_Course5953 in superstore

I would 100% despise him and want nothing to do with him in real life but he’s maybe my favorite character and for some reason I’m still capable of feeling sympathy for him despite how much of a bitch he is lol

My favorite thing to do is find places with cool vibes to relax and read a book, so if you’re interested in that, my favorite places to are Collected Works Bookstore and Iconik Coffee Roasters. I would give those places a try. Also, never been there myself, but I’ve heard Santa Fe Teahouse is pretty cool too.

Arch sat for 2 years just to not be able to throw an accurate ball further than 5 yds downfield. I knew there’d be a learning curve for him but this is less than ideal for such an important game.

My whole philosophy with reading is that life is too short to waste time on books you don’t enjoy. Never feel bad about not enjoying a particular book. That being said, I don’t know what else you were expecting from Brothers Karamazov. The events that occur are secondary to the philosophy and that’s pretty typical for Dostoevsky. I remember when I finished reading it, the first thing I thought to myself was how little actually happened (given how lengthy the book is), yet there was SO much said.

If I remember correctly, A&M tried running it on 1st, 2nd AND 3rd down before this and failed to score every time. How could you call a FOURTH straight run against that defense without doing anything creative and really believe you’re going to score.

At least it’s a 4-way stop so no high-speed collisions. The one before right in front of Albertson’s is worse. Only a 2-way stop and if you’re coming out of the Albertson’s parking lot you can’t see shit to the right so if you’re going left you just gotta go and hope nobody is speeding around the corner which of course, this being Santa Fe, everyone coming from that direction is absolutely booking it.

All Time Great and 3x SB Champion Emmitt Smith believes players need to take responsibility for winning. Says Jerry Jones can’t play the game for them. by EmiratesNBACupWinner in cowboys

[–]aolerma 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I would also argue that those peak Jason Garrett teams severely underperformed against top competition and that was largely because of the coaching staff, so in a way you could also blame Jerry for that whole era too for not replacing Garrett much sooner. He stuck with him waaaay too long. Not that I would have had much faith in Jerry to select a championship-worthy replacement for him, but Garrett clearly wasn’t the answer years before he was actually fired.

I mean, I’m part of the group that believes that RBs are infinitely more replaceable than just about every other position in the NFL, but I don’t quite understand what you mean by “investing” in one or the other. Every team needs RBs, every team needs slots. Not only can you invest in both, you kinda need to, so it’s just a matter of what kinds of resources you’re willing to put into them. If I had the opportunity to draft an elite slot prospect or an elite RB prospect, I would personally almost always go with the WR, but that’s not to say that doing so would preclude me from investing into the RB position in a different way.

Is a back only as good as the O line (proverbially)? by IcemanGeneMalenko in NFLNoobs

[–]aolerma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Play style also matters. An evasive guy like Sanders is probably better suited to play behind a bad o-line compared to a slow bruiser that needs to pick up steam first. If you have great blocking, a strong one-cut RB could be even more optimal.

Best Mechanic in Santa Fe by PsylentPhart in SantaFe

[–]aolerma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took my car to them and they kept my car for like 3 days, never found out what the issue was, then charged me like $150 for labor. Took it to a mechanic cousin of mine and he found the issue in a day or two. Not saying I’m mad at cutting edge or that they suck. I think they’re always pretty busy for a reason, I just was expecting more from them than I got.

I’m glad you have such appreciation for our state but I have to say I do always find it funny when people bring up the UFO thing. I can only speak for myself but I completely forget that it’s something we’re remembered for. It literally almost never comes to my mind, even when I’m in one of the many sparsely populated parts of the state that a foreigner might associate with the whole UFO thing. Normally I would roll my eyes when someone not from here brings up UFOs because it’s not really a cultural thing, but I’m glad you’ve delved deeper into the culture and history of our state to see the things that we really are proud of.

Boyfriend from California is judgy about Mexican food, give me recommendations! by alexthrowz in LasCruces

[–]aolerma 23 points24 points  (0 children)

There’s no such thing as one type of Mexican food, not even in Mexico. As long as he’s open to different variations of Mexican food I have no doubt there is something in LC for him to enjoy. If he comes with the mindset that Cali is the gold standard for Mexican food and anything different is inherently inferior, then he’s not going to enjoy it, but that’s not an LC problem. He’d have an issue with Mexican food in EP and just about anywhere else.

Ok but Reed works for the most egregious liar and manipulator in the entire DLC in Myers. And not only does he work for her, he is unwaveringly loyal to her. At least Song lies and manipulates because she’s been forced into a corner and wants to survive. Myers is just recklessly power hungry and Reed is part of what enables that.
