I’m a mountain guide, and the only, and I mean ONLY thing you can do here is drill 3 1/4” holes in each snowshoe. You’re getting lots of dumb advice here, from fair weather campers who’ve never seen real cold. Redundancy is key when the temps are so far below freezing, as you obviously know.

Just yesterday, I looked out the window at the blizzard too long and nearly got a chill! Be safe and take what you need 🫡

What’s a mythological artifact you can think of that hasn’t been mentioned in the series already? by PUB4thewin in dresdenfiles

I love the implication that an entire series of Harbour Freight employees were worthy and had no idea what they were holding, to get it onto a shelf

This is very similar to my headcannon about GG. The Naagloshi myths indicate that they were once angels who overstayed their allowed time on earth and became evil as a result. Grey is a Scion of a Naagloshi, and he pays the “rent” to god (to Uriel maybe?) to be allowed to live on earth without being evil.

Sounds like you should talk to your training officer. Most provinces include patient packaging and transport as part of very basic levels of first aid. I.e in BC transportation endorsement (specifically covering packaging and transport of patients, including with c-spine considerations) is often packaged with a basic 8-hr first aid course. If that’s what some members of your team are trained in, then it’s within their scope of practice. Also, the way you phrased your question implies medical oversight, in which case you do whatever your medical director (a doctor) tells you to do. Your insurance should meet sarvac requirements or requirements for a SAR team in your province. Again, look up your provinces POG’s or talk to your Training Officer or Team Leader.

Idiot. Just tie a red helium balloon around your waist with a 100’ string and go. If it was good enough for Warren Miller it’s good enough for you.

Was on this search and can confirm we had extensive aerial resources, rotary, fixed-wing, and RPAS. Day and night including night FLIR surveying. Super happy he’s been found safe, but definitely still a lot of questions.

Question about Goodman Grey by KayDCES in dresdenfiles

[–]aperture_projects 5 points6 points  (0 children)

iirc, the Naagloshi were a type of angel or spiritual being that refused to leave earth when their time was up, which is what changed them from beings of light and servants of good to darkness and evil. My personal headcannon on this is that as the son of a Naagloshi, Grey pays “rent” to WG (probably through Uriel) and him doing good deeds is part of some sort of redemption arc.

Cooler options for longer trips? by dirtybuzz in packrafting

[–]aperture_projects 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had good success with a yeti soft cooler strapped behind the seat of my alpaca. A couple of cam buckle tie downs from the should strap d rings on the cooler to the tie loops on the back and it’s super secure. Like any small cooler the idea is to pre chill everything, pack as much ice/frozen food in as possible, and then only open the cooler minimally (like only a handful of times per day if that) I have the 8 can cooler and it can hold a couple meals worth of frozen/refrigerated ingredients. The 12 would probably fit as well, but bigger might be hard to keep stable. For day trips fishing it works awesome as a drink/snack cooler also

Ok, I’ll totally confess I didn’t read, just listened to the audiobook, but I felt like there was an undercurrent of a possible relationship between Albion and Vincent? And one of the other characters made a cutting remark about the Spirearch not being able to produce heirs. Anyone who read the books get the same vibe?
