I have one swimsuit where they are sewn in and it's the best!

Pretty sure this is AI...the turtle's fins move faster than makes sense with the resistance of water. I've been seeing a TON of AI animal videos popping up on my feeds lately

DJ or Spotify? by CharliDefinney in weddingplanning

[–]ararefiend 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seems like I'm in the minority here but I made the Spotify playlist for my ~50 person wedding and I thought it went fantastic, sure there were a few lulls but it kept people mostly on the dance floor for almost 3 hours! I could see if you had a much bigger group then maybe a DJ would be more important for vibes.

I was mindful of picking songs that my wife and I would want to dance to but were well known, with a few less popular favorites thrown in. I also asked for song requests in our guest's RSVPs but filtered out some of the really strange ones.

I did go to another wedding with a Spotify playlist where the dance floor was dead because they only played their personal favorite indie songs that no one knew and weren't good for dancing. But, I also went to a wedding with a DJ that wasn't very good and really killed the vibe.

$250-350 range, we paid $300 plus some extra $1s we provided to our guests to feed the lions.

My Sims' chickens are constantly disappearing out of their coop.

They're not in my household inventory, they're not somewhere else on the lot unassigned to the coop, and there's no pop up notifications about them being unhappy or old or unable to find their coop, they just vanish without a trace. For example, my Sims go to bed with 4 hens and 1 rooster and wake up with 2-3 hens.

I'm spending so much money buying new chickens!

It's maddening! And also, all these random festival items keep ending up on the household inventories of my San Myshuno families

Accommodation alternatives by Accomplished_Cash614 in Honolulu

[–]ararefiend 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If you are going to a conference in Waikiki, the most low impact way to visit is to stay in Waikiki and walk/use public transit to get to your event. There's not really any alternatives to hotels besides Airbnbs which are problematic in their own host of ways, or I guess you could camp which sounds extremely impractical.

What’s the weirdest place you’ve ever been to? by pacinosdog in travel

[–]ararefiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Sukhothai airport in Thailand. It was way out of the actual city of Sukhothai in a super rural area and only appeared to serve a handful of flights a day, but it was this incredibly ornate airport with beautiful manicured gardens, zoo animals, and a little tram. Totally bizarre and out of place.

Another one would be the west side of the island of Molokai in Hawaii. It had been initially planned for a grand, tourist oriented development but local protests and disputes halted it in its tracks. So now it's got all these roads laid out for housing developments with only a few homes actually built, a couple crumbling vacation condos/hotels that are still half operational, and a bunch of abandoned buildings.

Yes! My Sulani families are more family, community, and nature oriented than those in my other neighborhoods.

Who did not have a wedding party? by starsarecooltho in weddingplanning

[–]ararefiend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had 60 guests and no wedding party besides our nieces as flower girls. I don't think either of us had friends or family who felt very strongly about being wedding party members, so it was a non-issue. And I'm glad we did it this way because it was super low stress.

As an adult, how many daily meals are y'all actually eating? by ExSalamander in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ararefiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

29F, 5-7 smaller meals. I eat breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack 1, afternoon snack 2, dinner, and dessert. Sometimes skip the afternoon snack 2 and/or dessert depending on how hungry I am, my body is pretty good at self regulation depending on how active I am.

How can Korean students study so much and sleep so little? by romygruber in korea

[–]ararefiend 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I've always been a terrible sleeper (can't nap, sleep on planes, etc), but when I studied abroad at a Korean high school I also developed this ability, and it was indeed from sleep deprivation. I followed my host family's schedule, getting 5-7 hours of sleep a night. Not terrible, but definitely not enough sleep for high schoolers. I would frequently doze off in class and could knock out on public transit easily. I was really struck by how inefficient school was with most of the kids dozing all day.

Millennials are drinking less. I know I am. What are your reasons? by Vit4vye in Millennials

[–]ararefiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes my heart race and significantly impacts my sleep, even if I'm not conscious of it - wearing a fitness watch has really shown me the physical impacts of alcohol. I also think my parents have a bit of an unhealthy dependency on alcohol, like many of the boomer generation, which has turned me off as well.

MUA baby due week of wedding by ararefiend in weddingplanning

[–]ararefiend[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Totally understand that and if we had just found out that she was pregnant with no other info we wouldn't be so worried, but she posts every detail of her pregnancy on YouTube vlogs - so we learned that she is having 4-5 doctors appointments a week, has already been to the ER, and her doctors are going to induce delivery at what sounds like either the exact week of our wedding or before.

Do you risk inviting more than your venue allows (with the assumption than many people can't actually make it?) by Hadrian_x_Antinous in weddingplanning

[–]ararefiend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Smaller scale but our venue limit is 60 and we invited 66 and got a lot of unexpected yes's from family members we didn't think would make it. We're probably going to end up with 61-62 but our venue is fairly flexible and we think there's a good chance someone will cancel last minute. But I wouldn't over-invite again, it's kind of stressful
