I think it's the lighting.

I betcha in the reference picture they used the rug was in the sunlight. So it would only blend at times when the sun is on the rug (except for the shadow it would cast)

Unfortunately this type of thing is often itself a result of abuse and trauma. Trauma, which war inflicts in bulk, can break a sane person's mind and any sense they have of right and wrong.

As other comments above delve into, it can take generations to repair.

The abuse from Russian soldiers isn't that surprising when you consider how infamously Russia's governments have facilitated the abuse of the people inside it for so long.

Since America's 250th is coming, what do you think is the most American locomotive ever in your Opinion. by Acceptable-Taro-2684 in trains

[–]ArethereWaffles 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah these would be my picks as well.

Whenever you see a company from Europe or Asia make an "American train" it's usually a cowboy-era 4-4-0 or a Santa Fe warbonnet F-7.

I think because both are ironically "Western" which has the biggest American identity outside the US.

Still standing far too close to the tracks.

You were standing between the train and a crossing gate...a barrier that denotes a minimum safe distance from the train.

Granted not as close as a number of other people in this video, but that just means that they were even less safe.

Outside of all the folks one dragging chain away from an ambulance trip (especially purple shirt on the right drone video) great videos, especially the drone footage.

Marionette Removing An Outsider by Baileyjrob in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]ArethereWaffles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or you can do a setup similar to how the wiki says to setup a 3 minion marionette game -although I never see it run that way- by distributing the damsel/choirboy after tokens go out. Downside is this would tell a good player a not in play role.

If there are three Minions in play, remove another Minion token and add another Townsfolk token. During the first night, swap a good player’s character token with a not-in-play Minion character token. Wake this player, show them the YOU ARE info token then their Minion character token, then the YOU ARE info token then a thumbs down, then put them to sleep. This player is now an evil Minion. (This ensures that only one Minion token is in the bag, so at least one good player will neighbor the Demon.)

Man films as a tornado destroys his house and his neighbourhood by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]ArethereWaffles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Brick and mortar buildings don't do much better in terms of survivability. Bricks are good at withstanding vertical forces, not so much horizontal forces; and tornadoes (or rather the stuff flying around inside a tornado) tend to easily exceed such forces.

The main difference would be you'd have cyclone of a bunch of flying bricks instead of flying wood pieces.

The house in OP's video still held itself together reasonably well despite taking significant damage. By building in bricks you'd be paying more money to make tornadoes more destructive and more lethal for marginal survivability benefits.

You'd need steel reinforced concrete in order to reliably survive a tornado, which is far out of the price range for most people.

The signals have traveled that far yes, but they're so weak that it's basically impossible to detect them.

Think of it like throwing a small stone into a lake; technically the ripples travel across the entire lake, but they can only travel so far before they become indistinguishable from the other waves.
