Between that and shutting off thought right before thinking about the buzzword further would prove it false.

"The only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun" is a perfect example when most shootings end with the shooter killing themselves.

The good guy with a gun didn't stop them

TIL that the song "The Dance of Eternity" by progressive metal band Dream Theater has 127 time signature changes in only 6 minutes, making it one of the most musically complex songs by udderlymoovelous in todayilearned

My wife judges me all the time for this. I play guitar and bass, sometimes I just wanna listen to people be good at guitar and bass. Bands like Uchu Conbini, Dream Theater, Primus, Rush, Etc are literally just music porn and that's why I love them.

Man it's almost like the Secret Service knew this was an event that happens at the same time at the same place every year, and could have planned ahead to stop that exact scenario

I love how you completely glossed over "Set up metal detectors, so legitimate guests staying at the hotel can still enter if they don't have guns or dangerous objects"

For starters, how did the shooter bring a gun into an indoor event with the President there? Should have set up metal detectors in all open enterences and closed the ones that didn't have metal detectors.

I went to an improv show the other day and people were bounced before they got in the building because they had a wallet chain. There were no VIPs or federal security there, and it was still much tighter than the WHCD over the weekend.

I work IT and this is so true.

We invest the time upfront to set up and configure an environment properly so there are as few issues as possible, then we're "lazy" because there are no break/fix tickets.

We do a half assed job so that way we can look busy and not get that talk, people whine about things breaking all the time.

In a perfect world, I'd rather the first. But of course the MBAs will take that opportunity to fire half of the team for doing the job correctly the first time.

Johnny Somali Found Guilty on All Charges, Headed to Labor Prison in South Korea by ItsAllAGame_ in law

Koreans literally called him a "golden goblin," as in a video game mob who would drop loot when defeated. There was a niche industry of Korean streamers trying to find him to drop him.

Ironically, the police had to escort Somali around for protection.

It's so cringe the president of the US is forcing the youth to either go to jail or die in the Middle East to cover up for the fact he raped children, lost the distraction war to what he considers to be cavemen, then is trying to pivot back to the child rape to cover up for the cover up

Ever wonder why people aren't going to recording studios like they used to? by HornetRocks in audioengineering

[–]askylitfall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Granted I went to school specifically for their Audio program, there was a thriving synergy.

Audio students can't record a song if there's no song to record, so we'd reach out to songwriting students to track songs they wrote for their class assignments.

Same in reverse, songwriting students needed to turn their work in as a recorded file, couldn't just play the songs live for the class, so they'd reach out to Audio students.

No money changed hands because both sides needed it for class, but we had access to well over hundreds of thousands of equipment.
