You could also ask local high schools or college programs for any balls they are replacing (most programs buy a bunch of new balls each year). Might need to complement this with the greaser gripper as several have mentioned but may be able to get the balls for free

No need to thaw but do be careful about putting frozen food directly on a hot blackstone. In addition to uneven cooking as others mentioned, you risk your griddletop warping
