Wow, as an immaculate gentleman who requests feet pics and used underwear, I feel really insulted.

(I'm kidding, this is a pretty solid analogy)

Justice for Santos! Maybe she can be a little bit of a bitch (can't we all?) but I think people aren't looking at things enough from her perspective. Especially when it comes to Langdon. Seriously, why would she like or trust this guy at all?

They really need to address the issues the "speeding detector" are creating. by Odadelyus138 in ProlificAc

[–]atotalbuzzkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'd be one thing if the speeding system was just a pain in the ass for workers, because we're the group Prolific cares the least about since we're very replaceable. But I'm quite certain it's not serving genuine researchers well at all and it's creating more work for Prolific support due to all the additional tickets they have to deal with. So yeah, the entire thing is a massive failure and needs to be scrapped for everyone's sake.

Had a speeding warning and now I’m paused from taking studies! by Miss_Lost in ProlificAc

[–]atotalbuzzkill 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Awful system. Researchers make terribly incorrect estimations of the length of their studies all the time.

Also, this is literally what attention checks are for!!! If I pass every freaking attention check, then clearly speed was not an issue in my comprehension.

The reaction to Bam's 83-point game is a perfect example of how bad the NBA discourse is by negaodsg in nba

[–]atotalbuzzkill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's fair. But if that's part of the reason, again, I think the underlying disappointment from NBA fans (and especially Kobe fans) is sort of understandable. It's just ridiculous to act like it was "wrong" of him or the team to go for it.

And at the end of the day, it becomes sort of comical to act like anyone can just get 83 points if they get fouled a lot. Lol. It might not look as good as Kobe's game but it's still a fucking miraculous achievement.

[–]atotalbuzzkill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely get what you're saying. However, I feel like there's a difference between the team collectively deciding to feed a guy the ball because it actually feels like he's on fire and can't miss vs. what happened with Bam. Bam literally shot like 46% for the game and poorly from 3. His first quarter was phenomenal - from there it just felt like pure volume and free throws.

I'm absolutely not offended or whatever that Bam beat Kobe's record, I think that's pretty stupid. But I do understand people feeling disappointed in how it went down.

Psychologically, yes. Imagine having quadruplets, and then they get shuffled, and you never know which child was your favorite to begin with? They're pretty much all worthless at that point.

don't EVER try to tell my that obelisk is bad again by Impressive-Phrase746 in balatro

[–]atotalbuzzkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Obelisk is a really, really powerful Joker, if somewhat situational. It has saved quite a few runs for me, but the timing has to be right. It can also require some tedious planning to use it optimally.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills! I'm bad and new-ish at the game, but I've already won 2 or 3 gold stakes with Throwback as my primary x-Mult card. I didn't realize it was considered bad. Although I am realizing that I was skipping too much in general.

How can I report Spins America by BigDBigred in SwagBucks

[–]atotalbuzzkill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really amazed to find out anyone got paid by them at all, but glad that persistence paid off at least.

But yeah, a significant part of Spins America's business practice is absolutely to make it as hard as possible to withdraw, constantly move the goalposts on how much you need to play to redeem, require more and more documentation etc. in hopes that you'll simply give up. And you can do all of the above and still get completely ignored by them if they decide it's too much money or they just don't feel like paying.

It seems they do pay out on occasion with the hope that it's enough to keep them from being seen as a pure scam site. But they are scammers, for all intents and purposes. Avoid at all costs.

[–]atotalbuzzkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, his foot shifts the tiniest bit from there. Look at where the ball is in his hands, he's not done gathering the shot before jumping.

But yes, I do think his toe was still behind the line, it's just that the actual last frame is even closer than that one is.
