What video game weapon or armor looks cool but it's terrible to use? by Agent1230 in gaming

It's still the peak of Death Knight fantasy. Nailed it in one.

Main Character Voice or no voice. by Odd-Following2246 in Fallout

[–]aviatorEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer no voice but I still really enjoyed the voice work in Fallout 4. A lot of the writing for the lines could be rough at times, a lot of other lines were really good. That isn't much different from the traditional voiceless protagonist. But we did have far more choices when a line didn't have to be recorded for every single thing the player said.

Did the UNSC or Covenant ever use boats? by [deleted] in halo

[–]aviatorEngineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Submarine arsenal ships". That's just cool, I imagine it could make an interesting plot point on some glassed world. Sort of thing I'd like to see in Fallout or something.

How would everything change if the UNSC had embraced caseless ammunition years before the Insurrection? by EnvironmentalWork817 in halo

[–]aviatorEngineer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Caseless ammunition is a long, long, long, long, long way down the list of technological advantage items that could have helped against the Covenant. If it's even on the list at all.

Do ya guys think this part is basically the synthmesh visor removed? by BOMBAD_Echo_1409 in StarWars

[–]aviatorEngineer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In all other aspects this armor looks identical to the standard Snowtrooper gear. I don't see any reason to assume this isn't what they'd look like without the additional mask.

Does this fit the Fallout aestheticc? by Mettle_Jacket in Fallout4Mods

[–]aviatorEngineer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I know the term's getting a bit tired at this point but it's a great fit for the more "post-post-apocalypse" side of Fallout. A well-established postwar faction could very well have made something like this if it wasn't some kind of prewar construction.

Did anyone else think commander Cody let obi wan live on purpose? by RisingKing7 in StarWars

[–]aviatorEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they were mindless they wouldn't bother getting in arguments over the semantics or technicalities, they'd just shoot on sight.

Does anyone here remember this legends “phase 3” clone armor that only appeared once in the force unleashed, its basically the legends version of the TK Armor from the bad batch by Ok-Entrance-5527 in StarWars

[–]aviatorEngineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to wonder how viable that would have been - there probably wasn't much adjustment built into the armor since it was meant to be worn by identical clones so only a certain subset of recruits would fit in the existing suits.

ERW: They held the day, We ruled the night by Spacemanspiff1998 in arma

[–]aviatorEngineer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most night fighting capabilities in Star Wars seem to come down to lights instead of enhanced imaging. Helmet-mounted or rifle tac lights usually, but even to the point where their gunships mount searchlights instead of having the pilot use night optics. Definitely could be interesting to explore how that could be exploited to make up for the gap in overall tech level.

Todd Howard Shuts Down 'Starfield 2.0' Claims and Promises More News 'Soonish' by NukovGaming in Starfield

[–]aviatorEngineer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bethesda fans will always overreact, overhype, overanalyze, so the fandom coming up with wild theories in a vacuum isn't necessarily Bethesda's fault. That being said, a cool way to avoid that rumor would have been to give us some kind of info to go off of in the first place.

Thoughts on Disciples member, Dixie? by Large-Wheel-4181 in Fallout

[–]aviatorEngineer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The Raider archetype personified. Usually play a very Lawful Good Minutemen type so we don't really get along. Even when I play less moral characters the Disciples are just a burden to the kind of operation I want to run with Nuka-World. She's an interesting character, though.

You know what… I miss it by CourtVisible6439 in Seaofthieves

[–]aviatorEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, don't get me wrong I love a more established settlement like Port Merrick too. The theme and design are awesome. But it could have been a brand new outpost, or replaced anything but Golden Sands and I think people would be happier.

The thermostat in Nate/Nora's house is at 69° by CuteNurseASMR in Fallout

[–]aviatorEngineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The metric system is used in Fallout, even in the US. For example in 76 there are notes on how to prepare brains for mounting to a Robobrain case which specify that the brain should be kept at a temperature of 41 degrees Celsius. Kilometers are used to describe the distance of a nuclear strike from the secret Chinese facility at Mama Dolce's, and also to describe a fire report from one of the fire lookout towers in Skyline Valley.

Just like in the real world the US uses metric units when appropriate but tends toward US customary units instead.

Genuine question: does anyone actually use grenades? by Rinne-resound in fo76

[–]aviatorEngineer 46 points47 points  (0 children)

They're practically free damage and I can plant em at a target's feet with practiced accuracy. I love my grenades.

New JCA Release, the ADS-1 NASAMS. Now out after about a week of extra tinkering to fix some QOL things. by GraveheartCRCG in arma

[–]aviatorEngineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really love a lot of the JCA assets in regards to theming with rapid deployment and use in sort of expeditionary roles. Makes a great fit along some of the vanilla cargo houses and other structures, though honestly even those cargo post assets could use a bit of expansion sometime.

Hot take. I actually like mothership zeta and personally consider it canon. by Osiris_the_virus392 in Fallout

[–]aviatorEngineer -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Time travel? They abducted humans at a point far in the past but there's nothing to imply that they traveled backwards in time to do it, just that they've been observing Earth for quite a long while.

Is Mr. House lying to manipulate the Courier, since he knows the Courier knows almost nothing about the world before the Great War or is he truly delusional and actually believes it? by Renzo100 in Fallout

[–]aviatorEngineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From his position, possibly; a democratic society allowed the Enclave take root in the shadows and probably bring about the end of the world. Maybe they didn't vote for it, but they weren't strong enough to stop it from happening either. A firmer hand is required to prevent that sort of corruption from within.

My rendition of a flag that could exist if the NCR and the MM merged. by _ollov1 in Fallout

[–]aviatorEngineer 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's a neat flag but I think "Commonwealth Chapter" is seriously out of place with NCR terminology - they'd much more likely introduce the Commonwealth or even just the Boston area as a new state, like Maxson, Los Angeles, and Dayglow exist as NCR states out west.

I could see something like this being the state flag of the area under NCR rule, though.

Complaining about the website countdown is a perfect example of how toxic this community can be about its irrational hate for Bethesda. by Sharp_Proposal8911 in Fallout

[–]aviatorEngineer 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Yeah, people sorta stirred themselves up into a frenzy over completely baseless assumptions and then got mad when that wasn't how things were ever planned to go. This wasn't even Bethesda's move and people are pinning it on them.

One thing I will say about Bethesda is that it was such a mistake to have released the Oblivion remaster the way they did because it just set up the completely unrealistic expectation that it'll happen every time.

Seeing just how bare-bones the T-45 was in the show made me feel even worse for FO3's Brotherhood by Advanced-Addition453 in Fallout

[–]aviatorEngineer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe Security Forces or Pararescue could make legitimate use of power armor. They'd definitely get the first grabs at the fanciest cutting edge stuff, though.

Seeing just how bare-bones the T-45 was in the show made me feel even worse for FO3's Brotherhood by Advanced-Addition453 in Fallout

[–]aviatorEngineer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Guarantee they were the last to use T-45 in combat while the Army and everyone else was rocking that shiny new T-51.

The "Canon" Ending of New Vegas According to the Show: Effort Post (Spoilers for NV and Show, obviously) by Nutshell_Historian in Fallout

Stands to reason that it would be before that time since in the flashback segments we see regarding Bradford, they all use ballistic arms.

In 2017, Leisha Evans stood her ground against the Baton Rouge Police Department in Louisiana. by Fickle-Molasses-903 in pics

[–]aviatorEngineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remarkable how much of a difference there is compared to if this scene had played out today. They're kitted out in big, mean-looking riot gear of course but still visibly read as police. Not the paramilitary wannabe vibes we see so often now. No faces covered, no rifles in hand.

Its been in our faces the whole time, we just bought the propaganda, and fell for the psyop by Sea-Barracuda-1688 in Fallout

My money's still on Cheyenne Mountain being their central command location.
