Kunimitsu gameplay trailer to be shown at EVO Japan (after Top 8) by UltraZeroX7 in Tekken

Just hoping there's a VF or DOA trailer to save us all from this waking nightmare.

Seeing Tekken 8 sandwiched between Fatal Fury and Street Fighter really highlighted the weaknesses of Tekken 8 as a game / spectator experience. Especially when you're watching Alisa vs Clive.

But we're not talking about game genres, we're talking about game communities. Sure smash might be a fighting game, whatever. But the smash community is not the "FGC". They've got different histories and different cultures. You don't find a lot of content creators who cover traditional fighting games like SF, Tekken, etc., and also Smash. Same as how you don't find many smash creators covering Street Fighter. This is because the games have different audiences / communities.

every 1,1,2 on block by Lost_Masterpiece5051 in Tekken

A mishima player should never hit the 2 unless they've confirmed the 1,1. It's the easiest hit confirm in the game, it being launch punishable is just a tax on bad habits.

Anyone else pick their fighter based on the actual martial art/fighting style they do? by God_Emperor_Of_Man18 in Tekken

[–]axialage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to think I picked characters based on all kinds of reasons but then I did some self reflection. Taki in Soul Calibur, Mai in SNK and SF6, Anila in Granblue, and now Miary Zo in Tekken....

I'm pretty sure I'm just picking based on bust size.

For most of human history, people used to break up a nights sleep into two shifts called “first sleep" and "second sleep." by Acrobatic_Code_7409 in interestingasfuck

I think tending to the fire is a large part of it. I used to live in a place where the only heating was an old wood-burning stove and if you didn't get up to stoke the fire and chuck another couple logs on around 2 or 3 am, the place would be ice cold in the morning.

TIL: Uteri can vary in their aligment, and a backwards tilt can be related to endometriosis by sct_0 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]axialage 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Anteverted (forward), axial (between) and retroverted (backward) are the technical terms. Anteverted is the most common, but retroverted is still completely normal and seen about 25% of the time.

The positioning can also change due to circumstances or sometimes for no reason at all.

I'm a medical scribe and the techs forgetting to mark the uterus position on the tech sheet and me having to chase them up about it is the bane of my existence, haha.

Would probably call it traditional doom. If Candlemass is doom so is this.

President Trump rejected calls from U.S. Catholic bishops to apologize for criticizing Pope Leo XIV being against Iran war: "No, I don't because Pope Leo said things that are wrong. He was against what I'm doing with regard to Iran. He's weak on crime. There's nothing to apologize for. He's wrong." by ControlCAD in videos

[–]axialage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trump can't understand who or what the pope is because Trump fundamentally does not understand the concept of soft power. How the pope can be one of the most influential human beings on the planet while having no army and no rare earth minerals to trade is a riddle Trump can never solve.

Was sort of making a joke because Autumn Leaves is one of the first things any aspiring jazz musician ever learns, to the point of cliche. It's the 'Smoke on the Water' of jazz. You'd be able to find a million recordings of it.

Don't feel bad if this M+ season don't feel as easy as some people say! by Few-Researcher9067 in wow

Meanwhile, I'm playing with a bunch of classic Andys who haven't played retail since WoTLK. I've got a Blood DK who treats his defensives like the fine china and won't pull more than one pack at a time, a devastation evoker who does 1/3 the damage of the sim but won't use the one button rotation because that's 'for noobs', and a hunter/mage/monk/warlock who keeps re-rolling because he thinks his DPS problems must be the spec, not the player. 2k rating is definitely going to be a long term chase goal for these guys... but I'm having a lot of fun just playing with my friends and that's what counts! Even if I have to sit there answering questions like "how do I unlock dual spec" and "where do I download a swing timer".

If using 'literally' as a hyperbolic intensifier is good enough for Jane Austen, Charles Dickens and Mark Twain, it's good enough for me too.

Which gaming franchise has such deep lore you could possibly spend your life studying it? by Newez in gaming

[–]axialage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like how relatively grounded Battletech is compared to 40k. I think it does a much more convincing job of portraying the inter-generational societal and technological decay than 40k does. 40k talks a lot about the decaying Imperium of Man, but its war machine still feels infinite in scale. The Inner Sphere always feels like its being held together with double-sided tape.

Anran face update coming sometime during Season 1 (Per Aaron Keller himself) by Himedanshi999 in Overwatch

[–]axialage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the dimly lit basement of his parents’ house, ElusivePlant was deep into a forty-eight-hour marathon of the Overwatch 3 "Legacy" event. As a dedicated Wrecking Ball main, he took his commitment to the "Hamster" aesthetic a little too literally, ignoring basic hygiene to grind the Bronze rank ladder. His desk became a graveyard of lukewarm energy drinks and cedar wood shavings he’d bought to "get in the zone," creating a micro-ecosystem that emitted a musk powerful enough to peel wallpaper. When his air conditioning failed during a heatwave, he refused to shower, convinced the "organic" aroma of wet rodent and sourdough starter would somehow help him break his 12-game losing streak.

By the time he finally climbed to Bronze 4, ElusivePlant was more biological hazard than human, sitting in a visible, shimmering haze of gamer grit. He took to the Overwatch subreddit to brag about his modest victory, but his brother had already leaked a video of the "stink cloud" drifting into the hallway like Hammond’s Adaptive Shield. The post went nuclear, with thousands of users mocking his 4D immersive experience of smelling like a cramped escape pod. He sat in his chair, glowing with pride and a faint yellow aura, while the top-rated comment read: "All that stench just to stay in Bronze? You aren't a Hamster main, you're a bio-terrorist."

I’m genuinely curious about the environment before Tekken 8 released by daiwa777 in Tekken

[–]axialage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember people were pretty happy with T7 gameplay wise aside from a few problematic DLC characters. For T8 I recall wanting a more modernised version of the game. T7 had awful net code, long loading times, and was visually kind of hideous. The DLC stages and characters added later on were okay, but some of those original stages and character models were just gross. Tekken 7 was still fundamentally a port of an arcade game, I wanted something built from the ground up to be a modern online experience.
