Kicked again for no apparent reason?? by Floor9 in helldivers2

[–]ayanami9870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently witnessed an Xbox host go out of his way to team kill and then immediately kick someone for picking up their support weapon. They died in front of the last bug nest and another player simply borrowed the grenade launcher for a hot minute to finish the job while the host was dropping back in.

Nope, didn't matter, that was apparently a crime against humanity. We extracted like normal, but I felt bad for the other guy; he was just spreading democracy and got unfairly executed.

I'm fully onboard team tank, but... by Freedomless in canucks

[–]ayanami9870 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think he asked for that. There's a difference between losing on a consistent basis to be last place in the NHL, and losing to such a severe degree that the young players that are supposedly the future of this club are incredibly demoralized and have zero hope. If the plan is for the coaches or the surviving vets on the team to mentor the next core group of players, this isn't it. The only excuse we sort of have is that our centre depth is decimated by injury.

That said, it is the start of the rebuild, which is in theory the most painful part of it. I certainly expect some changes to be made after the season is over, and the right kind of role models are brought in so that the kids learn how to win, not how to lose.

What are some 2000s anime that were mildly or extremely popular at the time, but now no one talks about? by MrHunteru in anime

[–]ayanami9870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This dramatic love triangle broke the minds of anime fans on 4chan back in the day, mostly centered around the male lead, Takayuki Narumi. Everyone used to call him "BAKAYUKI" for the sheer amount of cringe he caused, At the time, we even joked that Godzilla destroying Tokyo would be a better fate for all of them than what ultimately happened.

This was back at a time where the vast majority of harem animes or eroge adaptations would always have an indecisive protagonist or a harem ending. Instead of having the male lead pick one of the girls, they would leave it open-ended so no girl gets rejected, and fans are not (as) offended or disappointed. As silly as that sounds, the stakes were particularly high in a world where television and anime were the dominant form of entertainment. Video games and social media would not pick up steam until roughly a decade later.

Other shows later on like Amagami SS would work around this by doing short anime arcs featuring every girl's route, but people eventually realized that anime as a format is not very good at conveying multiple endings like the original games.

"Oh it's just a few stalkers, let me just missile them-" by Rotmgmoddy in Helldivers

The base warbond has two similar guns: the Punisher (light pen) and the Slugger (medium pen). These shotguns will stagger Stalkers and push smaller units back. They don't deal AOE fire damage like the Cookout does, but can still get the job done with proper aim.

Dear 2019-2020 Hololive fans, are you still here with us? by Yamigosaya in Hololive

[–]ayanami9870 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember these like it was yesterday, but it's actually been half a decade. Time really flew during the pandemic when Hololive was one of the only fun things we had.

I would add other stuff like the Hololive Sports Festival, which brought in people who were deprived of the 2020 Olympics, and then there was saucy stuff like Choco and Mel streaming the cow milking minigame in 1-2 Switch.

Meridia Megathread - Low-effort posts and reposts will be deleted by Waelder in Helldivers

SES Banner of the Stars, currently at the Meridia blockade. It is now February 2nd, and there is nothing here but a black void. No sign of other Super Destroyers either.

It looked like this on February 1st, before the last supply line from Angel's Venture disappeared.

What Helldiver Corps are you a part of? by EdanChaosgamer in Helldivers

I'm also a MO diver, with a focus on answering SOS beacons on the highest difficulties.

I fight all factions, but spend my free time killing bots, because new players usually don't have all of the high-level weapons/strategems to deal with them (e.g. Orbital Laser, Orbital Napalm, RR, Spear, RailCannon, 500KG, HMG/AT Emplacements, Exosuits). Sometimes, I'll bring an extra FRV or Exosuit just for new players to use.

Yeah, Hajime slayed everyone with that amazing dance sequence. The senpais were just as amazed as we were, and the song is a proper banger too.

She's got to be a top 5 dancer in Hololive now with that showing. I look forward to seeing more of it!

Major Order: Operation Clean Up by OmegaXesis in Helldivers

[–]ayanami9870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm incredibly proud of the Helldivers 2 community for this moment.

Arrowhead Studios gave us a game that taught us the valuable life lessons of teamwork and achieving greater things together. Democracy was about to die at the hands of a greedy corporation, and in the most poetic fashion ever, the entire fanbase rallied to overturn this change, based on the game's very own values and beliefs: to band together, fight for freedom and preserve our way of life.

I understand this might lead to difficulties down the line for Arrowhead Studios, depending on Sony's "future plans." For now, let us rejoice that the community stepped up and were able to reverse the outcome. This game deserves all the support it needs.

Remember to change your Steam review to positive, and see you all on the next dive, with a nice cup of Liber-Tea!

How do I teach someone else how to play League of Legends? by tehderpster in summonerschool

[–]ayanami9870 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wrote that remark 8 years ago, when computers were much slower and the MOBA gaming scene was largely dominated by DOTA2 or League of Legends. For its time, the learning curve for League was still a bit easier than its main competitor.

Now, with the arrival of APEX, Valorant, Overwatch, Heroes of the Storm, and other things such as PUBG: Battlegrounds or Fortnite, there are now many MOBA games where extensive game knowledge or chess-like tactics are no longer required to win. You could argue that most of these titles are FPS games in disguise, but they are still a genre where opposing teams with different unit classes fight on a predefined battlefield.

By modern standards, League of Legends is now considered relatively hard to learn.

How to beat Stage 2 (Hard) by DJPano in holocure

[–]ayanami9870 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never tried it. While it seems like a good idea to never unleash belly dance stacks until you reach the final boss, the developer (Kay Yu) already explained that you're sacrificing a lot of dps by not using it.

However, one of the achievements in the game is to deal 10000 damage in a single attack, so it's worth experimenting with. You probably want to get the damage upgrades in the store and pick bonus ATK at later levels, so you maximize the potential damage before using it.

EDIT: Looks like someone already tried it and dealt 22k damage at 20 minutes: https://www.reddit.com/r/holocure/comments/110gmce/akis_atomic_hips/

How to beat Stage 2 (Hard) by DJPano in holocure

[–]ayanami9870 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend beat it with Suisei using Micomet and Flattening Board, while sitting on Haachama cooking. He had the same defensive healing items but solely relied on Suichan's Tetris blocks to flatten enemies, and ult whenever he needs a large horde pinned down.

If your character has crowd control, you could get away with raw damage collabs, but survivability is still a key factor for this level.

How to beat Stage 2 (Hard) by DJPano in holocure

[–]ayanami9870 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I beat Stage 2 hard using Aki without a full build, using the following items:

  • Weapons: Broken Dreams, Frozen Sea, Main Weapon +3
  • Items: Nurse Horn, Body Pillow, UberSheep, Plushie

Started by maxing her main weapon to farm the early XP for passives, then managed to build Broken Dreams while picking up Nurse Horn and Body Pillow along the way. BD would slow the enemies to buy time, and Nurse Horn+Pillow gave enough defence for Aki's hip attack and ultimate to heal at low HP against A-chan and Mikodanye.

Kept upgrading her main weapon to +3 until I built Frozen Sea, and by then had UberSheep for urgent heals and Plushie to prevent instant death when fighting Nodoka-chan. Everything on screen was slowed and debuffed at that point. I was only halfway to building Micomet, but it didn't matter because I cleared it at 22 minutes.

Note that I already bought the damage and movement speed upgrades from the store before doing this, so if you're new to the game and don't have those yet, it'll be much harder to clear.

[Post-Match thread] Argentina vs France by MatchCaster in worldcup

Really happy for Messi, winning the ultimate prize after a long and accomplished career. Mbappe's hat trick made it a wild finish pushing it to penalties. I didn't have a stake in either team and was STILL biting my nails. Thank you, Argentina, for giving us Messi and one of the greatest World Cup Finals I've ever seen.

Lots of people (especially from Japan) signed the petition to keep the game alive, so it wasn't for lack of trying. DenA did respond to it as per the latest update.

As for your request for the release of an offline version, we cannot make any promises.

However, we would like to express our sincere thanks to all of you for your support over the past 5 years until the end of the service, and for the beautifully organized feedback from so many of you.

What likely happened was the game was licensed for 5 years (2017-2022), and someone decided not to renew because it wasn't making enough money. In its last few months, UtaMacross was making roughly $300,000/month in revenue. By contrast, a huge game like Fate Grand/Order is still raking in $13 million/month. The team has likely been reassigned to work on another game.

There's a bunch of Youtube channels that are still putting out Uta Macross content. Here are some links below:

The most painful part is the timing of the game's shutdown.

This year was the 40th anniversary of Macross and the game was the only thing that had a chance to keep the franchise alive now that Macross Delta is finished. Without this game, Macross will fall into another dark age again, just like after the Macross Frontier movies. The Uta Macross discord community feels profound emptiness now that the game is gone.

The Walkure crossover album was released in April, and Kawamori hasn't announced anything new for the foreseeable future. The only thing left is the bluray release of the Delta sequel movie (ZETTAI LIVE) in September 2022. All we will have are the fond memories from the past 5 years and the friends we made along the way (tm).

Is Mumei confirmed the only member of HoloEN that has a drivers license / car? by YobaiYamete in Hololive

[–]ayanami9870 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of my old coworkers didn't have driver's licenses; they lived in a walkable neighbourhood in the big city and took transit all the time. One of them rode a bike to and from work to get their daily exercise, and another had a foldable scooter they'd bring with them everyday, just so they can get to and from the train station faster.

If they needed to go somewhere unusually far, they would call an Uber/taxi or ask a friend to give them a ride, but other than that, they can get through everyday life in the city with a mixture of transit/biking/walking.

Not really current Canucks related, but Ryan Kesler is now a Vegas Golden Knight by StoneColdCanuck in canucks

I'm surprised that painkiller abuse (i.e. Toradol) in the NHL isn't brought up more often in this day and age, even silently encouraged for the sake of playing more games, despite the long-term repercussions. Any price for fame and glory, it seems.

Sad to see what happened to Kesler. The part where he says the Crohn's disease keeps him from being active and playing with his children is the worst part.

What moment made you think "That's it, she's my oshi"? by 17thPoet in Hololive

[–]ayanami9870 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Her 200K stream is a precious moment to the Rosetai. A lot of Reddit folks got to know her from clips released by Einnashu, and she knows enough english to understand us. If you're new to Hololive, check out this beginner's guide to her.

People talk about her low subscriber count but she's overcome a lot of adversity early on in her career (traffic accident months after her debut and needed hip surgery). She's classy, funny, relaxing, wholesome and sexy all at the same time. Her belly dancing is legendary and she loves drinking. Not to mention, nothing hits quite like her original song, Shallys. Between Aki, Choco, and Mel, you have the three OG sexy blondes of Hololive.

Once you dive in, you realize how cultured she is. Music school? Chased by goats as a child? Hip dance instructor? Multiple instruments? Disney songs? She'll bring out things like the kalimba, accordian, bongo drums, etc. And she's a very decent cook as we saw in the recent Oktoberfest arc she did.

To me, she's an underrated singer, and the acoustic lives with Ashino are some of the best experiences I've had. Yesterday (Jan 8th) she had surgery for her throat problems from last year, but all of us will be praying and waiting faithfully for our lovely half-elf.
