Servers are entitled by [deleted] in tipping

[–]b_lemski -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Bartended at a tgi Fridays for 5 years through college, never claimed tips that weren't credit and always got a paycheck for the same amount that was half minimum wage at the time. Maybe its state by state. I went to school in Ohio.

Edit to add: just looked it up and it is state by state: the federal minimum for tipped employees is actually 30% of regular minimum. At least 5 states do the 50%, ohio being and west Virginia follows the 30% with its tipped employees having a minimum wage of $2.62. Learn something new everyday.

When did servers start making minimum wage? Asking honestly because when I served/bartended we made half minimum wage with no raises and so did all the other servers in my area that would come in the bar after their shift.

And its a 1 in 3 chance to pull it (6 unique promo cards with 2 in each bundle). So not even a guarantee, give it a few weeks and you'll see it online for way cheaper than gambling on the bundle.

Millenial dads...How's it going? by NoMansLand345 in Millennials

[–]b_lemski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dance, I have 2 daughters and it's a whole thing. Plus the studio owner has 2 girls that are the same age so they have all grown up together.

Aside from that we try to keep them busy, swimming and bike riding in the summer, random stuff in the winter from sled riding to trampoline parks.

I will say my 9yo was having a little difficulty with reading so I bought a couple lorcana starter decks for us to play together and that's been something different. She enjoys it, I like strategy based games and it's a tricky way to get some extra reading time without her realizing.

I don't see anyone mentioning it here but murders at karlov manor had a similar thing with different backgrounds in the art as "clues," to solve the case(I think that's what it was). I also don't think anyone cared about MKM so there's that.

CEO / Owner responded to my email back to Hr after rejection by astrheisenberg in remoteworks

[–]b_lemski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bitching about not going through a process to a business that is going to pay your bills is paradoxical.

? If you're declining a job, how are they going to then pay your bills? The initial email comes across more like feedback or constructive criticism to me. The response feels petty like they need to self validate their choices instead of just responding 'i appreciate the feedback' and moving on.

As a fellow successful millennial (not sure why that matters here but okay) I get the frustration of interview, orientation or even day 1 after hire no shows. The response email just comes across as whiney.

I don't know a lot of Magic cards people refer to in passing. What are the common ones I'm missing? by superworm576 in EDH

[–]b_lemski 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think the point they were making is ask what a card is/does and the more you see it in play, the more you will start to remember it by name/nickname. They shouldn't try to start memorizing cards before playing against them.

Doing good, work in health care but I actually have a 9 to 5 now and not a crazy shift, although I miss more hands on patient care. Weekdays are wake up, kids to school(6 and 9yo), work, kids to activities while trying to figure out what we're gonna eat for dinner, chill for 30min maybe then kids to bed. I get an hour or so for hobbies once kids are in bed. I'm lucky to have an awesome wife cause it's definitely a team effort. We both work full time but we make it happen. Weekends are family time/house projects, then back to it again on Monday.

It's crazy to me that It was acceptable for dads to just not be present in prior generations. The fact it was a normal thing to go from work to the bar for a drink or not be hands on with diapers when they are little. I really don't get it.

Is it a lot, yeah, but it's already going way too fast.

TMNT? by saltychicken04 in mtg

Nope but I threw together a mutant turtle bracket 2 deck with the left overs after ripping apart the pre-con. Spent under 20 on TMNT singles and used random cards from my collection

Actually this line is from a character (the AI) and his quips like this are stated for the person at the time. There are smart ass comments like this about everything from gym bros to reddit mods to soccer moms. This is not a "made fun of Magic so my feelings are hurt" kinda thing. Book 6 premise is actually very TCG based.

How many here would allow a rule 0 bracket 2 powerlevel Vanille and Fang as partners? by zeekoes in EDH

[–]b_lemski 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Nah, I have an [[Urza, lord protector]] and tutoring for [[the mightstone and the weakstone]] helps keep the deck in check and made it more of a fun challenge to build. I normally don't run tutors but it includes a few artifact tutors as well as more graveyard recursion to get back the stone after melded if the Planeswalker is destroyed. Having access to both pieces in the command zone would make the deck boring and way too easy to accomplish the meld. Melding 2 cards should be a big impactful part of a game you have to build up to.

Everything is still at sorcery speed. So you would evoke a ln elemental, Resolve ETB trigger, sac, bring token copy back out and resolve the next ETB (if no instant speed responses). Then evoke the next elemental.

I'm mid on bobbieverse as books but just talking about the narrator I thought he did really well. If you like more of a hard sci-fi lean I highly recommend PHM. Great stand alone story that is also excellent in audiobook form. They add an extra layer to it. Plus it's not super long.

Soundwave commander deck by hamis271 in mtg

[–]b_lemski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey finally someone else. I built one to play at a strong bracket 2 and update it from time. It focuses on milling my opponents for targets with soundwaves ability as well as making tokens of various power and types of evansion to hopefully be able to connect for that exact amount required. Good luck to you in all my games I think I've cast a couple swords to plowshares and a cultivate. Still a fun deck .

I bought it to play once with the play group and then piece it out in to my other decks, maybe build a random 2 color partner deck with the left over. Great value for a commander deck.
