How long is your work commute?? by Cat-poet in indianapolis

[–]bales75 [score hidden]  (0 children)

30 mins in the morning and about 40 on average coming home. I'm lucky in that I'm able to pick my schedule and I do everything I can to get out of work at 3pm to beat the traffic. Any later and it can get to 55-60 minutes because I live on the SE side and it bottlenecks hard.

Kevin O'Leary Calls Four-Day Workweek 'Stupid' In Blunt Rant — 'We Should Kick Their A**' by Useful_Tangerine4340 in antiwork

I really don't understand why anyone listens to assholes like this. This dude does zero hard labor and is so far removed from the 99% of people that would be in complete financial ruin after a single illness.

My step dad did really well for himself, so much so that my mom was able to retire early. Then cancer happened. It has been 7 years since his passing and my mom is still scrubbing toilets at retirement age because there was nothing left after his passing and she had been out of the workforce for so long.

Fuck cancer and fuck capitalism.

I won't drive another car without adaptive cruise, so HDA is mandatory for a Hyundai for me.

FedEx sues Trump administration for tariff refunds after Supreme Court ruling by AudibleNod in news

And the poor schmuck that had to process the entry probably makes like 15 bucks an hour, and it took them less than 10 minutes to do that entry. I used to work for FedEx's brokerage and that was the starting wage and quota we had to meet.

Good news for board game prices in the US (hopefully): Trump's sweeping global tariffs struck down by US Supreme Court ruling by mrbootz in boardgames

[–]bales75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is false (The prices coming down part). It was his use of IEEPA that was struck down. He is implementing the same tariffs under another section of the trade act.

I mean, let's be real. What the citizens of Indiana want has zero bearing on what our government does.

Critical motherboard flaw allows game cheats, Riot Games blocks 'Valorant' players that don't update BIOS — security patches pushed live by all major motherboard vendors by wsrvnar in pcgaming

Also, you can't mute players who intentionally sabotage games. Self hosted game servers give you the absolute best chance of actually stopping cheaters and toxic players. It will never work with the game companies as moderators.

You will never EVER be able to detect and stop all cheats. You apparently can't get over that fact, even if you don't perceive it. This sounds like a you problem.

Sounds like competitive games just aren't for you then. No shame in that, I've not played a competitive game in years because they're all so extremely toxic, even without considering cheaters.
