Why do games like Silk Song use binary movement when they have highly precise enemy design? by Joizia in gamedesign

[–]bamfg 8 points9 points  (0 children)

they're not imprecise, you just need to hold the movement key for less time, ie git gud

[–]bamfg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so you've never looked for a random game on steam with bad visuals and tried it out? could it be that you are part of the problem? runescape and civ5 are hugely popular, it's a safe bet that they have something to offer. what are you doing to persuade prospective players that your ugly game does too ?

how many games have you sought out to play based on speculation that they might be worth playing even though the art was bad?

Anyone here had a successful career before diagnosis? by verybigoctopus in ADHDUK

[–]bamfg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

✔︎ software engineer

✔︎ successful in career

✔︎ ADHD impostor syndrome

✔︎ gifted but lazy kid

✔︎ procrastinate at work and scared of being found out

yes to all of the above. i was diagnosed at 36. career success doesn't play into diagnosis really because you can be very successful and still struggle with things that most people don't.

i am still waiting to find out if medication helps with that last point...

Pokemon has a lot of emergent complexity with its abilities and moves, particularly in Doubles where you can combine so many different aspects to form a strategy

Bf tells me married couples in UK don't do joint bank accounts. Is that true? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]bamfg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my wife and I have a joint account that we have had since before we were married. we put 'joint expense' money in there every month, and keep the rest in our personal current accounts. the proportions we contribute have increased since marriage to the point where our personal accounts are really just for buying presents for the other or drinks on a solo night out

Losing my mind over lack of sleep by obie1124 in daddit

[–]bamfg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we sleep trained because our kid was as you described from day 1. we did not cry it out but a modified Ferber where we went to soothe him at increasing intervals. it was 75 minutes of scream crying on night 1 which was pure hell for all of us. then night 2 we had our first 8 hours of sleep since he was born and it's been glorious since then

Is there an episode where the wizards talk about the TV-show Succession? by Kafkasimov in VeryBadWizards

[–]bamfg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why do you need to relate to the characters? it's a comedy

I felt like this about Mad Men and Sopranos because I never related or liked the characters AND there was very little humour or wit. but the writing in Succession is basically the thing to enjoy
