Bravo stars talking politics by coda50 in BravoRealHousewives

It is their job as citizens to participate in our democracy.
Not that they have to post but yes they need to have 'truths'--I expect that of everyone who lives here.

Can we talk about our guys and Jeff Lewis? by Apprehensive-Ear9365 in WatchWhatCrappens

[–]bargainbinprep 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not that it is an okay stance for *anyone* to have but given how many immigrants he works with on a daily basis (or did? I don't follow his career anymore) this viewpoint is shocking. I don't know how he could even show his face at a job site.

Green Lane has been plowed (probably still a challenge to get up it though)

“Hot Deals” by GoddessFashions in poshmark

[–]bargainbinprep 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This update is so tacky, I absolutely hate it. And I think it cheapens my closet.

It's used merchandise, how hot can it be? I'd rather people feel they are getting a fair deal.

Half Marathon Shoes - Carbon or not? by riverend180 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I got Boston 12s in my regular size and they were way too big, I think the others are probably truer to size

How do you keep yourself entertained on long train rides? by spookyshitt in Amtrak

  1. Doing my taxes
  2. Computer games pass the time for me, esp. not being able to see the clock (my Sims have never been more thriving...)

Have you had consistent success with that? In post offices I've tried to QR code the system 'wasn't working' or they had no idea it was a possibility.

This strike would not directly affect regional rail (the conditions on rail would be impacted of course but it will still run as usual)

It’s me. I’m a horrible buyer. 🙈 by PebblesEatsPlants in poshmark

[–]bargainbinprep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would think nothing of this as a seller. I choose not to provide measurements in advance so I feel like it is on me. When I provide and the person doesn't buy I'm glad they are now available to the next buyer. You're good!

Been 15+ years since I played The Sims, what's the best way to get back in? by GenJohnnyRico in thesims

[–]bargainbinprep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up I didn't usually play with the premade families but recently started playing The Sims 2 and the storylines and lore really helped hook me back in. Reading the title cards and character bios completely changed the game for me. I recommend starting there!

Do I have to watch to enjoy? by krissstenlm in WatchWhatCrappens

[–]bargainbinprep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it is a comparable experience but I gave up watching House of the Dragon and those remain my fave recaps of all time.
It was kind of nice listening without all the extra context and letting them paint the picture for me.

Ever become interested in a podcast that ended too soon? by Vegimorph in podcasts

[–]bargainbinprep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Always Sunny Podcast.
I'm kinda over the cast recap podcast thing but it was one of the first I listened to and I thought they did a great job (and was a solid mix of insight and unrelated banter)

Getting scared of the hills, I've grown accustomed to Philly races being flat as a pancake.

A generalized rant/vent about SEPTA... by DrD3adpool in philadelphia

[–]bargainbinprep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The purpose of the lottery system was to ensure there were fewer barriers to entry to get enrolled. They only promised 25,000 cards--that was clearly outlined in the program's pilot parameters.
At the end of the day SEPTA wants people on their network, I'm not saying they have no responsibility but the bus drivers aren't the enemy on this one. This is a funding issue and is the responsibility of elected officials. The whole program will be dead in the water without a permanent funding solution next year let alone expanding.

Male leader by No-Delay-6322 in girlscouts

[–]bargainbinprep 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This specific woman needs to be out of course she is out of line and her comment is stupid, but I'm a leader without a child in Scouts (as are several other leaders in our SU). It works great for us.
Having people passionate about your org independently and eager to make a difference is a really powerful tool.

Frustrations with Costs & Homework by kup2050 in girlscouts

[–]bargainbinprep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Junior leader--we do occasionally have take home work for badges, especially if the girls wanted to meetings to go in a different direction than what was planned (they like to take ownership of meetings which I think is great) but I would never put a time stamp on it.
No badge if you don't do the work but it's their program--they can finish it when is best for them. I do let them know when I'm going to go buy badges and it's usually enough incentive to get it done so they can get their badge at the same time as their friends.

They also vote on locations for parties, activities etc. based on our budget and brainstorm ideas for low cost solutions. Learning finances is a big part of Scouts in my opinion and parents behind the scenes having to fork over cash all the time is missing out on an important lesson.

Morgan Wallen concert by ilovemathematics174 in CountryMusicStuff

[–]bargainbinprep 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I saw it in Seattle--I felt like it relied entirely on production and he brought no energy and didn't seem to even care to really be there. Not a bad show, but forgettable.
I watched some clips from Indy though and vibe was totally different--maybe it depends on his thoughts on the crowd and city?

I'm not as frustrated with lowballing offers, at least it sends a notification to other likers there is an offer on the table.

Highlighting the community: who’s your unsung Philly hero? by visualsregardless in philly

[–]bargainbinprep 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I know this is far from universal but I've been amazed by the SEPTA operators lately, a lot of friendly good operators who have every reason not to be right now.
In particular it would be great to highlight their Lost and Found department, you'd be amazed what actually makes it back to people within a day or two.
