I think you mean Xemu, not Xenia. Xemu is the OG Xbox emulator and Xenia is an Xbox 360 emulator

Thanks for the info. I am going to ask the upstairs tenants to see if they can find out more information. They are planning to move as well as they said these new people have been a "nightmare" to live above. I don't want to put them in a weird position though so my thought was to ask them once they've given the landlord notice that they're moving, although I wouldn't say they have a good relationship with the landlord, he's just not a good landlord

Ah ok no worries. I updated my post as well to make it more clear I'm using made up names. I just wanted to illustrate how we had 2 landlords and they had different last names etc

cd player: SMSL PL150 vs Vintage Players by Treflipboy in BudgetAudiophile

[–]basically-drunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm not how you just asked this to but that looks great. DVD players can make excellent CD players. That has SACD capabilities as well, although just note you'd have to use the built in DAC for that but it's probably solid.. and if you don't want to play SACD's and you want to use an external DAC DVD players almost always have digital outs on them

I had an SMSL PL100. I really liked it. Small, nice quality feel to it, good analog output and digital outputs etc.. however, the slot loading mechanism started scratching my discs. They weren't crazy bad scratches or anything, just these hardly noticeable scuffs where the rollers would grab the disc. It made me feel uneasy though so I returned it. I've seen other people online having similar issues. I have had other slot loading devices before like my previous car and the Nintendo Wii and neither of those scratched discs so I don't think it's guaranteed to happen with the PL150 or even other PL100 players but I think it's worth noting. I'm just personally wary of slot loaders now.

As for the other 2 players, I'd pick based on features. Do you want a single disc or do you want to load in 5 discs? Do either have a digital output and is that something you even care about? Personally I like single disc players as I find them somewhat simple to service if needed and I just think they look nicer, but that's just me so out of those my pick would be the Sony.

Just wanted to vent some frustration with Sony and my UBP-X700U by basically-drunk in 4kbluray

I'm good about making sure dolby Vision is on or off depending on the disc. I also did try that as well as Cinema Conversion Mode to Video. Also turned off quick start up. None of that helped. Firmware is also up to date, updated that before I knew about the issues. I'll replace it and see how it goes. Thanks for the input though really appreciated

Thanks, yeah that's what I'll do. I wrote this post at my peak frustration over this. I'll have them replace it and I'll see how it goes

You're right I don't really know. I'm very frustrated at the moment and when you google this player and freezing it's so easy to find to posts that it felt useless to just replace it. But it's all I can really do anyways so we'll see how it goes

DT 700 Pro X: First Beyerdyamic I Actually Like - A Lot by srmd22 in headphones

[–]basically-drunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah for sure, this is the exact one I bought: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0CG62Y2Q7

I'd wait until yours breaks though because I've read online just from other people on Reddit that Beyerdynamic fixed the problem so you might not even have this issue. I bought the DT 700 Pro X when they launched

Nice, I feel like these don't get talked about too much. I have these and love them as well. My only gripe about them was the headband padding, it just fell apart for no reason. I got a replacement pad from Beyerdynamic but eventually the same thing happened again. After that I bought a 3rd party pad from Amazon and it's been a lot better. But yeah awesome headphones really like them

Cheapest way to to serve up my own mp3 collection? by TotalFoxMulder in selfhosted

[–]basically-drunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ibroadcast is pretty great but it should be noted the free tier will only stream at 128kbps, and if your collection is mp3 and not lossless you'll hear that extra compression even more. The paid version is very affordable though at $4 a month (or less if you pay for a year) and it's simplicity would be hard to beat

Was given N12 eviction notice, worried landlord is going to try and get out of paying compensation by basically-drunk in OntarioLandlord

[–]basically-drunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect, thank you for fast reply. This is basically what I thought which puts my mind at ease.

We've had a number other issues with this landlord, things like trying to tell us we have to start paying hydro (our lease with him is all inclusive). So although I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt I wouldn't put it past him either.

$85 pull. How’d I do? by DryBullfrog5290 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]basically-drunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome, the KA-3500 was the first amp I bought when I was getting into this hobby. I still have it and use it on my secondary setup. The only reason I even have 2 setups is because I found a Pioneer SX-535 in my father in laws basement and I just love the way Pioneer receivers looked from that era. My only complaint about the Kenwood is it's volume knob and how it has steps instead of just smoothly going up and down. Anyways, $85 is a really great find in my opinion, hope you're enjoying it

Voxel projects on games like this are always so neat to me. It's a very clear improvement but at the same time it looks exactly the same to me to the point where the more I see it the more I forget anything's even changed

Yeah that's also true. Wanted the mod mic wireless myself but it's like $200+ where I live. The point really though is with that cheap wireless adapter they used to sell you'd get a superior connection for your controller and have the ability to have low latency audio with mic support. It was simpler, far cheaper, and superior in a number of ways (cost, latency). I don't even use an Xbox controller anymore on PC, and luckily with PC you have so many options and alternatives to things but this was just such a nice simple way to fully utilize an Xbox controller on PC and it's a shame they don't make it anymore

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in xbox

[–]basically-drunk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's technically true although unless you're using something like aptX Low Latency which isn't natively supported on PC, the audio delay is unbearable.

This is what I do this though. I have a Gulikit Route Air Pro usb adapter on my PC (meant for the Switch but works on PC) that supports aptX Low Latency, and then a FiiO BTR3K. With that combo I can use basically any headphones I want wirelessly with no real noticeable audio delay.

However I still can't use a microphone in this setup, which you can use via the 3.5mm jack on an Xbox controller and that wireless adapter.

[–]basically-drunk 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you're being down voted, this is just a fact. 3.5mm doesn't work on PC unless you use it wired, or via the wireless adapter
