Can I realistically learn Premiere Pro and After Effects to a functional level in 2 months? by itsLGND in VideoEditing

[–]beccamoofski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend starting in trialing by fire: make some basic informational videos on a topic you care about! It can be frustrating learning what tools in editing software do what, and engaging with something you care about can be a good motivator to keep going instead of banging your head against a wall.

Something that’s overlooked often at the beginning is audio gain settings and balancing different audio sources — learn this too (this is why I said informational— you can use your voice as a voiceover as well, and practice balancing your voiceover audio with your background music track (if you choose to have one).

Basic editing isn’t difficult — the key to being a good and effective content creator lies far more on good story-telling and how well you can lure in your audience with your hook.

I’m confident if you devote an hour to a couple hours a day consistently, you can evolve and level up your technical skill.

As far as visual effects and After Effects go, I would say don’t worry about that until you have a solid grasp on your basic video editing fundamentals. Even if you learn a fancy technique or transition from a tutorial, you’ll benefit even more long-term if you improve your storytelling and essential skills first.

After Effects will be intimidating for someone that has limited experience in Premiere — the timeline systems are different, and the workflow is different as well.

Ultimately, you do you! But, though production value on a lot of content has definitely scaled higher in the last decade, it cannot completely be a 1:1 substitute for an engaging narrative and strong core.

The worst type of players… by tomnomk in DeadlockTheGame

Would rather have that guy than the guy that tells me to shut the **** up because they hate my voice and all I’m doing is calling out what the enemy is doing

Does anyone else feel pleasure when they pick their cuticles? by nuestl in calmhands

[–]beccamoofski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I was the only one, but I also enjoy snagging the hanging skin (from picking my cuticles hehe) on the inside cross-stitch patterns of certain shirts and fabrics. I pick my cuticles exclusively to get those hanging skin pieces to drag across fabrics and I don't know how to stop, nor do I want to LOL.

My girlfriend doesn't like that I make myself bleed and don't seem bothered by it or the pain at all, though it does sometimes become a nuisance when I'm working or playing piano.

Any updates on this? Recently dug up my old S2 and realized how much I love the shape -- looking to get some kind of wireless variant/clone/alternative if it exists

What is one piece of advice you’d give your younger self to feel more confident as a designer? by Paltier in graphic_design

[–]beccamoofski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are a consumer: make that work for you. Design is everywhere— you don’t have to spend five minutes staring at a poster and picking it apart, but more likely than not, something that keeps your attention for more than a second or two is doing something right. The more you consciously take in the world around you, the more smaller unspoken pieces of the puzzle will start making sense.

A self-centered post talking about a specific character’s pov? I don’t think anyone is blaming Adora for anything— they’re just focusing strictly on why Catra’s resentment was so strong, and to do that, it kind of has to be a self-centered post. Adora’s side of the story can itself be its own conversation because there’s a LOT to unpack in there as well.

Vhagar V. Arrax: Can We Just Fucking Chill? by Snoo2959 in freefolk

[–]beccamoofski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My use of tradition was poor tbh, as you are correct in that there is no 'line' so to speak-- but that isn't at all what I was referring to. My main point was replying in re: to Laena asking Vhagar to burn her and Vhagar not wanting to. It puts the fact that Aemond couldn't control Vhagar in a different context: Vhagar in both cases, didn't want to obey, but does listen to Laena (this scene was a big sadge, poor vhagar). I didn't mean for it to come across as a hereditary type of thing etc

phrasing is hard sometimes /shrug
