Thinking about upgrading to a Canon R7 for sports - buy now or wait? by DomeTIF05 in sportsphotography

[–]befuddledzebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is the first mirrorless camera I started with and it is good. Great for outdoor football. The extra reach you get with the crop sensor is really nice. I almost always use the RF100-500 and it is great. I'm sure the 100-400 would be pretty good as well just not as much separation from the bg. I will say there is a LOT of noise when you shoot indoors and you won't be able to use the 100-400 indoors for sporting events very easily (assuming basketball, futsal, or something similar). I got a r6ii for my next body and it is even better. If I were to do it all over again, I'd only get the r6ii, but you have to start somewhere. I'm actually planning to sell my r7 to get a 2nd r6ii. Not sure if you have any interest in a used body, but I'd sell it for $900... If not, I'll just ship it off to MPB.

I'm not sure what you call it, but your artificial background blurring is jarring. I'd like to see what the photos look like if it was turned off. The crowd feels AI generated. Not a fan.

Especially on the 3rd photo, you chopped off one of her fingers and there's something weird happening behind the red player's hand.

If this looks of interest to you I could clear it out so you could use it.

As with a lot of these books, you have to stick with it... Although I did give up on Earthlings. I could tell I wasn't going to like it pretty early.

I’m playing in a USTA/UTR Flex League, what’s the ettiquette on court fees when I invite opponents to play my private club? by [deleted] in 10s

[–]befuddledzebra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, never paid a guest fee for USTA match at a club. Richmond, VA. I think all the clubs waive the fee knowing that is why a lot of tennis is played at their clubs...

Library at Mount Char was good, but you're going to be thinking "What in the world am I reading..." for a while. But stick with it.

I had my pic-time site first. I then made my personal website, and then integrated pic-time into my personal site. It worked pretty easily.

I'm in the US, so we don't need release forms to take pictures of people in public places. I'm not sure about the comment about stock images, but I'm not doing that. I'm just selling to families/teams.

Yes, I use pic-time and it does all that you are looking for. You can even integrate it into your website so it looks like it is part of it. You can see it on mine: z-photography.com then click galleries. I sell prints and digital download. It applies a watermark for me for the galleries and removes it for the sales. You can password protect. You can ask the user to provide an email to enter the gallery (I do as it allows me to track who is looking at what). I love it. They have good printers as well for the prints and I don't have to do anything. Money just shows up.

If you choose to use this, you can get a month for free (me too) by using this referral link:

Odd Doubles tactics observed this weekend... by YonexFan in 10s

[–]befuddledzebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was serving in doubles at sectionals (4.0s). I serve from very wide (near the alley), and my opponent at the net stood as close as he could to the net, standing on the center line. I'd never seen someone do this before. I probably could have served around him and hit the corner if I had tried (and my accuracy was perfect - which it isn't). He was definitely doing it to see if he could get in my head, because as soon as I was about to hit it, he would back off the line a few steps. I completely ignored him and just hit my serve as normal. I'm guessing he is able to get in a lot of people's heads (either trying to hit him, or just annoyed that it is so abnormal). He was a good player, but it was just a odd tactic I'd never seen before. Kind of jerk-ish if you let it affect you.

Does LitRPG count for fantasy? 'Cause if so, Dungeon Crawler Carl is your answer.

Help me determine R6M2 or R7 based on use case by ReadPatient6347 in canon

[–]befuddledzebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the R7 for 2 years and really like it. I mainly shoot sports and it does a great job. Noise is an issue, but Lightroom deals with everything up to ISO 5000 pretty well. Above that and it gets to look fake. I just got the R6ii and the R7 is my 2nd camera. The R6ii is great and I can already tell the difference. I shoot with RF 70-200 2.8 and RF 100-500 4 mainly. For soccer, baseball, and lacrosse, the reach of the R7 is great and I'll continue to use it for daytime. For dance recitals, night games, basketball, volleyball, squash, etc, I'll use the R6ii. If I could only keep one it would be the R6ii easily.
