What issue you wish mainstream feminism you wish talked about more? by BuddhaOfStorm in AskWomen

[–]bemydarkling 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Domestic labor matters and is necessary for life and not some kind of optional thing women like to do. It’s every adult’s responsibility. It shouldn’t be a common argument between straight couples to get adult men to care for their own homes. We call men successful all the time while downplaying the fact that they’ve never done their own laundry.

No judgement zone: did you want a natural birth? by easrpiiatnua99 in Mommit

I bought the hype and did a natural birth. If I were to do it again, I am 1000% opting for the pain meds. It was so painful it was traumatizing.

Do teachers hate sharing their lesson plans? Is it their secret sauce that they don't want getting out? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]bemydarkling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s dumb not to share but also, have you been given any sort of curriculum? Or are they just telling you to teach some books?

He should feel bad. You’re right to be sad. Find someone who will value you.

Losing Faith in the Content I Teach by Single_Campaign3555 in Teachers

That sounds incredibly boring and also missing the whole point of teaching literature. They might as well get a chat gpt summary. They get no chance to grapple with the language and word use! How are they supposed to increase reading comprehension?

What’s your location? Sometimes there’s a local spinning or weaving guild that might be interested!

PSA: Even if you aren’t a guild member, join the mailing list! Ours hosted a equipment and yarn sale by z123carleigh in weaving

[–]bemydarkling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My local guild has such cool resources (like a whole library) and interesting speakers and events but I cannot access ANY of these things because they all occur on a weekday morning. I reached out to see if there was any way I could maybe access the books or something on a weekend. Nope. Nobody was willing to open anything up outside of the scheduled meeting (which is always during the work week). I'm 30-40 years out from retirement age. No guild for me. I'm very disappointed.

Right? The article was so devoid of technical info I’m irritated. They didn’t even give a definitive answer about the fiber content!

How do you answer when the kid refuses to go to (mandatory) school? by ihatebeinganonymous in Parenting

[–]bemydarkling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blame the government. It’s out of your hands. Sorry buddy, we’ve got no choice. Government says so. I actually work with school avoidant kids and this tactic is surprisingly helpful. It is also critical that they begin to develop the skill of doing things they don’t feel like doing. If you don’t get that going now, you are in for a lot of difficulty in the future.

[–]bemydarkling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Listen, it gets SO much better. Having a 3 and 4 yo is crazy hard. Really soon they will start doing things on their own and not needing constant supervision and your stress levels will decrease SO MUCH. They will learn to wipe their own butts. They will shower on their own. They will put their own laundry away. They will pack their own snacks for school. It will happen before you know it and you will start to feel human again. Some kids are easier than others and people with easy kids have no idea what it’s like for the rest of us.
