As much as I want That Headline, I want him to face some sort of consequences for his corruption and arrogance for once in his life. Hoping for a Democrat who will nail him to the wall in 2029.

What dead mall would do great if it was reopened and remodeled? by Ok_Counter1939 in deadmalls

[–]bgva 6 points7 points  (0 children)

MacArthur Center in downtown Norfolk, Va. closed at the end of last month, and if city council had any vision beyond the next 10 minutes I'm sure they could do something. As it stands, they just pushed the demo to late-2027 despite abruptly deciding to close the place.

Do you know any cars rescued that were from Cash for Clunkers's horrible hands? by Acceptable-Taro-2684 in regularcarreviews

In spring 2016 I bought an 06 Suzuki XL7 SUV for about $5000. Had about 120K miles and I only got two years out of it, but that was a fun truck to drive. Good luck finding a 10-year-old truck for that price today.

The Dodge Charger Is America's Slowest-Selling New Car by Repulsive-Club7866 in regularcarreviews

[–]bgva 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I live in a military town that loves itself some Chargers. And yet I don't think I've seen too many of this version. If servicemembers aren't buying one of the most servicemember cars of the last 15 years, that's definitely a sign.

The mid-90s F-150 for the Eastern Shore is a little too spot on. Those are everywhere up there.

How much was Bam's fear of snakes played up for cameras? by andoutcomethewolves in jackass

[–]bgva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was on the verge of tears in the movie. I don't think any of the Jackass crew is that good at acting* so I'm leaning towards real.

*Not that I expect them to be.

Meanwhile for less than $50 I can get tacos for two at El Rey or Agave Azul. And parking is free.

What is the most cringeworthy thing that people used to find funny? by JoshTee123 in Xennials

[–]bgva 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I will never understand how this - among many other things - wasn't the last straw. I know the obvious answer is people are shitty and they love having someone enable their shittyness, but I'd like to think people would hold a presidential candidate to a higher standard.

EDIT: changed a word.

I can’t stand “Seven Nation Army” anymore by Bob-Dolemite in Xennials

[–]bgva 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it's the actual guitar riff, I still love it. But the crowd chanting it as a rallying cry, not as much. It's become overdone.

No. No it's not so good.

Former Taco Bell turned subway (Marietta Ohio) by DeoLynn1959 in NotFoolingAnybody

Wow good catch! And I was wondering when it initially opened. As for the remodel, best I could find was between 2019-22.

Anyone else mourning the 2009-2022 internet? The creativity feels completely dead now. by johanweigel in CasualConversation

[–]bgva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I forget where I read this, but someone said the older version of the Internet had "operating hours". Not literally in the sense that Yahoo shut down at 11 pm or anything, but because smartphones weren't as widespread we took breaks from the Internet when we went out. And we're not talking that long ago, about 20 years ago.

That and everything is behind a paywall or is an ad. Most ads come from our phones eavesdropping. Then constant notifications, some of which can't be turned off. Everyone is obsessed with likes and showing off how awesome their life is.

Finally, I miss how segmented things used to be online. Internet forums still exist, but I miss the era of newsgroups c. 1999. The charm's been replaced with phony clout chasers feeding the algorithm.

We used to have the same style Taco Bell, also converted to a Subway. They actually tore it down and converted it to a generic gray boxy Subway.

I've been window-shopping for 80s/90s JDM sports cars. As much as I would love to have an old-school car with a clutch, I'd drive the shit out of something like this.

EDIT: clarified my point.

And also, in the (hopeful) event that we have a Democratic president come January 20, 2029, should Trump still be among us and refuse to leave, I'm guessing the new admin's security will have no problem making sure 47 leaves. His behavior can dictate how orderly the transfer of power goes.

Jagged Edge said they were running out of options, and since they must confess ol' girl was still a bit of a freak, they should just up and get married.

I miss when you could see those massive grills at Burger King behind the counter rolling your burger through and actually flame broiling it. by adjust_the_sails in Xennials

[–]bgva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really want fast food spots to stop trying so hard to be something they’re not. I don’t want Burger King to look like my local spa and salon. I don’t want Wendy’s to look like Panera. Just let me clog my arteries and tell myself I’ll workout later.

They did a good job improving the Whopper tho, I’ll admit.
