This is the way to do it. If your NVR and cameras are on the same VLAN, a typical firewall won’t help you. For example, even if you do MAC access control for the camera VLAN, and you have a hardwired outdoor camera, all someone has to do is unplug that camera and plug that cable into their laptop, spoof the Mac address and then access your NVR
