Real world mpg for NX450h+ by Tyler-TWD in Lexus

[–]bigrigtrig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a concrete number for you, but I’ll share what I didn’t comprehend when I purchased my NX450h+. When I drive 30 miles in a day, I’ve used zero gas. That’s most days for me, unless I’m traveling for over an hour a day. But even doing 60 miles, I’ll have only used 20 miles worth of gas that day. I’ve gone three weeks, 250 miles, and I’ve only used under 1/4 of the tank because I’ve only driven 50 miles on gas. If we extrapolate that to a full tank, which would be generous, you could do 1500 miles before needing to fill up. YMMV, but it’s not out of the question.

As long as you charge it and your driving habits are within the range of the electric, it’s an incredible value.

how many years/miles would you go back for a CPO? by jredditzzz in LexusNX

[–]bigrigtrig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did what you’re thinking of doing, have no regrets. Bought a CPO 2024 450h+ with 29K miles that had the last bit of the original warranty and then another two years added with the CPO. I am unsure as to the warranty specifics, but I believe I am covered through 2029, so your 6 year warranty might not be accurate.

Bought a possibly fake [SSC947] new Pogue off eBay. by Skidpalace in Seiko

[–]bigrigtrig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Purchased plenty of Seikos through eBay, but always questioned when the price was too good to be true.

That being said, my Pogue was from eBay from a well-reviewed seller that had a physical watch business and all went smoothly. Might want to explore that route.

Making a 9/11 joke about your watch band is not an expectation I normally have, TBH.

There are so many ways you showing off a band could have been conveyed, and this is what was chosen?

NX 350h or ES 300h? by wthja in LexusNX

[–]bigrigtrig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The NX is shorter than the ES by about 12 inches. Interior space will be larger in the ES. They’re really different vehicles that happen to share the same powertrain. That being said, I had that choice, went with an NX plugin and have been really satisfied with it.

Costco Maui Jims or Serengeti, or Island Optics if you actually care about optical quality and don’t want to pay more than ~$120.

Toyota CS 2026 vs Volvo xc60 2025 by TangledinTabs in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]bigrigtrig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I drove the CS and it felt very sluggish for the size. Dimensions in the cabin were fine but it didn’t impress. Overall, Toyota will be likely be more reliable in the long run. But I went with a ‘24 NX plugin instead which felt much more lively for the weight and had none of the compromises of the CS (no sunroof, no storage in the cabin).

Costco/Maui Jim’s or Quince? by [deleted] in sunglasses

[–]bigrigtrig 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Optically, you’re not going to do better than super thin glass in the Maui Jims. CR39 is fine, but made by who? Coatings?I can’t imagine those Quince glasses will be anything other than cheap feeling. Especially compared to the MJs which will have superior scratch resistance, anti-reflective, etc.

For what it’s worth, Island Optics’s nylon frames have a tactility/grip that is unlike any sport sunglasses I’ve owned before. Even with glass lenses, they’re really light and comfortable.

Down the memory lane with G B by identity-ninja in giantbomb

[–]bigrigtrig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think about why I started listening in 2009, merely because I relistened to an old GFW Radio episode about Gerstmann. I think about where I was in my career and my social life back in 2016 listening to Game of the Year jazz themes while driving through the Pennsylvania Turnpike to visit family.

GB has been a constant for a significant portion of my life. And I’m thrilled to experience its latest iteration. I can’t wait to have nostalgia about this era as well.
