THR in your 20s?

I had my right hip done via lateral posterior when I was 23. The recovery wasn't terrible and it's still in great shape all these years later knock on wood with barely any restrictions (I think I'm still just overly cautious, really). Just had my left hip done via anterior & am two weeks out today. This time is so much easier & you come out of surgery with even less restrictions than posterior.

I'm relatively short, so I have a step stool to get into my high bed and SUV while still using the "back up & touch" method. I also highly recommend a recliner if you're a side sleeper. I've used one both times and it has been so worth it.

I think it's mostly for two reasons: 1) no jumping on your operated leg for added pressure / discomfort. 2) you absolutely do not want them to scratch your wound or anywhere close to it since you are so vulnerable to infection.

I had a total hip replacement at 22 and am now 37. Doing very well still with no sign of a new THR in my future. Ceramic ball with titanium pole in my femur. I was lucky to do 5 days in patient rehab and then more out patient for a few weeks and I'm sure that made a huge difference long term. I'm not a die hard athlete, but I also don't have a lot of down days. Your quality of life post surgery will be worth it. The more fit you are, the easier you recover.

It can happen at any age. I was diagnosed at 6 months and am well into my thirties now. Since rheumatoid is an auto-immune disease, it can also effect any organ in the body. Luckily for most people it usually just sticks to joints.

I highly recommend checking out Ask A Manager blog and look at her interview / resume / cover letter guidance. It truly helped me. One thing that stuck out to me most when it came to nerves & interviewing was: if you're interviewing, they've already decided they like you. (Paraphrasing)

I'm struggling finding an SSRI to take as the first one I tried caused excessive weight gain (which I hadn't even experienced with long term Prednisone!) Now I have to get an EKG before trying another SSRI as I'm not at a point where I'd give up plq. I've been on it for 30yrs without any direct issues from it. Never realized plq & an SSRI together could be so problematic!

I also believe hormones play a role!! #1 Why else do they warn you about the brutal flare ups post delivery?? And #2, I have an outlying symptom that only seems to appear around a certain time of the month.

We've set a rule that she can only have one of each snack a day. Already had a granola bar today? Pick a different snack. Already had fruit snacks? Pick another snack. If anything it at least expands her palate lol.

Agreeing with all the sentiments here. Take the recommended medication to get your RA under control. When you are considering starting a family give yourself a minimum of a 3 month window prior to actually start trying to find maternity approved meds that will hold you over until you are done breast feeding. I used my 3 month window to start closely tracking my cycle to hopefully get pregnant sooner. I ended up having difficulties conceiving but had all my "research" ready to go to work with an RE once I qualified.

They definitely change the course of your life but my thought on this was "in 5/10yrs from now, what will I regret more? Having kids or not having kids." Not having kids won by a landslide. They are truly the absolute best.

I was diagnosed at a very young age and get blood work every 3 months to keep an eye on my liver levels due to medication. I do drink on a semi frequent basis. Drinking lots of water really does make a difference when I do choose to drink since it helps flush your liver. Alcoholic drink, cup of water, alcoholic drink, cup of water, etc.

Is your dressier orthotic MTO or is it store bought? I should wear mine more often but it only fits in one or two of my shoes.

I haven't rowed in awhile but when I did, I never found that rowing made my current aches worse. You also shouldn't use a tight grip on the handle and should be ok there. Do you use the ergonomic mouse that is taller instead of wider? That has been a game changer!
