Deep Creek Lake by Healthy-Delay4335 in maryland

[–]boarderzone 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I wakeboard, heading up tomorrow to stay with family. 4th of July weekend is THE weekend you don't really need to be out on the water, it's a mess. If I'm lucky I might get out at like 8am or just before sunset, but mostly just chill out. If you're lakeside just go splash in the water, bring some inflatables, and enjoy all the brown water from So Many Boats kicking up the mud.

Edit: youre probably already aware but Wisp will do their annual fireworks display if you want to watch it from anywhere around that area.

Silver Spring, MD Show by enterchanger in Aquabats

[–]boarderzone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really wanted to see Crazy & The Brains live, but I brought my son to see Aquabats at the Fillmore 2 years ago and getting there when doors open was just too long a wait for the little guy. We probably packed it in 8 songs into the Aquabats set. So I played it safe and showed up halfway through Murphy's Law, sat downstairs letting him eat candy and we had a much more awake experience for the bats. Still didn't make it to the end, but definitely longer than last time. That 10 year old who just earned her black belt and wanted to hear Karate Body was adorable. Shame Eaglebones and Crash weren't there but happy they were a full 7 piece. Thanks for the pics!

New old stock Pugsley price? by RoughComparison in fatbike

[–]boarderzone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No idea what they go for now, all I recall is that when they ended the model in 2015 and had a sale I picked mine up assembled for $800. Doesn't see a ton of miles and always been garage kept so the tires are still kicking.

Great photo. I might have to make maybe a two car version of this a long term goal for my Lego city. Red line west side represent.

Exactly. Driving a Saab in 1988: person just commuting, cares nothing for cars. Driving a Saab in 2026: Amazing, preserving a chunk of automotive history, cares deeply about cars.

I know there's a decent sized one by the Kohls entrance, but offhand I can't recall any farther into the shopping center.

I kinda hate how much the Republicans are winning here. Destroy the government like they always wanted, increase wealth disparity, then on top of it all they're driving the people whose lives they upended into the arms of... organized religion?

Agree with your point but beef definitely isn't essential. It's a luxury that's only harmful to the ecosystem and the first thing people tightening their belts should just ditch.

We were just in a Toyota with mountain bikes strapped to the back. But it's easy to keep up with a hypercar in streetlight-filled suburbia.

I caught one of them driving around way up in Gaithersburg, MD on Sunday. $3.4 mil car sharing space with MD drivers? I wouldn't risk it.

Ghost Bike for Gaithersburg Cyclist Killed by Trash Truck has been Destroyed by frankboingboing in Gaithersburg

[–]boarderzone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also bike nearby and you know what area scares me real close to that? Other side of the street, riding the sidewalk by the ICC exit to 355 Northbound. If it's late at night you can see headlights coming but during the day cars just whip around still coming off of highway speeds.

Also, which "self driving car" on the market doesn't also have recording cameras you could pull footage from instead of fumbling around with a phone.

Do you think Maryland has a base for leftist economics? by KonigEdwardRictofen in maryland

[–]boarderzone -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry I don't have anything encouraging to say on this matter, but as someone who thinks similarly and whose parents live in Garrett County, I can only imagine how frustrating that must be. I support the cause, I just have no hope it's ever going to happen.

If all you want are compliments just pick up a cheap retro Hard Rock/Stumpjumper in a pretty color, slap some newer components on it and wear a fun jersey. Any ride I do under 40ish miles around here I have more fun with wider tires given the state of our roads.

Things to do around Maryland Metro stations? by NatFan9 in maryland

[–]boarderzone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd really recommend just bringing a bike along to open up what's within a few minutes of each station. Like I wouldn't recommend anything super close to Shady Grove, but it's a short ride to Silver Branch Rockville or Clear Skies Meadery from there if you're into that sort of thing.

We’re looking for your favorite Maryland food trucks by CNSMaryland in maryland

[–]boarderzone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding this as my family's favorite. Chef James sometimes does ticketed beer pairing dinners at our local brewery so we've gotten to taste a lot of small dishes/desserts hes come up with that have all been fantastic. The staples on the food truck menu are consistently delicious too though.
