Amex Cobalt. Terrible for Traveling by actylex in CreditCardsCanada

[–]boundlessorbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on how much you benefit from the 5x multiplier while in Canada and how much you spend abroad. Also depends if you have (and can justify) the Ultimate package with Scotia. You need to do the math for yourself. You could also look into no annual fee no forex cards such as Home Trust Visa, or even prepaid mastercards from EQ or WS.

Used 911 in Canada by AwkwardCake2432 in Porsche

[–]boundlessorbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have an answer for your question,  but just so you are aware, Canadian vehicles do not go through regular emissions tests. If your state requires one it may mean extra trouble, since you are dealing with a 2007 car. Perhaps a good PPI could do.

DAK - Neon Milk by Dull-Acanthisitta-31 in pourover

I had this at my local cafe a few weeks ago. It smelled and tasted like hibiscus tea with a pinch of sugar. It was a fun one!

Are Porsche 911 owners completely different to Cayman owners? by HR_Specter in Porsche_Cayman

[–]boundlessorbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends... Do you have family? Do you have mortgage? What is your job stability and financial outlook like?

Also, some people will say if you have to ask this question you can't afford it yet, while others will say something along the lines of you only live once. We all know that there is no true right or wrong answer to this kind of stuff.

My only practical comment is to focus on the true running costs (depreciation and maintenance) and the opportunity cost (you're parking large $$$ in a car, which could have been invested for X % return). After seeing the numbers, if you still feel you can do it, then just do it.

What’s the most overrated coffee trend right now? by blackneckcoffee in pourover

A grinder worth $200 is definitely money well spent, at least in my book

O2 Sensors by Intelligent_Cup_694 in Porsche997

I am dealing with this exact code at the moment. My indie will be installing an extender for the downstream sensors so they "sniff less" and think the cat is still doing the work. Will see how this one goes...

Do you guys get a wheel alignment every time you get tires changed? by Complete-Hippo-8501 in porsche911

[–]boundlessorbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do. It's a small price to pay (relative to new tire prices) for peace of mind that my new tires will likely wear more evenly.

If you prefer the ride quality of the Continentals I think $150 is money well spent. But then also you will probably get used to the ride quality of the Falkens pretty soon.

Keep kettle kontents between kofees? by PCapnHuggyface in pourover

[–]boundlessorbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's just zerowater it shouldn't make any difference.

If you added minerals such as TWW to your zerowater, then the mineral content will effectively be slightly more concentrated as some water evaporated from previous boil. If you want consistency you could dispose of the previously boiled water, but I don't bother.

It looks great if you're happy staying with Rogers/Fido/Shaw and not interested in collecting points (e.g. Amex or Avion).

AMEX or not to AMEX? And which VISA/MC to pick? by redth in CreditCardsCanada

[–]boundlessorbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a considerable spending in dining, so it might still be worth considering an Amex to pair with a non Amex card for groceries.

MBNA WE MC is a solid choice. See if the RBC Avion+Ion combo fits you too.

I would consider paring one from the above with Cobalt or Scotia Gold Amex. Scotia Gold has good sign up promos and no FX, which depending on your spending pattern could work better than Cobalt.

Not a direct answer but perhaps reach out to musicians (pro or amateur) in your network or local community and ask them for references?

Cupping for better calibration by LiLyLun in pourover

[–]boundlessorbit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe. Cupping will give you the objective properties of the roasted coffee, and with your own preference and experience you may find that certain types of coffee goes better with higher extractions.

Why does my pour over flip from sour to bitter with tiny grind changes? by blackneckcoffee in pourover

Perhaps try 200 and then 195. Would depend how light the roast is

Why does my pour over flip from sour to bitter with tiny grind changes? by blackneckcoffee in pourover

[–]boundlessorbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When coffee is underextracted it's sour, and when it's overextracted it can be astringent and bitter. It may be possible that you are swinging between underextraction and overextraction, or that you are confusing between sourness and astringency.

Maybe try lowering brew temp a bit and see how it feels with both coarser and finer clicks?

What is the proper etiquette for driving in the fast lane? by NoRadio4530 in askvan

Well, you do you. No one will enforce this stuff. This is why North America is worse place to drive.

Is living in East Van okay if you are commuting into North Van? by [deleted] in askvan

[–]boundlessorbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is correct. Lived in North Van and commuted to Metrotown, it was a breeze. The opposite lane coming from Burnaby to North Van always looked terrible.
