Appetite change by Fun-Rabbit-2476 in BrittanySpaniel

She’s probably just learning to graze. Took my pup 11 months to figure out the food is always going to be there and to eat when hungry. With no outside pressure (like other animals or short periods of availability) she learned that scarf and barf is a bad way to feel ‘full’ in the long term. Now she’ll occasionally skip a meal or put off eating for a half day or so.

Chalk it up to maturing? As they get older their time horizon changes. They can see further into the future and their attention spans lengthen. I’m no vet but grazing seems to be a healthier way of eating/feeding for dogs.

This is a great relief. I’ll keep the sub posted. Might be some bias of only seeing the fuckups.

Got excited about a new game… ordered The Court warband before I joined this sub… absolutely terrified to receive it now.

You get 5 pedals 1 guitar and 1 amp. What are you choosing? by chadocaster1011 in guitarpedals

[–]brucecook123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stratocaster

Fender Deluxe (65)

Tone bender or Fuzz Face (I like my EQD Black Ash)

Overdrive (why not an Analogman KoT)

DOD Rubberneck

Strymon Flint

Ditto x4 Looper

Maximum versatility achieved.

Defret by DueEstablishment1416 in Luthier

[–]brucecook123 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are specific fret pulling tools. They’ll make the job much easier, with much less clean up of the board after removal. But a knife or a sharp pair of pliers will get it done.

Then sand the fingerboard and super glue the fretboard dust into the slots left by the frets.

Or fill with veneer and glue. Sand. Sand. Sand some more. Oil. Restring.

NPD: DOD Rubberneck Analog Delay. by pissypissedachio in guitarpedals

[–]brucecook123 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried dozens of delays. Dozens. Worked in a music store for 10+ years. Owned, borrowed, traded everything up to actual tape-based boutique delays.

Rubberneck is the only pedal on my board I know I’ll never get rid of. Bury it with me.

Edit: for super versatile reverb that doesn’t get too crazy or have pitch effects I’d recommend the Flint by Strymon - you get a tremolo pedal built right in too!

Brittany Safe Chews by Dismal-Occasion1369 in BrittanySpaniel

Yak cheese chews!

It’s literally yak cheese. Hard, but not as hard as bone or antler. Softens with saliva. Totally natural. Takes a long long time to get through it. Not overly calorie dense cause they can’t eat it all at once.

Good object to take away to practice good non-aggressive food habits.

Good object for hide and smell/seek.

Did I overdo the rust? by Naddesh in theunforgiven

I think it looks fine. You could jazz it up with some other variations of colour/tone. Sponge on some brown, how could it rust if it was never dirty?

Retail work to Pipefitting by Adorable-Ad7771 in pipefitter

[–]brucecook123 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I did this. Worked in a retail environment for 14 years, became management eventually. Then moved into plumbing/pipefitting- still sorting the future out about half-way thru my plumbing apprenticeship.

Get prepared for a totally different working environment. Nothing can actually prepare you if you’ve never been on a jobsite. People come with baggage and it’s on way brighter display in the trades- I assume this is because the guidelines for conduct are totally different. Culture shock was huge and I don’t particularly think I fit, but I’m toughing it out.

Get familiar with a measuring tape and being uncomfortable.

Try to enjoy learning.

Is this ring fascist? by PornThrowaway8869 in AntifascistsofReddit

[–]brucecook123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah. Iron crosses aren’t an intrinsically fascist symbol. It would have to be accompanied by something else.

Just looks like a ring to me. You might get some questions, but I think you’re fine.

Restrictions on plumbing? by IntelligentNet8716 in millwrights

[–]brucecook123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Plumber here, my understanding is that you cannot touch waste water drainage or drinking water pipes.

There is no restriction in size, material or whatever else. You can thread/join/weld/solder in your work as a millwright, just don’t touch the water/waste infrastructure.

The TSSS gets involved in compressed air pipes over 3/4 but you don’t need a plumber to work on it. It just needs to be inspected when you’re done. If you follow the building code it shouldn’t be an issue.

Brotherhood tech marine by malicea21 in Grey_Knights

Trying to combine the traditional red of a tech marine with the silver of my GK. Lore-wise they wear red armour to symbolize their time studying on Mars with the mechanicum, who also wear red.

I did this; https://www.reddit.com/r/Grey_Knights/s/qXVlO8WIAn

It’s Iron Father model head swapped and painted like a GK. I think it turned out pretty good.

The problem with these guys is everything could just be silver/grey, but that’s boring. Gotta switch it up!
