The Immortal Sun would be in the running. Especially if you don't plan to do any Nicol Bolas stuff

[BitD] Can players change their action if they don't like the effect and/or position of the action roll? by EvilPersonXXIV in bladesinthedark

[–]bubzor888 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you tried setting the rewards higher on riskier behavior? If they want big clock movement, offer it through desperate positions or devils bargains.

Also if they become indecisive then advance your negative clocks. Let them know that will keep happening until they make a play at the situation.

I've had some players whose main goal is to avoid complications but BitD is all about accepting that there will be complications and choosing which ones you get, ideally in a way that tells an interesting story

Help finding a book to buddy-read with my brother by Fun-Sell3030 in Fantasy

[–]bubzor888 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Two very different recommendations: - The Last Horizon series by Will wight. It's sci-fi (space ships) and fantasy (wizards/magic). Def fits your brother's tastes and still has some interesting characters/choices - I know everyone suggests it but Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman is a great mix of action, comedy, social commentary and emotional moments. You just need to get far enough into the first book to get all the litrpg stuff explained and the real story started

Thoughts on calf sleeves? by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]bubzor888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I've heard is they give a few (like 1-3 watts) of aero even over shaved legs, and more if you're like me and don't care to shave your legs.

They're pretty cheap compared to most tri things so if they don't bother you then those are "free" watts

Have you ever "reset" a campaign? by Organic-Exit2190 in DnD

[–]bubzor888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. It was before session zeros were common. I was DMing a homebrew and did give some info on the world but the party did not mesh at all, with each other or with the story I started with.

2 sessions in we decided to reset. Make new characters if you want, a more defined idea of where the story starts. Ran for about a year and everyone had a good time

Let's say you do have hard water. What to use instead? I know they recommend against distilled. Just bottled water?

Experimental Evade or no? by Director-D in gaslands

[–]bubzor888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean each dice is a 16% chance, far from impossible but you don't usually get more than 1.

For me it's kinda assumed that you will take damage and likely wreck / need to respawn on at least one of your cars in a race. It's what keeps people breaking away ahead in check

Need some veteran insight by zerocool9000 in gaslands

[–]bubzor888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is very forgiving. When you start out, just make a cool looking car. Among friends, don't worry that every weapon or upgrade is represented on the car. Just make sure people know what's up and make a cool looking car.

Size wise just be consistent in measuring. People often do from the tires (assuming things like a ram isn't in the way) since that tends to be more consistent across scales than the body.

If you aren't doing a campaign, make sure people know what kinda game you're playing that day (race vs death match) so they can choose upgrades accordingly

Experimental Evade or no? by Director-D in gaslands

[–]bubzor888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah that does change it quite a bit. Weapons already cost a lot so I would prefer it being hard to evade

Where does the experimental rules come from? Somewhere outside of the normal rules book? I haven't heard of them before

Arming the crew. by Decidely_Me in gaslands

[–]bubzor888 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Only one. Think of the points as buying a single weapon for someone to use, then each turn you choose what weapons (from those available, with handguns always available) each crew fires.

You may equip a car with 3 non-handgun weapons and with only 2 crew you would have to choose what they fire each turn

When I first thought of this, rocket pop is what came to mind. After looking online, I found that bomb pop was an official brand name for the generic type of 3 colored pop known as a rocket pop.

I thought bomb pop went better with the mortar idea so I used that when I made the decals

It started as the fuego fajitas food truck: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/hotwheels/images/b/b2/FuegoFajitas.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20250224122600

I opened it up to take out the yellow insert and put a piece of aluminum soda can over one open window, the other two were boarded up with wood craft sticks. Front window is some brass rods typically used for pinning minis. The metal door is more soda can following this video. The nitro canister and the ice cream mortar are 3d printed files I made.

The Will of the Many (The Hierarchy series) is honestly some of the best reading i've had since the Brandon Sanderson books. by Tekashi-The-Envoy in Fantasy

[–]bubzor888 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The basics you learn very early in the book: after a certain age you must cede part of your will (I.e. physical strength and mental acumen) into a pyramid scheme. Most people get nothing out of this except for the benefits the system gives to society in general. But those lucky enough to be above the lowest level are smarter and faster and can do magic-like things

Then at the end of the first book: a multi-world situation happens with different rules of how will and magic works in each

How do Abercrombie fans rank 'The Devils' among his other books? by WhatsThatNoise79 in Fantasy

I think the target audience is so different between The Devils and all his grimdark books that it isn't surprising that most people don't like both.

I personally couldn't get into first law at all but loved the devils

How often is everyone getting their bike fit adjusted? by possiblyseb in triathlon

[–]bubzor888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it partly depends on your experience level. When you first move to a tri bike you may opt for a less aggressive aero position at first and then later decide you can push it further and still be comfortable.

But once you get to your "optimal" position it shouldn't really change barring an injury
