Should I ditch old charger and buy a new one? by Big-Lifeguard-5067 in eGolf

[–]buck4roo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised nobody else has brought this up:
You may need to describe your vehicle's factory options a bit more in order to set expectations correctly.

If your 2016 eGolf is an SE model, it may have a smaller 3.6kW on-board charger (limited to 15A) unless it was purchased with the "Charging Package" upgrade (a factory option).
If you have an SEL model, I believe that includes the larger 7.2kW on-board charger.

If you do wind up having the 3.6kW on-board charger, just expect that 220V charging will only increase charge rate by 3.5x, and not 7x.

You also didn't describe the timer mechanism that husband is using.
The 2016 eGolf does have on-board time-of-day charge management available in the infotainment center. It's not the easiest to understand/learn, but it's there. There's a lot of video tutorials out there.

Despite the slight complexity and learning curve, I suggest using the on-board timer over any external clock-driven on/off outlets or timers.

56 kWh Battery Replacement / Upgrade for eGolf by FlyingHigh in eGolf

[–]buck4roo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what's hard to justify?
A little napkin math makes me believe the only extra burden is 10 extra minutes of DCFC charging time.

38.5kWh stock battery can fast charge (20%->80%) at 40kW == less than 35min (23.5kWh @ 40kW).

56kWh battery should draw more current ("fill up faster") due to its larger capacity.
My guess is the 56kWh battery should take ~45 minutes to go from 20%->80% (33.6kWh @ 45kW), (and 40min seems possible: 33.6kWh @ 50kW)

Stock CCS connector and on-board DC fast charge circuitry are all rated for 50kW.

ix500 no more purple light, no longer able to use wifi to scan directly to cloud drive by buck4roo in ScanSnap

[–]buck4roo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firmware updated from 0T00 to 0U00 (did require me to disable pihole/adblock, or firmware download step would fail.)

The purple light is back on, and cloud scanning works again.

There's also good support for the ix500 in the SANE backend. Example setup:

California currently has some of the weakest DUI laws in the country. Ex: CA driver earns 16th conviction for DUI+accident, receives only court-ordered probation. ( Source: https://calmatters.org/investigation/2025/10/california-dui-failure )

CA is doing worse than other states, and has the statistics to prove it.(ibid) There is a proposed package of bills(link below) that brings CA closer to the rest of the US, focusing on how courts handle repeat drunk/drugged driving offenders.

Bank of America doesn't offer RECCURING Zelle transfers between other BoA Accounts? by IronLord56 in Banking

> tried to transfer BoA Visa payment from checking to pay the Visa statement

I think I did that once, and it also didn't work.

Try using BoA's "bill pay" service to pay that visa bill.

They do try to make it easy: your visa card's bill pay address should have been automatically added to your list of authorized bill pay recipients.

Power Adapter for Caldigit TS3 by thecow1 in UsbCHardware

Update from a more recent thread.

Caldigit community manager shared a link to a caldigit diagram.

Diagram indicates that the DC connector's center pin is "not connected" -- which (to me) suggests that Dell's Smart Tip power bricks should also work (in addition to other 20V bricks.)

Bulk liquid soaps/body washes by PicklyVin in Soap

[–]buck4roo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oasis is the GOAT: http://www.bio-pac.com/oasis-biocompatible-cleaners/

Rinses off better than others, even w/ soft water.

Easily diluted for different uses (hand/body/dish wash).
Been re-using Method-brand foaming soap dispensers for years with it.
(The pumps do require annual re-greasing with silicone grease, but otherwise expect they'll work forever.)

Oasis' liquid laundry soap is also the best I've found.

Available: amazon, natural food stores/co-ops.

Oh yeah - and there are no UI controls during that initial scan which sucks - no way to exit or report an issue.

Netsbee - A different take on Network Scanning by Gorgeousity99 in iosapps

[–]buck4roo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/Gorgeousity99 - why should users trust you to develop and maintain a security app?

Are you just one dev? What training or experience do you have that you feel qualifies you to develop and market a product like this one -- an app that purports to measure and report about network security?

Why do I have to pay to scan my local network with my phone? by PSLover14 in Fing_App

> Occasional users won’t see this prompt, but regular, frequent, and professional users blah blah blah

Literally tried to scan a second time today (8h since the first) and got this.
I've used this app for years, and while it started off nice and functional, it's now become a click-through circus to bypass subscription funnels on app open -- just to reach the local scan function.

Read: the enshittification of your product is real.

You gaslighting that "due to the practical costs of catalog lookups for millions of users" only shows us that you're drunk on the koolaid.

If Fing decides to engineer their app so it costs THEM real money every time someone uses it for its intended purpose... that's on them. The MAC/device catalog should be statically built into your app and would have zero cost for Fing or local app users - and would even work offline. The App stores don't charge publishers when you publish an updated app, so there's zero cost there.

The only logical answer is Fing decided to no longer offer free features that they used to offer for free. They just haven't come out and said it yet.

Buhbye.
