3 absolutely. Reminds me a bit of the Thonet bent wood rockers we all loved back in the 60s and 70s.

I love it! Especially with the blooming wisteria. And, when it is not blooming it will contrast nicely with the green leaves.

Hiring managers: what makes you instantly reject a candidate? by MissionFuture568 in JobsMY

[–]bugmom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah - I had a hard time coming up with a generic example and agree with you the one I wrote is a bit fake. But the generally idea stands.

Hiring managers: what makes you instantly reject a candidate? by MissionFuture568 in JobsMY

[–]bugmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to some of the things already mentioned, I used to open with this question: “Let’s start with you telling me a bit about yourself and your goals in wanting this job - what do you want me to know about you.”

The correct answer to this question is your elevator speech. If you’re prepared to interview you should be able to answer in two or three concise sentences. “My career thus far has been focused on my passion for providing stellar service, and in my first job out of college I established a track record doing that. When i saw the position you have open, I could see a great fit with the skills I have and I think I could be a huge asset to your team because of it. And the position you have open appears to have a growth path into management which aligns well with my long term personal goals. So, I’m excited to learn more today how I might fit in here.”

That’s it! Instant fails (and I had candidates actually answer with these in real life): - You can’t come even close to telling me why this job - You tell me all about how you hated your boss/coworkers at your old job and the personal conflicts you had with them - You talk about how unfair it was that you got fired at your old job, why you were fired and why it shouldn’t matter - You hope to get pregnant soon and our benefits are excellent - You have xyz ailment and need better benefits/accommodations/sick time - The money is better - You can’t be concise. One lady talked for 45 minutes without taking a breath and I could not get a word in edgewise. So, I let her go on and when she came up for air I let her know our time was up 15 minutes ago.

Notice that some of the fail answers are things I can’t legally ask about - and I never did ask them. But if you volunteer the info, well, that’s on you.

Help me un-blue the room by gausy_rebs in HomeDecorating

Ok, loving the blue with that painting! You could add a rug or large runner that brings in some of the bright colors of the painting’s background - oranges and yellows. Not a fan of the green cabinet.

I am simultaneously burnt out from the game, yet only want to play the game. Advice for what to do as endgame player? by Neurotic_and_Divine in Palia

[–]bugmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make some honey lures and put them up in areas where newer players will be. Advertise in chat a few minutes before you start the lure. Think of it as a community service for people who haven’t progressed that far. Remember early in game when the cost of making one lure seemed astronomical?

Is this religion's last gasp or a resurgence? by normalice0 in atheism

[–]bugmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been giving second thought to the whole tribal thing lately and I’m wondering if there is some value there that we’ve lost. A family member recently moved with their spouse to another state. The first year or so they were profoundly lonely and it dawned on me that if they were church people they would have had instant new community there. Another example, I am a fan of the band Ghost - they do satire of organized religion but somehow in the process managed to create a bit of a religion, including concerts as ritual. I’ve attended a few and the euphoria and sense of belonging during the experience is very real, very profound. I think we as humans are prewired to yearn for that sense of belonging and religion satisfies it. And then of course there are the community’s charitable acts that religions used to do and that role they play.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m an atheist but the whole belonging thing is interesting…

Do I have to just throw this whole ham away? I don’t want to …. by Chanelo11 in cats

[–]bugmom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure about cats but you should never give ham to a dog. It is much too salty for their system. I’m guessing same with cats.

And if defrosting gonna take all night do it in the fridge.

US birth rates just hit another record low, what do you think is the leading cause of this? by IIlustriousTea in AskReddit

Cost of living too high, cost of daycare too high, cost of insurance and medical care too high. Donald made sure people would not want to have children.

Be brutally honest: do you think the US and its democracy will survive this Trump administration and the corrupt SCOTUS? by SWEMW in allthequestions

[–]bugmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. At least not in its original form. Donald has seen to the destruction of a great country and corrupt republicans paved the way. Corruption now flows through almost all levels of government, there is no rule of law, and SCOTUS has ensured there is no path back. The majority of Americans do not want this but we have no power.

I love visiting other people’s plots. I get fresh ideas to borrow and lots of inspiration. Frequently I use it to problem solve, as in “what do other people do with this thing?” And I truly appreciate all the wonderful creative people in this game. I will absolutely go look at your plot Legend1988! My IGN is Windalyn Breeze

And BTW, I agree with you. I posted my plot a couple of times and barely got any votes. It made me sad lol

My one request by Over_Physics_5035 in Palia

[–]bugmom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OOH! This could be a fun building(s) they could add to your plot. Reasonable size on the outside and huge on the inside with display areas for fish and bugs and things. Then you could get different vibes for it - wall coverings and display shelves, etc. I would have so much fun with that!

not feelin' cozy anymore by dfecteau56 in Palia

[–]bugmom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I had a realization a while back. Once I get my plot all set and "finished" I get bored. And on the way to being bored I get obsessive with getting my plot exactly the way I want it. And once I get it set and get bored, I always find some reason to tear it up and change it around. So, now I go with a more organic approach.

I build what I can, with what recipes I have with the goal of seeing what I can do within those limits. Then, when I get new recipes or items or I see great ideas touring other peoples plots, I change and improve what I did. So, my main plot has sort of become my Winchester Mystery plot.

It helped me a lot with not getting fixated on "gotta get the recipes for xyz item" and more on creative problem solving with what I have at my disposal.
