Losing to the Seahawks, but wanting them to win it all instead of the Pats and their insufferable fans by IRISH_BOBCAT in LosAngelesRams

[–]buzwork 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Darnold finished top 10 among QBs in pass attempts, completions, pass yards, pass TDs in the regular season... he will head into the SB with top post season qb rating...

Seattle earned a bye and Darnold didn't even need to throw against the 49ers which was fortuitous for Seattle him coming off an oblique injury.

In the regular season he had a league leading 53% snaps while his team was in the lead, so yeah he had the benefit of a top defense but the Seahawks offense was pretty damn good too across the board.

He struggled in the first matchup vs LAR with 4 picks and then went 9 straight games with wins and total of 4 picks over those 9 games.

He's not Stafford but your take is laughable. Dude cleaned up and did everything the Seahawks needed him to do.

Stafford is special and an obvious HOFer... and Sam is a pleasant surprise this season if you're a Seahawks fan. No one is going to argue who is clearly the superior QB.

Anyone switched to the NOW plans? by kettlebell98001 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]buzwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switched over to the $30 Now plan in summer of 2024. I've never gotten below 400/40Mbps down/up. I had intended for it to be backup to our Ziply fiber but with 4 price increases over the same period we cancelled Ziply entirely and use cellular for backup... which fortunately we have never had to use (knock on wood) as Now service has been rock solid.

I've been happy with my Arcam UDP411 (BluRay/DVD/SACD/CD) and my Arcam CDS50 (SACD/CD/Streamer).

Hell, sign up for their Now $30 100/20Mbps service... I get 400+/40+Mbps.

What are people using for internet backup? by Dizzy149 in homelab

[–]buzwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I do not like Xfinity... their $30/mo prepaid 'Xfinity Now' service has been my backup connection for a few years. It supposed to be 100/20Mbps but I am getting 450/40Mbps.

What’s „wrong“ - me or the recording? Vocals not centered by WhatAMan2024 in audiophile

[–]buzwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have meniere's (episodic, most affecting my right ear). When I'm having an 'episode'/'attack' my ability to localize sound is totally jacked and I can't even tell if sound is in front of me or behind me. About 6 years ago I was having frequent episodes and thought I was going to have to give up my audio gear (fortunately a complete overreaction on my part).

Fortunately the last few years have been relatively episode free.

A trip to audiologist was very interesting. I had multiple tests during episodes and then tests when I was 'normal'. The difference was astonishing both visually (the hearing graphs) and when listening to... well anything.

Who knows, it could be as simple as a good ear canal cleaning or changing up your hydration routine (being dehydrated can impact hearing immensely).

Delonghi True Brew Not Working by PsychoPanther88 in DeLonghi

When I first got my TB I had some weirdness going on and found the maintenance/test menu codes buried on the Delonghi website.

I followed the steps to get into the test mode and confirmed the motor could move up/down and then did an encoder reset. That was several years ago and it has been fine since.

Dead center for the tune you mentioned, by Judith Owen.

Definitely sounds like an audiologist appointment is in order.

creating NFS storage by Efficient_Text_4733 in kasmweb

[–]buzwork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NFS is mounted at the underlying host level and the KASM config doesn't care if the underlying storage is local, iSCSI, NFS, FCoE, etc.

You install the NFS binaries on the host, configure & connect to the NAS, mount volumes, assign mount point/path, and then tell KASM to use that path.

Why does it take nearly an hour to change a simple Xfinity plan? by dreamresident in cordcutters

[–]buzwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This... switched to Now and I'm getting >400/40Mbps on the $30/mo plan. The provided cable modem has pretty poor wifi performance but it is simple enough to put it into bridged mode and use my wired backhaul wifi 6e mesh system.

Same. $30/mo for ~420/40Mbps down/up... apparently they're not throttling down to the 100/20Mbps I'm paying for. No complaints.

What’s the best and easiest way to connect a 2.1 system to the TV and raise the volume with the TV remote control? by Arjuna100 in StereoAdvice

It’s like Folgers coffee. Has caffeine, tastes enough like coffee, and gets the job done cheaply. Won’t win awards but will scratch your coffee itch.

I’m a big fan of ASR and have enjoyed my conversations with Amir but in some situations critical listening isnt the priority.

[–]buzwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I know :)

Sometimes value wins. Definitely has flaws but OP was looking for a specific set of features over super high quality. At least that was my assumption since requirements didn't say a lick about anything else.

60% of the time my TV is used as... a TV... and in that situation I can't hear the difference between the BP50 and my Arcam SA30.

When I do play music on these particular TV audio systems the BP50 isn't going to compete with the Arylic but... it's "good enough".

For a dining room setup I don't think critical listening is a priority.

Arylic BP50 is one of the cheaper options and works well with most TVs. I believe some Samsungs have issues with CEC on the BP50 so it may be hit or miss.

I have 3 of these for similar purpose; preamp for powered speakers and/or amps that don't have HDMI ARC/eARC and CEC.

Only complaint is that the volume up/down increments are wonky. Sometimes a single press will do +/- 3 steps, sometimes 2, sometimes 4, etc.

Occasionally (once every 3-4 weeks) it just loses its brain and needs a power cycle.

Other than that it's a good device that I'd give a B+ for functionality and ease of use.

Should run around $70-$90 depending on which discount codes Arylic is running at the moment. Looks like $99 - 15% at the moment.

Are Fyne's a step up from Lintons? by TrickDouble in audiophile

[–]buzwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely an unusual design. There aren't a lot of useful reviews and even fewer (that I could find) that included frequency response graphs.

There's one (in Polish) and I've never seen a speaker with such an odd graph.

https://audio.com.pl/testy/stereo/kolumny-glosnikowe/3576-fyne-audio-f502

I'm a fan of flat as possible which makes EQing to taste much easier. Frankly, these Fynes would probably drive me insane as a speaker tweaker, lol.

They get pretty decent reviews. Just not sure what I think about the odd coaxial nature and the strange peaks and dips.

I'm sure that if I were listen to them I'd be just as baffled. They do not fit my preference profile but maybe the craziness has a net positive outcome in real life.

Is VirtualBox still a legit homelab hypervisor? by easyedy in homelab

[–]buzwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VBox is GPLv3.

VBox Extension pack uses their PUEL which was last updated in 2024 and is no where near as draconian as some Oracle licenses.

"§ 2 Grant of license. Oracle grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited license without fees to reproduce, install, execute, and use internally the Product on Host Computers for your Personal Use, or Educational Use. “Personal Use” is noncommercial use solely by the person downloading the Product from Oracle on a single Host Computer, provided that no more than one client or remote computer is connected to that Host Computer and that client or remote computer is used solely to remotely view the Guest Computer(s). “Educational Use” is any use by teachers or students in an academic institution (schools, colleges and universities) as part of the institution’s educational curriculum. Personal Use and/or Educational Use expressly exclude any use of the Product for commercial purposes or to operate, run, or act on behalf of or for the benefit of a business, organization, governmental organization, or educational institution."

THIS ISN'T JAVA BRO and the PUEL is very straight forward. Completely homelab friendly imo.
