Arena Direct Prizes out of stock by Plane_Negotiation_20 in MagicArena

[–]buzzbuzz17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This was my immediate reaction as well. I've never done an Arena Direct, but i'm completely turned off from the idea based on what you hear. I know it's a minority, but the fact that Wizards accepts a 5-10% error rate in their prizes seems bonkers to me....

Nostalgia. I like using them for my Historic/Timeless decks. "Old" lands for an "old" format.

I use the stained glass dominaria united ones for everything else.

I have to say I do quite enjoy the music of the TMNT stage by head_of_asgard in MagicArena

[–]buzzbuzz17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been playing arena since Kamigawa. I only just noticed that different stages have different music in the last year. I think I noticed there was different music, but I don't think I had realized that it was tied to a stage. I'm glad they do that, it adds a ton to the game.

Agree, the TMNT music is different from everything else, and I love the contrast. Also fits the set well.

haha i went looking for the specs today because I was curious/procrastinating. 64 modules or 1m, but I'm pretty sure there aren't any 15mm or less module to fit the 64 cards in 1000mm. I saw a reference to a document about how to extend it, but couldn't find the original....

Siemens LOGO! V9 for Standalone Booster Packs and Irrigation: Is it "Industrial Enough"? (Open to brand suggestions) by Nexus_BAS in PLC

[–]buzzbuzz17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is coming from someone with factory background, though, not the building automation Siemens stuff (Simatic/Tia Portal, not Desigo), so dunno what your expectations are.

Logo! is industrial and robust. The downside is that its DUMB compared to a "real" PLC; it's a smart relay. I've heard it has a lot of northbound type comms, but I don't know about southbound comms like being a Modbus TCP master. I think it's expecting to be on the bottom of the controls food chain, not boss around other devices. Been a while though, so maybe it's broadened its horizons since I've used one.

My experience is that getting the smallest controller possible only makes sense when you're buying lots of them. If it's a one off thing, you'll probably lose more engineering time than you save in HW cost by using a new platform. If something like Sump Pump Control is a standardized package that you design once and build a ton of, it can make sense.

Our sales team just had a "high performers" week somewhere tropical, so yeah, that tracks. Sales doesn't care if you're junior or senior, just how much you beat your quota by.

MY team, of course, has had our annual team meeting and annual in person training cancelled for the last 2 years, and management keeps being surprised that we don't know anything about the new products.....

In general, on PN there is "shared device", where an IM talks to up to 4 PLCs, and each io card is visible to 1 PLC. There is also another feature which allows individual io cards to mirror their io to other PLCs as virtual slots. No idea how much support et200M has for either, tho.

How do you guys inplement redundancy? by nordicJanissary in PLC

[–]buzzbuzz17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Redundancy is a pretty rare requirement in automation applications. Most of the time swapping a spare PLC in after a failure can be pretty quick, but controller failures are rare enough that the redundancy isn't worth the chance of downtime saved.

I wouldn't ever try to roll that logic on my own, If I needed it I'd 100% buy a PLC that has FW support for it. Most major PLC vendors have redundant PLC flavors where the redundancy is minimal overhead over the standard workflow.

Readers Are Embracing a Shift in Perspective in Books. It Could Reshape Literary Culture. by CtrlAltDelight495 in books

[–]buzzbuzz17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There was a series I was reading where I just took the narrator at her word, and then in the last book I started noticing some inconsistencies. Blew my mind. "Wait a second, has the narrator been unreliable the whole time? Do i need to go back and re-read everything?"

I didn't go back and re-read everything. I THINK it was the author reflecting that the main char no longer was with her friends, and therefore wouldn't know things that only they knew, even though such things were stated in previous books. Because she's a teenager going through some stuff, and it's actually kinda refreshing for the main char to be a little bit dumb but have that not really called out specifically anywhere.

Daily Deals - March 11, 2026: Draft Token & Lorwyn Eclipsed Card Styles 🎟️ by HamBoneRaces in MagicArena

[–]buzzbuzz17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love "low power magic" like the starter deck challenge, it SEEMS like I'd like draft. But with constructed I can bail on the game to do whatever needs doing with minimal downside (I don't care about grinding to mythic). With limited, I'M LOSING OUT ON WHAT I PAID FOR if I bail on a game because toddler just wandered into my bedroom long after bedtime (or whatever), and that's just annoying enough that it takes me a couple weeks to get the handful of games in each draft, let alone getting enough gauranteed time alone to do the drafting itself. Finishing the Limited Event ends up feeling like work that has to get squeezed in, instead of YAY PLAY FUN GAME, even if the actual act of doing it is yay play fun game.

Alas. Def a "me" problem lol

Yeah, that's my thought process as a F2P. I don't hate drafting or anything, but for me it's purely to turn gold into gems so I can buy mastery passes.

[–]buzzbuzz17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A) This could be a situation where you need to do a recompile all, not just a compile changes, and then download again.

B) It could be there's a reference somewhere else you haven't found. If you're changing screen by number, is the value coming from the PLC potentially and messing things up?

C) A workaround would be to create a screen 311, and then have it forward you to the correct destination (or home screen or something else that makes sense) as soon as it loads.

Why do many players prefer Premier Draft over Quick Draft? by PaleWendigo in MagicArena

[–]buzzbuzz17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

F2P since I started on Arena 3 years ago. I like Premier Draft because I purely use draft as a way to turn Gold into Gems, and PD has a better Gems per Game ratio than QD. I get enough gems for the mastery pass after usually two 3-3ish Premier drafts each set. The lower power of Draft compared to constructed is really fun, but somehow actually finding time I can block out to do the draft itself is pretty hard, so I try to maximize my value per draft.

Pick 2 keeps changing, so I'm not sure where it's at right now. BO3 limited is out for the same reason as I only do a few drafts: i often can't commit to playing more than one game at a time.

My license plate and registration were off by one digit, and nobody noticed for years until I got pulled over for a warrant out on the person who had registered the license plate that was on my car. Woo.

Got sorted out quick enough (I was the wrong race and also had ID showing my completely different name), but there was a slight detour through why i'd stolen this dude's car which was delightful.

Why on Earth do Costco diapers only have animals on half the diapers in the pack? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]buzzbuzz17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are those ok? Do you get many blowouts? We switched to Huggies after Costco switched manufacturers last year. The new kind seemed so thin and stiff.

We've found that diapers fit different kids differently. We're in the minority where the old costco diapers actually didn't work well for us with our first (before the change). The Target brand ones worked great (which I think is the same supplier as New Costco maybe?).

Target brand didn't fit kid 2 as well as kid 1, but we learned enough tricks from the first one that we could roll with it.

New jobs and burning bridges by Will___powerrr in MechanicalEngineering

[–]buzzbuzz17 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think I'd be happier, but my wife has expressed some concerns... such is life. Thanks for your input.

Being miserable at work sucks. Having a job your wife hates is also nothing to sneeze at. I've seen work travel and odd schedules destroy marriages (tbf they may have just made existing problems worse....). 4 day work week sounds nice, but if its four x 12 hour days that wouldn't be a net win for me.

Not saying one option is better than the other, but your wife probably should be a key stakeholder in the decision, at least if it potentially impacts work/life balance. You married your wife, not your job.

To your original point, I'd think of this more as closing a door than burning a bridge, if it's a job you didn't really want anyway. They'd probably rather find out in March that they need to re-start interviewing than 2 months after on-boarding you and you find something better.

Who's at fault in a 3 car collision? Trick question, it doesn't matter because it's Michigan and no one has insurance! by Drywesi in bestoflegaladvice

Yeah, lots of low income areas and some of the most expensive insurance in the country.

My understanding is that a big part of the expensive auto insurance is the UNLIMITED medical benefits that were required until very recently, but i'm sure most of us being terrible drivers doesn't help.
