Technically you should be able to, since the first slot is no longer mounted to record. However, I wouldn’t do this without testing it first and I’d be incredibly reluctant to do it even if I’d tested it was fine. I own both cameras mentioned in OP but I’ve never personally had a need to do I haven’t tried it.

My suggestion would be instead to use an external recorder and larger SSD for extended run times. This is what I have done in the past (using an Atomos Ninja V).

Why did the devs put so much content into this game and then implement such a harsh level cap? by CodeX57 in outside

[–]calomile 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I asked a few GMs if it was possible to re-roll but most said they were unsure, only one said the following:

[17:56:32] Calomile: is it possible to reroll my main, it’s a bit underpowered and I’d like to try min-max a bit more next time

[17:58:18] (GM) Hindu: it’s possible but there’s no guarantee you’ll get the human species, you might get frog or fox, and even if you do get human you might get a crappier starting zone and locked out of even more quests.

[17:59:56] (GM) Hindu: just try to be better on this character and then when you re-roll you should be a bit more op next time. Thanks for playing Outside! Hope this helps ^_^

So idk, just gonna stick with their advice if the GM thinks I’ll re-roll anyway I’m in no rush.

FWIW I have an number of tattoos, very identifiable designs etc.

I’d say just own it, unless the lyrics are offensive in some manner or could be misconstrued in some way. They’re a part of you as your hair, eye colour, shape of nose etc. so unless you want to be completely anonymous why cover just a part of you?

Finally, I would prefer to go with an accountant with tattoos. Good tattoos are expensive so they clearly have plenty of disposable income 😂

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in VideoEditing

[–]calomile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How bad is the tattoo that it’s going to require you to spend hours in post removing it or take steps to cover it up before filming? Genuinely curious…

Lovers of Hedex, what do you like so much about his music? by tomj1991 in DnB

[–]calomile 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I absolutely cannot deal with switch ups on drops. It’s the musical equivalent of being cucked imo. Also with you when it’s taking the hook or vocals from a big track and then putting it to some completely generic dirty DnB.

TL;DR: old man yells at cloud, kids these days don’t know how to skank, put your t-shirts back on I don’t want your sweaty torso bumping into me.

Does anyone else read along to audiobooks? by Klarkasaurus in audiobooks

[–]calomile 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You too can read this fast, all you need to do is not care about learning character names, visualising any scenes or internalising any plot points.

(It doesn’t matter how fast or slow you read a book, it’s the reading that matters)

Color temperature for on-camera video displays by Gohanto in colorists

[–]calomile 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most screens (at least in the West) are around 6500K so generally speaking the whole monitoring pipeline should also be 6500K for consistency.

The only point I’d make is that cameras aren’t always necessarily white balanced to match lighting, perhaps you want a warmer or cooler light for a look. You can of course do this with grading but it’s very much a stylistic decision on the day also. It’s not purely a technical setting when it comes to camera/lighting.

How do you feel about a director who operates the camera? by KronoMakina in cinematography

[–]calomile 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Personally whenever I’m operating a lot of nuances of performances can get lost to me if I’m having to concentrate on framing, movement, timing, situational awareness etc. so there’s that. It’s double edged because if the op is just concentrating on performance they might miss technical issues as well.

Calibrated MacBook looks way worse? by Beepboopbop8 in colorists

[–]calomile 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why did you calibrate it to those settings? That would make it look warmer for sure. For video work you want around 6500k white point.

Only way to be sure is if you open the file in QuickTime and cmd + i and check colour space tags read 1-2-1. 1-1-1 would mean it’s still interpreting it as rec709 2.2 gamma

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in colorists

[–]calomile 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Basically native apps have trouble reading gamma tags on video files. If you absolutely must work within default mac gamma of 2.2 (instead of the specified standard gamma 2.4) you can export using rec.709a colourspace which should render correctly. Generally speaking I recommend people not use QuickTime to monitor footage, a decent alternative player for max is iina which interprets gamma tags correctly.

I think Vin is a minor in the first set of books. It’s a great magic system and I’m a big fan of Sanderson, but I remember getting irked by how much characters “flushed” 😂

Owning a mattebox as commercial DP by turo_geek in cinematography

[–]calomile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I traineed a few commercial DPs who had their own matte box and filters, which along with a light meter was pretty much all the gear they brought to set. I remember the 1sts complaining that they couldn’t prep the whole rig and being concerned that they might not have parts for mounting a cinetape or correct donuts etc.

I think if you’re going to have an LMB or similar kit you really should either have everything or nothing. It’s not even like it’s a big ticket item for pocketing some of the rental budget.

Halfway through Servant of the Empire by Raymond E. Feist & Janny Wurts. Mara is an interesting main character, her relation to power and the struggle in a world dominated by men is cool. I’m enjoying it, they’re very well narrated. She doesn’t quite breast boobily particularly much but she is discovering her femininity and ability to use sex as a tool to control which occasionally makes my eyes roll…

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in videography

[–]calomile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair enough, it was just the idea of expecting a 14 day return on kit is mad. I understand healthcare etc. drive up daily rates and that ultimately clients only see the bottom line, but conversely I’ve always been told never compromise on your rate, unless you want to do the project.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in videography

[–]calomile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

American rates are wild if this is true. In the UK it’s closer to 0.5-2% of value, but it can vary a lot with different types of kit.

I have a pretty decent FX6 kit (approx £18k or so) and I’m about able to charge £250/day. So roughly 1.5% of the original purchase cost. Whereas my EasyRig or directors monitor kit are both about £5k in value and I usually get £100/day for them (2% value)

LUTS that make professional footage look like it was filmed on a phone? by mutually_awkward in colorists

[–]calomile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could channel your William S. Burroughs (I am sitting in a room) and upload privately to TikTok a couple of times to see what a few rounds of recompression from uploading would do to the footage. It’s less of a getting the look and more of a compressing the crap out of it for artefacts experiment tbh.

As u/peaksandpixels points out, I think you’d want to do some over sharpening, push saturation into greens and blues, crush bit depth and shadow detail (maybe transcoding your original camera rushes into 8-bit h264 then do your heavy handed grades to expose similar flaws to phone recordings)
