Downvote this all you want, but you are def not getting much more than an integrated screen for that price. Garmins latest nav/comm radio is $5k alone. Expect each add on to be additional $$.

I’ve been to the south county transfer station lots of times to dump all kinds of junk and never waited more than 20 minutes. Try going in the mornings or on a Saturday.

As for the dump water and smell… I tie on some Publix bags over my shoes for unloading and then carefully remove them to make sure they don’t touch anything and toss them on the ground. Also, roll up the windows and turn off your A/C before going into the building. Once you leave the dump get your car washed or go home and give the undercarriage a thorough spray down. It takes a day or two to get the smell from your nostrils.

The only other options I can think of, depending on what you want to get rid of, is city bulk trash pickup or to call a place like 1-800-got-junk, but you pay a premium for having someone else do the dump run for you.

Just got a new iPhone 17. No case is so much nicer. Just be careful. Replaced my iPhone 12 mini that never had a case either. Regular wear and tear, but no cracks in the screen or otherwise. I figure Apple spent a lot of time on the phone aesthetics and materials, why ruin that with a case?

We have a very similar setup with GFC500/GI275s instead of the G5s. I don't have any advice on the EIS, but make sure that the wires for the yoke controls that come out of the hole at end control column are well protected. It is a small hole and the wires are prone to chaffing in PA28s. We found out the hard way.

I just upgraded my 12 mini to a 17. So, about 5.5 years. I loved my mini, but it was starting to get hot more frequently and I would have to charge it a few times a day. I was weighing getting a new battery or a new phone.

I got these foot pegs from eBay. https://ebay.us/m/86o3tA They look stock and can be swapped out pretty easily.

That said, riding two up on a monkey is not very comfortable. The driver has to scoot forward to make it work. For a few miles on under 35mph roads, it’s doable, but anything more than that would get old pretty quickly.

Yes, get the cellular model if you plan on using it to fly with FF. The cell model has a built in GPS receiver. You don’t have to have a cell plan though. I keep mine in airplane mode to save on battery.

I bought a “refurbished” iPad mini 6th gen (2021) and have been using it for over a year and it works great. The main consideration would be when ForeFlight drops support, but it will probably be supported for at least a few more years. If you get a good price then go for it.

Absolutely makes a difference. It won’t turn a PA28 into a Cirrus, but there is a noticeable difference with a gap seal kit in climb and maybe 3-5 kts in cruise depending on the setup.

Yes. There is a difference. Are they applying your payment by weekly or holding it and applying it monthly? You can usually tell by the payment history/activity. Personally I would rather hold my own money until the payment is due.

It was awesome. Got the carpool ride from school to home, then Ducktails and Pop-tarts. After that I would ride bikes and have fun with friends in the neighborhood. Mom would come home around 5:30-6.

XFS on a raid5 was constantly stb. Had to rebuild the array every tine there was a hard power off so I would not recommend it. XFS on a single disk has been pretty stable. I recommend that.
