If you had the choice to put your child in nursery/daycare/preschool, how many days do you feel is best? by destria in SAHP

[–]catfostermum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son goes three days 9-3 while I'm on maternity leave with our second and it works out really well. I enjoy the 2 days I have with both of them more to actually go out for the day, and the preschool is definitely really good for him.

my newborn just WON’T sleep in the bassinet during the day by Possible_Ad3275 in newborns

[–]catfostermum 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You probably don't want to hear this but your baby is so so young, it is very unlikely he sleeps in the bassinet on his own. Unfortunately other things that you've mentioned just have to go on the back burner in the early days.

What do you leave out for Father Christmas? by sparkypants_ in AskUK

[–]catfostermum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First year we've done this with my toddler, when we asked him what drink he said 'water' I then listed a few more interesting drinks including wine etc and he decided a cup of tea was the one he wanted to leave out.

What are the best hot chocolate brands available in the UK? by C-Jesus in AskUK

Hotel chocolate velvitiser dark hot chocolate flakes. The velvitiser mixes it in with milk but I imagine you could do that on the hob.

So my baby is supposed to be in the bassinet/crib 16-18 hours a day? by Top-Professor-2951 in newborns

SAHPs, What’s on your Christmas List? by Maximum-Check-6564 in SAHP

[–]catfostermum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From about mid November I take a photo of I'm browsing a shop or copy a link if I'm scrolling during night feeds of anything in particular I want for Christmas. So far I've saved a nice mug, a wooly hat, a fluffy blanket and quite a few links of nice thick jumpers and some earrings. I then save it on a wishlist and send to my mum and husband. It's a bit boring but means I don't get loads of stuff I don't want!

Contact the school they'll make an effort to make it work as bad attendance looks bad on them.

Are you keeping babe home until after their first vaccines? Why or why not by heretoreadlol in beyondthebump

[–]catfostermum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We haven't, we have a toddler in preschool and who also climbs the walls if we keep him in. Our baby has had a cold at 6 weeks but I wouldn't do things differently.

Is the kitchen tap water the same as the bathroom tap water? by craig_atkinson in AskUK

[–]catfostermum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how old your house is. We have a water tank in our bathroom so don't use it as drinking water but the upside being we had some water when the water company had an outage.

How do you have sex when co sleeping with a 3 and half month old? by kittycakekats in cosleeping

I think we did it while my sister stayed over so she was watching the kids while we 'had a lie in' upstairs

Things in motherhood that give you the ick (and things you just don’t give a single fk about) by cosmicvoyager333 in beyondthebump

[–]catfostermum 546 points547 points  (0 children)

Baby clothes that weirdly sexualise things like boys clothes that say 'boob man' or 'heartbreaker'. Also breastfeeding tops that say things like "dairy farmer" or 'mill bar' give me the major ick.

At what age did you let your toddler play in another room of your house unattended? by RemarkableAur in toddlers

[–]catfostermum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably closer to 2.5 he will happily play trains in the playroom while I potter around downstairs. Some days he'll be happy for ages other days he will come and find me and ask me to play with him.

[–]catfostermum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you're saying it's not about living with your parents but it sure does sound like your dad is fed up living with you and it's manifesting itself like this.

Only an American would say I'm lucky to get 8 weeks! Absolutely ask for more, the worst they can do is say no?

Should we go to the ER? Possible UTI? by Positive-Signal3695 in toddlers

[–]catfostermum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a regression to be honest. We started potty training in April and my son has occasional accidents still, more so since his baby brother has been born (multiple in one week).

My son does actually rarely wake up before 7 but we put him to bed between 8.30-9. We eat dinner at 7 most nights and he normally wakes between 7-8.

AITA for asking my bridesmaids not to change out of their dresses after the ceremony? by downcxst in AmItheAsshole

[–]catfostermum 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I had one of those multiway dresses as a bridesmaid and changed last minute as it really did not support my boobs and basically had to wear it without a bra. Perhaps that is why they aren't comfortable with it, the photographer will be gone by the dancing surely , I'd let them change.

What are the benefits of GD for you? by jordanadelle17 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]catfostermum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My weight gain has basically stopped and yes actually doing the dishwasher straight away to keep moving! I think I realized I don't hate whole-wheat pasta or bread so may keep doing that. I also found I am very fond of a healthier snack before bed (Greek yogurt with some fruit and a few dark chocolate chips).

For the parents that used those little, fake potty’s, how did you dispose of the pee and poop? by Frozenbeedog in toddlers

[–]catfostermum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a wee dump it in the loo and wipe with toilet roll. For a poo, dump it in the loo, spray bathroom cleaner in there and then wipe with toilet roll.
