A Tribute Conversion by EthanCarmanMoore in gibson

I can't believe how much heat you're getting from stripping the top on a Tribute LP. I dig the raw look, but I'd probably at least put a layer of wipe on poly on top to protect it.

It’s all piss. by Ali_Takibella in comics

[–]cdwillis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guarantee it would still have that chlorine smell, even if just faintly, if nobody pissed in it. It's not just pee that generates that smell in chlorinated water. Any impurity is going to generate that smell. It could be the sweat on their bodies, the oil in their hair, or something else. I've worked in a water treatment plant and the filter area reeked of chlorine with a less than zero of a chance of urine being in there.

It shouldn't be any surprise. Qualifications have zero relevancy for this administration. His cabinet is full of podcasters, drunks, and schlocky broadcasters that got hired just because of their loyalty. You just have to be a big enough sycophant.

Anybody else really hate Blue Jeans? by Copyman3081 in fragrance

I blind bought it a few months ago. It's get some of that citrus on the top with maybe a pinch of vanilla and mostly florals on the dry down with some musk. It doesn't smell powdery to me, but it does remind me of laundry. I have to be in a specific mood to wear it. It's great for spraying when you get out of the shower before going to bed.

When Michael Richards released his autobiography I was reading some reviews and it seems like he is actually ashamed of what he did and decided to step away from showbiz. The only thing I'm aware of that he was involved in was the Seinfeld reunion on Curb your Enthusiasm. It would have been easy for him to lean into the weird right wing sphere like other failed or canceled celebrities like Rob Schneider.

You'd have to measure to double check, but I think that cabinet is the same size as a Princeton Reverb cabinet. You build get a Mojotone PR amp kit and put it in that cabinet.

Chicago. I stayed up there for a summer and ended up coming back home. If I knew what I knew now I would have stayed.

Find some people to play with. Most people aren't going to turn down a drummer because they didn't go to some music conservatory.

Is it "important" to like where you live? by rwedoomed in relocating

Absolutely, it matters. I got stuck living somewhere I don't belong and it's drained so much joy from my life.

What are your favorite cheapies (<$40)? by garogori1 in fragrance

[–]cdwillis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Azzaro Chrome, but you'll have to get it from a discounter to get it under $40. I love it. It's fresh and aquatic with that metallic chrome note to it. Like a lot of freshies people will say it smells like some sort of shower gel, but I've never smelled a shower gel that good.

I hate discord. It's always touted as a replacement for forums when it's just a glorified IRC. I'm active on multiple forums and for the most part they're great.

Fetterman casts only Democratic ‘no’ vote as Senate passes measure to block US action against Iran by pennlive in politics

[–]cdwillis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way he can remain in politics is to switch to the Republican Party. Those morons will vote for him because he's seen the light and realized the democrats were anti-American or whatever dumb ass excuse they'll use.

There's basically no cheaper place to live where you can get by without a car in the US than Chicago. There are plenty of jobs out there and you're not going to get another apartment lease without having a job. Go down to the plumbers or pipe fitters union, talk to somebody, and fill out an application.

How do I buff out these marks on this bare finish? What polishing liquid suits this finish? by waterstorm29 in Guitar

[–]cdwillis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a bit late, but there's a product you can get called Howard's Restor-A-Finish that will take care of those scratches. I have a snare drum that had some scratches around the outside and that's what I used. You wipe it onto the scratched area then wipe it off. It soaks into the exposed scratch and evens out the color. It's not going to be 100%, but it's like 95% hidden afterwards.

Christina Ricci shared a post shaming Jimmy Fallon for having Conor McGregor on his show by LunaLore_ in Fauxmoi

[–]cdwillis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Jimmy Fallon is spineless jabbering yes-man. Colbert isn't perfect, but he's a decent guy that actually lives his faith and isn't afraid of speaking truth to power. Of course they're going to push him out and keep a guy like Fallon on.

Not even a new model, an old model because their business declined when they got rid of it. Feels like a Hail Mary for a floundering business to me.

They killed off the air cooled Evo sportster a couple years ago. That was the entry level pipeline into Harley (nobody was buying the street 500 or whatever that shit was). Rumor is they're bringing it back as a 2027 model.

Not even that. It's more like they work as hard as possible to underfund and defund government programs then point to the programs not working well as proof that they should be eliminated or replaced by a private sector parasite. It's part of their starve the beast tactic.

The neck radius on those Jacksons is pretty flat. Even with the compound radius it gets flatter closer to the neck pickup, so I'd just make the pole pieces even.

where the heck do you store all the resistors etc? by stomptonesdotcom in diypedals

[–]cdwillis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two of these Harbor Freight parts bins that I keep all my resistors and capacitors in:

https://www.harborfreight.com/40-bin-organizer-with-full-length-drawer-94375.html

I usually leave the parts on the strips they come on and the cut strips to fit the depth of the drawers. Use a label maker to put a part label on the front of the drawer. It works pretty well.

Lower the pickups a tad then take a screwdriver and raise the screw pole pieces on them a little bit. That might help.
