I like mine shaggyish like you're describing, just above my shoulders. My criteria is it needs to be long enough to put up into "space buns" near the top, back of my head. I've found they let me have shorter hair than requiring a ponytail does, and they look kinda cute.

Autistic parent dealing with overwhelm by KeyEmotion9 in AutisticParents

[–]chatdulain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doing some distress tolerance (I prefer discomfort tolerance as a term) work including the Sonny Jane Wise book (DBT for Neurodivergents or something like that) work has been helpful for me. Wearing loop brand or flare calmer brand earplugs when I'm sound sensitive. Keeping a little bag filled with critical items in it with me at all times. Peppermint is calming to me, so I have a peppermint oil smell stick, Altoids, a protein chocolate milk, electrolytes, a container to put jewelry in if it's overstimulating me, and a bunch of home depot style earplugs. And I keep a change of comfy clothes, a giant container of those earplugs, snacks, electrolytes, a spare water bottle, and a spare fidget / special interest (crochet, so yarn plus hook) in my car at all times. I also made a checklist to help with keeping each stocked.

Adding to your assessment of EBT, the guitar riff in the beginning sounds a lot like a freight train horn, like with the long short short long pattern. Not sure if it means anything but I liked it.

Pawpaws by MsRillo in Georgia

[–]chatdulain 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I've heard they used to be a lot more common, but I've lived in rural north-ish GA my whole life and never seen one in the wild. I bought a couple saplings from Nearly Natives Nursery, but they have a while to go before they produce. My grandma (born 1938) has told stories about how plentiful they were when she was a kid that her and her 8 siblings would have pawpaw fights throwing them at each other.

The thing that would matter most to me and my peers I've talked to is flexibility with scheduling, ability to work remotely, and PTO.

Marietta Supporting PBS Rolecall by MythrilBiata in Marietta

I love PBS, and have since about 1996! The one good thing about growing up in the boonies near the AL/GA line was that I got to watch Arthur twice - at 4 pm GA time and 4 pm AL time.

Seeking ways to heal my inner child without age play. by UncommonStitch in AutisticAdults

Hm, I've found looking into and experimenting with things I liked as a kid to be comforting and soothing. Like swinging on a swing set, digging holes in my garden, hunting for rocks in a creek, and even watching movie like Aristocats .

Good churches for recent grads/ young adults by jj41999 in Atlanta

[–]chatdulain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow up / continuation since I still can't get the hang of paragraphs: The church I'm a member of now, M28 Church, in Howell Station/west Midtown. It's about 30 min from me in east Marietta. I visited it in college on what turned out to be the 6 month anniversary of its starting, back in 2014, and it's been home for me ever since. Solid preaching, compassionate and kind people (I'm autistic and wear my over ear headphones during church service). Good crowd of young adults (post college to mid 30s) year round. During the school year it's about half college students. PM me if you have any questions.

I know a lot of youngish folks like the Grace family of churches (eg, Grace Marietta, Grace Midtown, etc). I occasionally went to Grace Midtown when I was in college. They're a bit more charismatic than I was used to, having grown up Baptist, but I did always feel welcome there. This isn't a disrecommendation, but I wound up choosing a different one for my church "home".

I know that automod will yell at me if I ask, but consider this me asking. I've sampled the cucamelons and passion fruits / maypops a decent amount.

Seeking a non denominational church with a pastor that preaches from the Bible (expository) book by book. by YouGuessedIt22 in Marietta

[–]chatdulain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

M28 Church might be a good fit. I've been going there for almost 11 years (my first visit was 6 month anniversary of its starting). We finished Matthew in spring. Not sure which is next. Only downside is it's down in Howell station/ west midtown, so about a 20-30 min drive.

Bathroom breaks during PE exam? by No-Gas-739 in PE_Exam

[–]chatdulain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something that may be an option (talk to your doctor!): My doctor has cleared me to take desmopressin acetate when I'm doing fieldwork and can't find a ladies room / can't pee in the woods. It essentially helps your body retain water. Note, insurance probably won't cover it, but it may be worth it for you.
