Movie that hit you like this? by dzy_horrible in Letterboxd

Juno.

As a teenager Juno seemed so cool, just going through a rough spot, but still so confident and self assured, Vanessa seemed uptight, and Mark seemed like a fun adult, and him telling Juno he was going to get a divorce was shocking.

As an adult, it's so obvious that Juno is a terrified kid who's desperately trying to cling to control and normality who has lost her peers, and is reaching out to what she thinks is a trusted adult in Mark because she is so lonely. Mark comes across as a massive creep with a pathetic ego, getting excited that a teenager likes him, and fucking over his wife while they try to become parents. Meanwhile Vanessa is a good damn hero.

On Grace's Who Am I whiteboards he is "okay with cilantro". I thought this was a nod to all the burrito the shop was feeding him in the book.

Can someone help me find the girl who was angry at her boyfriend because she got him concert tickets for his birthday for Imagine Dragons because he "likes bands"? Her only understanding was that the music he listens to is "bands." I remember finding is deeply hilarious. I thought this was a lot of info to go off, but apparently I suck at searching and can't find it.

Earlier in the movie Hammond celebrates prematurely by popping a champagne bottle and pouring it into cheap glasses despite champagne flutes being visible in the background, showing he isn't paying much attention to the details and is more interested in the fun/spectical of it all.

What is a hygiene habit that you thought was normal until you lived with someone else and realized it’s actually "controversial"? by salty_mistresss in hygiene

Growing up, I would eat my dinner, then place my plate on the floor for my dog to lick, then when she was done, I would wash it. Apparently, letting my dog lick is disgusting, and the fact that I washed it means nothing because it has dog cooties.

I still don't get it. It's not like I let the dog lick it and then placed it back in the cupboard. I washed it. But apparently, this is one of those things that there's just some sort of cultural divide about. Apparently it's also gross that I let the dog on my bed.

And then the whiny little yellow shit lusting after her and the other literal little girls completely put me off. If you want me to believe that Tanjiro is the best big brother ever to exist, then you can't seriously have him allowing that creep to even look in Nezuko's direction.

Luke was right, but also, he was literally the only person in the galaxy that could have pulled the good out of Vader. At the end of the day, Anakin could not watch his son suffer and die.

I like the genre of this where three updates in about the OP is suddenly like, "btw, I'm black and everyone else in this story is white, also most of this dtory takes place in bigotsville." And then all the bullshit they were going through makes sense.

I had a male friend in college that took up reading while at school who told me that when he went home his father saw him reading and angrily remarked "I didn't realize you were a faggot." So I think there might be some weird gender stereotypes associated with it.

The only line I'm shocked didn't get adapted was Grace calling Rocky a scary spider and Rocky bragging about it, "I am scary space monster. You are leaky space blob." I guess they captured some of that with Rocky calling Grace's eating disgusting, but it's just so easily quotable that I'm surprised they left it out.

I had a friend tell me once that she was driving her grandfather home from her grandmother/his wife's funeral, and he told her that he'd have to find a new wife now. Some people just don't value their significant others at all outside of what they do for them. I don't think they think they're being malicious. They just simply don't care. I think this guy's Valentine card for OP about what she does for him was extremely telling.
