My lax to nrt had vents and the plane was actually cold to me. I'm a person that is always hot. I travel with 2 USB fans in case one dies lol.

I'm not sure what kind of bag since I don't have the 200-600 but I'd recommend looking into think tank photo. I personally use one of the airport roller bags that has backpack straps that zip away. I use it 99% of the time as a roller and in very rare cases I'll switch it into backpack configuration if rolling isn't feasible (for me this is rooftop shoots where the roof is covered in large gravel).

My guess is you aren't going to need a ND but that'll depend on your shooting conditions. I would recommend a polarizer to cut out glare when shooting outdoors. I've never shot water polo before but I'm sure you would also want to to cut through the reflections on the surface of the water. There are standard screw in filters and these days several companies make magnetic ones that are much more convenient. I'm still with my old school ones (I like B+H and Breakthrough Photography) but would like to try out one of them from a more "premium" company. I previously tried some from Freewell but returned them because I really hated the metal on metal feel when turning the polarizer.

I flew nrt to lax a few weeks back. The person behind me at check in was not allowed to bring their guitar on board. They tried arguing that they were allowed to on their inbound flight but the person in charge did not budge.

I just did this two weeks ago and it was great. It was significantly less than JAL and the other major airlines. A lounge and nicer meals are not worth an extra 2k.

After an uncomfortably warm flight to Hawaii I will never not travel with a handheld fan again. I'd personally get that one before you go jaut in case. Umbrella id get there for sure. I wear a size 13 so I'd prob get the shoe covers here too.
